Westwood Lodge Care Home, situated in a peaceful residential area just outside Wigan, is a friendly and purpose-built home offering personalised nursing care.

Inside, the home boasts patio, premier and en-suite bedrooms, as well as a variety of places for residents to relax, dine, exercise and socialise including a hair salon, hobby room and large garden.

With a wealth of knowledge and experience in the care sector, the Home Manager leads the team to ensure residents receive the best possible care and support.

Paying attention to the nutritional needs of each resident, the catering team at Westwood Lodge create delicious meals to ensure a lovely dining experience for all residents and visitors, all of which can be enjoyed in the spacious dining areas.

The wonderful care team at Westwood Lodge design a varied and enriching activity programme, getting to know residents individually so that their personal interests and preferences can be factored in. This works towards creating an inclusive and engaging lifestyle at the home, where residents have something to look forward to each day.

To ensure connections with the wider community are maintained, the team also have good relationships with local community groups and schools across Wigan, and regularly arrange meet ups and trips to get involved with.

My mum has been in Westwood Lodge Care Centre since May this year. She cannot move unaided, cannot speak or communicate in any way and her feeding and medication are by means of a peg. The care she receives from everyone is wonderful. All the staff whatever their role are kind, considerate and treat
her with gentleness and respect and try their very best to maintain her dignity. There is a lovely friendly atmosphere which has been commented on by everyone who has visited mum with me. The kindness and support they have shown to me as her relative has been beyond praise and it is appreciated so much. They have given me peace of mind knowing that she is so well looked after and I cannot thank them enough.

My mother has been in the care of these lovely people for two weeks. She is a high risk of falls and has difficulty communicating. The staff work extremely hard and nothing is too much trouble for them. I feel confident in the care and safety of my mother here. I have observed the responses from the
residents and staff and they are all treated with dignity and respect. They are asked if they are comfortable. The activities provided are enjoyed by all those capable of participating and are entertaining and variable.

Since my husbands admission to Westwood Lodge he has been treated with dignity and respect. He has brain damage and is bed bound and is unable to do anything for himself. He is unable to communicate so staff need to anticipate all his requirements, which they do very well. He is incontinent both ways,
so has a cathater and wears pads. As he is bedbound he can be prone to bed sores, so they have to turn him on a regular basis, as he is unable to do this himself. He cannot feed himself and due to swallowing problems has to have pureed food and thickened drinks. He has outbursts of abuse, which is all part of his brain damage, the staff understand this and are always very patient. Wonderful place.
