At 91 Mum had become too frail to live on her own at home. She was lonely and scared. The decision to move into care has been very difficult for her and us. We had heard only good reports about Lakeside. We organised respite initially. The warmth of the welcome from all staff on the first day helped to calm any worries. The care and attention Mum has received so far has been wonderful. She has been encouraged to join in activities, when well enough. Mum likes her room, is enjoying the food and says everyone is lovely. As her needs are increasing, we are kept informed regularly. We are more than happy. Thank you.
In these difficult times, it has been a relief to know that my father is being well looked after. I have been able to video-link him every week and visit him in the retreat cabin. I'm impressed at all the activities the residents are able to access throughout the week. I feel it is so important for them to engage and interact like this, especially when they are unable to see their family and friends.
My sister and I have always been impressed with the quality of care and the management of Lakeside. Mum has been a resident for over a year now and the staff treat her with the utmost respect despite her challenging needs. They have nursed her back from being close to end of life to good health. Staff always ensure that Mum's best interests are at the heart of how they care for her and use all their powers to get her to enjoy her days. Activities are excellent and varied, evidenced by the joy and stimulation they bring to all the residents. Lakeside is extremely well managed, recently refurbished it is a pleasure to be in the environment, catering is first class and residents afforded dignity in whatever stage of care they are. Happy to recommend Lakeside to prospective residents and their families.
Thank you for your lovely comment, we love having Mum as part of our family here at Lakeside! We can't wait to be able to welcome you back in for visits in the near future.
Since coming to Lakeside my health, especially the mental aspects have improved greatly. This is in no small part down to the wonderful care of staff and management.
The moment my sister and I went to view Lakeside, we knew this was the best home for our mum. My beautiful Mum moved into Lakeside in May 2019, she was on end of life and bedridden. The management and staff were so caring, nothing was ever too much for them. Visitors were always welcome, and you were always greeted with a smile. Over time my mum was up and able to join in with whichever activities were going on, she went out on day trips and was often taken to her beloved bingo. Sadly Mum recently gained her wings, every member of staff spoke so fondly of Mum, and I knew Mum was extremely happy there. We couldn’t have asked for a better home for our Mum to spend her last months. Thank you to the management and staff, you made Mum smile on so many occasions. Without a doubt, I would recommend Lakeside to anyone looking for a home for their loved ones. I cannot praise the management and staff enough.
The best in our area we could get him and we will never forget the care and love he got.
Excellent.
My father went to Lakeside in March 2019, having just received the very shocking and traumatic news that his cancer was terminal and that he had been put on end of life care. The prognosis was that he had at best 3 months left to live, which proved to be the case. I cannot thank the manager and her wonderful team enough for the way in which they cared for my father for his last few months. Nothing was ever too much trouble for the staff and when he felt that there was no reason to carry on living, they lifted his flagging spirits in whatever way they could. When musicians came to the home to play for the residents, they made sure that my father was not left out and he had his own violin recitals, which he enjoyed immensely. While he was battling with the cancer and the attendant pain, they managed to keep him pain-free most of the time and comfortable. I think that the way in which he was cared for was exceptional and exemplary in such very difficult circumstances. Thank you so much.
My frail Dad was discharged from hospital into the care of Lakeside. I am delighted with the kind, professional staff, wonderful facilities and activities available. My dad is treated as an individual, he is not a drinker but the pleasure he had in enjoying a lager was lovely and I was offered a shandy. The food is excellent too. My Dad apparently enjoyed golf from his wheelchair. I live in France and I have total peace of mind that my dad is happy and well cared for. The home has a wonderful atmosphere that can be sensed as you step through the door. Incredibly he has only been a resident 3 days but the staff know him so well, I would love to be a resident myself. Thank you so much. I really appreciate Team Lakeside ...very much appreciate all your hard work and the love, respect you show to residents and family.
Absolutely amazing. The staff are so helpful and caring for the residents. Lakeside is very welcoming.
I have found Lakeside Nursing & Residential Home Standish to be a friendly, clean, caring home for my mum. The management and staff are excellent, so helpful and friendly, patient and understanding about our worries for mum. Nothing is too much trouble always ask at every visit if everything ok. Lots of activities happening every day and feel we made the right decision for mum to call it her new home. Thanks for making mum so happy.
Mum has b4een here for a couple of weeks now and has been very well looked after and been made to feel part of the home very quickly. The staff are amazing, always welcoming no matter what time I turn up. There is a very happy atmosphere all of the time. Nothing is too much trouble and there is a definite family feeling amongst all.
Pleased to see how fast all the staff learned my parent's names. Also, they paid attention to personal needs with careful consideration.
I was asked to find a nursing home for my mother. My daughter and I visited Lakeside first. e knew straight away that this home was ideal for my mother. The atmosphere, staff and manager seemed perfect. We had to look at others for the sake of comparison to The Lakeside. None of these wer as good as Lakeside.
I can highly recommend the food which is wholesome and nutritious.
If I needed to go into care then there would be no other place I would choose for myself.
Thank you every single one at Lakeside.
I was greeted by the manager who was very professional and helpful. A new asset to Lakeside.
My friend was happy and well looked after.
There is now a new manager and the atmosphere is much improved, happier and calmer which radiates through to the staff to the residents and visitors.
All the staff, nurses and carers, cleaners, chefs and laundry work extremely hard and are very welcoming to visitors. The home is clean and refurbishments are in progress. There are no off-putting odours. There is a new build which has caused some disruption to the beautiful grounds and car park but that will soon be at an end.
The problem is there just aren't enough staff and so sometimes, it can be 15-35 mins before help arrives and then my mother will be incontinent.
It isn't the carers fault; they are absolutely superb.
My friend is quite happy to be in here as she is well looked after. Staff are very good to her. Food is good. Everyone has been helpful to me when I have called in.
My dad was resident here from late November till he passed on New Years Day. The nurse's carers even cleaners and kitchen staff gave not just my dad but us as a family first class care. They were patient understanding and so very supportive to me and my family not just during the worst time of our lives but afterwards as well. Can't thank them enough. Would highly recommend. Just hope when I'm of age I'm fortunate enough to reside somewhere like Lakeside Nursing and Residential Home.
My father stayed in a comfortable room for four weeks. We found all the staff to be friendly, cheerful, helpful and caring in many ways. He said the food was excellent every day. Both the building and grounds were very pleasant. The nurses I met were very conscientious and the place was very well run.
