After having a stroke, mum moved into Westwood Lodge in August 2016. She is severely disabled and needs 24/7 care.

There have been a few problems with lack of numbers of carers in the past but this seems to have been resolved. The staff are lovely and take good care of mum unless they are short staffed (when a couple of occasions mum was left in bed all day - happened in 2017). Generally, the home is very good and I feel confident that mum is being looked after properly.

My mum has been well cared for and the staff are pleasant that are known to my mother. The downside is staff shortages, although agency staff are good, they are often unknown to my mum. Laundry, cleaning, meals are very good, activities are excellent, good entertainment, small things such as mums beads, scarves etc overlooked due to staff workload.

For a great majority of the time, my wife has been very well looked after. The staff are caring and compassionate and always seem to cope when understaffed. Although my wife's room is nice and comfortable the community areas are a little tired and need updating and modernising. The car park always seems to be a mess and needs to be lit up in the evening.

Since my mother has become a resident of Westwood Lodge I've had no problems with the care she has received. All the staff are very friendly and willing to help if you have any concerns. The home always looks clean and tidy and I am always made to feel welcome when I visit. Anyone considering a residency here, I would definitely recommend it.

The staff are so caring and professional, you feel they are more family than employees. The housekeepers take such care in their work but also take the time to interact with the residents so they become friends. The activity staff do a really good job organising singers, exercise sessions, animal activities etc to entertain the residents. I would recommend Westwood Lodge to anyone looking for nursing home care.

My father was resident at Westwood Lodge for seven weeks I cannot believe anyone could complain about the care given by the staff at Westwood Lodge. They are working with patients some with dementia, some very demanding and in my opinion, they cope very well under very stressful circumstances. I would have no problem recommending this care home to anybody. My father died in their care and was treated with dignity and respect until the very end and I would like to thank everyone concerned from the cleaners to nurses for all they did for him.

Having moved my mother from another care home I have found Westwood Lodge to be excellent in all aspects of care. My mother's overall wellbeing has improved dramatically since going into Westwood Lodge and she is happy being there. All the staff are excellent and I put that down to the leadership of the home manager.

My mum has been in Westwood Lodge Care Centre since May this year. She cannot move unaided, cannot speak or communicate in any way and her feeding and medication are by means of a peg. The care she receives from everyone is wonderful. All the staff whatever their role are kind, considerate and treat her with gentleness and respect and try their very best to maintain her dignity. There is a lovely friendly atmosphere which has been commented on by everyone who has visited mum with me. The kindness and support they have shown to me as her relative has been beyond praise and it is appreciated so much. They have given me peace of mind knowing that she is so well looked after and I cannot thank them enough.

My mother has been in the care of these lovely people for two weeks. She is a high risk of falls and has difficulty communicating. The staff work extremely hard and nothing is too much trouble for them. I feel confident in the care and safety of my mother here. I have observed the responses from the residents and staff and they are all treated with dignity and respect. They are asked if they are comfortable. The activities provided are enjoyed by all those capable of participating and are entertaining and variable.

Since my husbands admission to Westwood Lodge he has been treated with dignity and respect. He has brain damage and is bed bound and is unable to do anything for himself. He is unable to communicate so staff need to anticipate all his requirements, which they do very well. He is incontinent both ways, so has a cathater and wears pads. As he is bedbound he can be prone to bed sores, so they have to turn him on a regular basis, as he is unable to do this himself. He cannot feed himself and due to swallowing problems has to have pureed food and thickened drinks. He has outbursts of abuse, which is all part of his brain damage, the staff understand this and are always very patient. Wonderful place.
