After a rocky start, Aunty has settled down nicely. She seems to get on with everyone. The staff are all very nice and do their best to resolve any problems.
I visited one day, and the ladies were in the activity room, which was lovely, but was an absolute tip and doesn't get used very much, which is a shame.

It would be lovely if it could be stripped out and used for activities as the residents enjoy a good chat.

My wife has been in the home for four weeks. During this time, she has been treated very well and has settled in very well. When I leave, she has never once wanted to come with me. I have found the staff very helpful and willing to discuss her welfare at any time, and any incidents are informed to me at once.

Conclusion - my wife is happy and contented, and so am I.

We cannot thank the staff enough at Shawcross for the level of care and kindness they show to my grandad every day. All of the staff are exceptional and so passionate in their roles. There are a range of activities offered, in particular, my grandad enjoyed the pizza making class. I would recommend Shawcross to anyone looking for five-star care for their family member. Thank you for everything you do for him.

Sometimes she could be left wet or hasn't eaten, however as a whole I think the care has been amazing and kind.

I think there could be some more activities or sociable aspects like music or baking etc, if possible.

My gran came to Shawcross after a long stay in hospital. The staff are great and know my gran well, e.g. cup of tea before bed, they know she likes the soaps on TV, and they also ask how her day has been if she's been out for the day. Gran has got to know the staff and trusts them. However, the shower in the ensuite does not work, and we feel Gran is not showered enough. The food is pretty poor, resulting in Gran not eating enough unless we bring her something in. Other than that, we have had a really positive experience so far, and the nurses here are great too!

The staff were caring and gentle with my very sick friend. They came promptly to assist her when asked. Her room was warm, clean and tidy.

Staff were welcoming, friendly and helpful. I only made a short visit so can't answer some of the ratings.

He says his bed is really comfy. He likes the carers very much, and they seem fond of him. We are always greeted and offered a drink, even though the staff are busy. The home makes sure that his meals are altered and speak to us as needed. The staff include us in the care. I feel that this home is the best place for him during a difficult time. Family members have commented on how lovely it is.

When I visit my husband I am greeted by friendly, caring and compassionate staff who I have got to know like a family. We, as carers for my husband, are listened to and cared for. Food is flexible and high quality. He comments on the lovely room and that the staff are wonderful. He attends trips and events that he enjoys very much and our photo montage in his room enables the conversation to continue and so the smiles - thank you to you all!

Overall, my experience has been positive. Whilst visiting Mum, I have found the staff to be very helpful and attentive. Mum appears to be happy and talks about the staff in a positive way.

On a separate issue, I am concerned that there are no showering or bathing facilities; we have been informed that there is an issue with this but have not been advised when Mum will be able to have a shower in her own room.

Staff are very kind and helpful to my mum and to me when I'm visiting. Mum says the staff are lovely and very helpful. She's not very impressed with some of the food which is provided. The shower in Mum's room is out of order and has been since she arrived a month ago. I hope this is rectified as soon as possible.

Review from C M (Sister of Resident) published on 4 October 2022 Submitted via Postal Card

My sister has settled in really well and is happy with all the staff. Her room is very nice, but she says her bed is not very comfortable. The emergency mat by her bed keeps alerting the staff even though we try to avoid it. I realise it needs to be there for her safety, but we wondered whether it could be turned off while she has visitors in and then we could let staff know when we are leaving - just a thought!
