We were so happy with the care Mum received at Westwood Lodge. All the staff appear genuinely dedicated & really do go the extra mile. Mum was treated with dignity & compassion throughout her stay. The room, choice of food & varied activity programme was all excellent. I would have no hesitation in recommending Westwood Lodge to anyone. Thank you to all who made her short stay there as pleasant as possible. Thank you too for caring for the family at this difficult time.

Having spent the previous 4 months in Wigan Infirmary, I arrived at Westwood Nursing home on Christmas eve 2025. During my time at Westwood House I found all the staff to be both friendly and caring. Particular shout outs to the day staff Michelle, Louise, Ashley, Hannah, Teg and Katie in catering. Night staff Ash, Queen, Donna, Paul, but as above everyone was very helpful. The food generally was good and I still miss my evening toast and morning breakfast.Once again much appreciated to you all and keep up the good work.

My mother, Patricia, was a resident with complex needs. Having seen your patience, empathy, compassion and attentive nature were outstanding. Your kindness shown to the family as she was dying and died was exemplary and will never be forgotten.

The cleanest care home by far in our experience.
The staff from the reception upwards are brilliant and happy.
The rooms are more than adequate and maintained well.

Our only issue is that when we bring ready meals in (mum doesnt eat chicken or fish) it seems to be a problem.

It's the first time my dad, Frank, had to go into a care home. He loves it here, he likes all the staff, and they are very polite and friendly, he said it's a very clean care home.

It was a very difficult beginning for our family arriving at Westwood Lodge during Christmas week, as it was totally unexpected, but our introduction to the home by the deputy manager dispelled our fears and concerns and made us feel welcome. The management of my dad's painful pressure sore acquired in hospital was swiftly undertaken by the amazing district nurses; all put into place immediately by the home, and their continuous care and support are helping his recovery. The care and attention shown by every member of staff from housekeeping, kitchen, laundry, care staff and nurses is a credit to the home. Every member of the team is a valued part of the care given, and they have created a home-from-home for each resident. Thank you to everyone for helping us during this very difficult time.

Westwood Lodge looked after our Dad for nearly two years. They looked after him very well. He had many wonderful, kind and compassionate carers. The staff went above and beyond many times. The nursing staff made good decisions when Dad was sick or when there was a medical issue. The team were very professional and caring, and they became our friends. He was looked after in terms of hygiene and welfare, and the food was good. The care home felt safe. We made a good choice when we selected Westwood Lodge and I would recommend it. We are grateful to them.

My mum has been staying at Westwood Lodge for only a short while. But the staff are kind, caring and always go above and beyond, to make sure things go smoothly and that all needs are taken care of. I live a distance away but I know that she is safe and well looked after. Thank you to the team.

This review may not be as helpful as I would like. I was only able to visit my friend occasionally. It makes it difficult to give an accurate picture of my friends care and experience. But will do my best on what I saw.

I have found Westwood Lodge to be a wonderfully caring place for my mum to be. Mum is treated with care and compassion every day. Mum is respected at every step of the daily routine and looked after to a standard that is not attainable at home. The staff at Westwood Lodge are also very compassionate and caring to family members and always keep us well informed.

I want to put a complaint in because I'm not happy how my mum is being treated, it's been few times the staff forget to feed her. I'm so angry with this care home. If it was your mum being mistreated you won't be happy. Her clothes get robbed when she puts them in washer and they don't help her to walk at all. It's sick how they treat my mum. People go in her room while she is asleep and then they walk in, wake her up when they been told not to wake her up. They don't check on her, they leave her without asking if she wants a drink or not, it's wrong. I'll take it further about this care home if nothing is done about it, simples.

My dad was moved to Westwood after 9 weeks in hospital and his care was excellent. Communication with nursing staff was very positive and proactive and they understood my dad's needs.

We know my dad was coming to the end of his life and he was kept clean, comfortable and treated with dignity and respect by the staff. Many thanks to you all!

My dad was in Westwood Lodge for 16 months leading up to his death. The staff are incredible, without exception. They treated my dad with dignity and love and had a really good laugh with him. He had advanced dementia but was always included in any activities within the home and was taken out by staff when the weather was good. I cannot fault the level of care and I will be eternally grateful to all the staff.

I am the wife of the resident in Westwood Lodge Nursing Home who had a massive stroke which paralysed him down the left side and affected his left eye as well. He likes to keep to himself and will not mix with other residents and will not ask carers for help, only if he has to. He is a private person, which I think is down to him, he is very stubborn. I find carers very approachable.
