Westwood Lodge Care Home, situated in a peaceful residential area just outside Wigan, is a friendly and purpose-built home offering personalised nursing care.

Inside, the home boasts patio, premier and en-suite bedrooms, as well as a variety of places for residents to relax, dine, exercise and socialise including a hair salon, hobby room and large garden.

With a wealth of knowledge and experience in the care sector, the Home Manager leads the team to ensure residents receive the best possible care and support.

Paying attention to the nutritional needs of each resident, the catering team at Westwood Lodge create delicious meals to ensure a lovely dining experience for all residents and visitors, all of which can be enjoyed in the spacious dining areas.

The wonderful care team at Westwood Lodge design a varied and enriching activity programme, getting to know residents individually so that their personal interests and preferences can be factored in. This works towards creating an inclusive and engaging lifestyle at the home, where residents have something to look forward to each day.

My dad is in Westwood Lodge Care Centre. The staff are excellent they are lovely and thoughtful. Also if you go into other care homes they don't really smell nice but here it's spotless and always smells fresh. The cleaner is always cleaning and pops in to talk to Dad because he can't watch the telly
because he's nearly blind she pops in for a quick chat. Would recommend, it's a lovely atmosphere and plenty going on for the residents.

Staff are always pleasant and helpful even during all the covid restrictions. They have done their very best to make sure you can keep in touch with your loved ones. Even the handyman is more than happy to help if he can and he, like the staff is always pleasant and polite. Could not ask for more.

Until the Covid outbreak put a stop to visits, I visited my former neighbour every week. I always found the staff I met to be friendly, efficient, helpful and even though they were always very busy, they took time with the residents, treating them tenderly and with the utmost care and dignity. My friend
is very fond of the staff who care for her and feels safe and secure.

Mum and Dad lived in Westwood, but Dad passed away in April during the lockdown, which was extremely hard. Mum was grieving and visiting was restricted, we really struggled but with true Westwood fashion, they stepped up and allocated mum a ground floor room, so we could at least window visit. Mum herself
was admitted to hospital several times, thankfully staff and nurses recognise signs of mums illness and phoned for an ambulance on each occasion. Mum is now recovering nicely, staff are working very hard, and the results are showing mum is now the best she’s been for ages. Thanks, everyone, you are doing a brilliant job.

My mum is currently in Westwood Lodge and has been for the past 12 months. We find the staff very friendly, helpful and professional in their work and will go out of their way to make sure my mum is cared for in the best possible way. Also when my dad is there he is looked after and nothing is too much
trouble. We can not praise all the staff enough, it is a very well run home.

Westwood Lodge Care Home are currently taking excellent care of my Auntie and Uncle. Despite them having different needs and separate rooms, the staff in the care home make sure they have as much contact as possible in an attempt to make them feel they have that 'home from home' comfort and daily routine.
The staff are welcoming to guests at anytime, always available to communicate with if there are any questions/concerns and willing to help in as many ways as possible. Both my relatives have commented on the food as being excellent, with my uncle, especially, enjoying is cooked breakfasts and occasional ice cream.
The rooms are clean, quite spacious with pleasant views. There are activities to join in with if they want to and when health allows. My cousin chose this home for my Auntie and Uncle (his parents) and I truly believe he could not have made a better choice.

I cannot recommend Westwood Lodge enough. The staff cared for my grandma like she was family and made her last few months happy. When she went in she couldn't walk and needed a hoist but the staff got her walking again and did so much for her. The activities were amazing and she loved living there.
The rooms were spotless and everyone was treated with dignity and respect. They honestly couldn't do enough for my grandma. I cannot thank them all enough.

The carers do treat the residents with care and respect, which sometimes is very difficult when so short staffed. That happens regularly.
The rooms could do with an update, especially the carpets which are unhygienic. They are cleaned regularly but it would be better with floors which could be cleaned
better.
Also an update on the food.

My mum has been here for 2 years thanks to the excellent care of the nursing staff. They have provided medical care in line with her and the family's wishes to avoid the stress of hospital treatment. All the staff are very caring, they are always welcoming and the cleanliness is good.

The home and care staff work to a high standard.
My only advice is for air fresheners to be placed along corridors as the air was stale and unpleasant on our frequent visits.
