My mum came into Mersey Parks Care Home after being in hospital and after being a resident at another care home (but that’s another story). Mersey Parks is a caring, thoughtful, friendly, professional, clean and a wonderful friendly atmosphere of a care home. The staff really do care about the residents, and actually nurse them, and get treatment/doctor in when needed. The food looked and smelt delicious, and we enjoyed hearing the singers in the lounge (even if my mum couldn’t manage to move in there to see them). My mum sadly passed away, and the staff were wonderful. I wish my mum had gone to Mersey Parks in the first place. We will miss going in there, especially seeing little Bean. All the staff in Springfield unit, thank you all for making the last month of my mums life happier. You all deserve a massive pay rise!

I went out for the afternoon with a member of staff, we had a laugh. She was very helpful in every way with choosing the clothes. Apart from her help with the shopping, she has helped in other ways, making us feel at home and at ease. She is very kind and helpful at her job.

It was such a heartbreaking decision having to find full-time care for my mum. She has only been a resident in Sefton House for three months. The staff have made her transition so easy, she has settled so quickly. The staff are absolutely fantastic. The care and attention my mum receives is wonderful, I couldn't ask for more. Mum has very limited speech but will communicate through gestures and to watch Mum's interaction with the staff is heartwarming, I consider the staff as our extended family.

The staff are readily available to ask question of my dad's wellbeing. He has been well looked after in this unit. He seems so content here and settled which takes so much stress and guilt away from the family. Dad is taken into the day room and staff are always friendly towards him and others. This unit has activities which my dad gets included in, which is great.

My mum has been at Stanley House for two of the happiest years. It, to me, is her complete home, our house, our home. The staff, who to me are our family, care and love beyond feelings for her and the residents, beyond care, it's family. The welcome we get just going in for a visit, chat and laugh, it's a comfort to me and family that they are safe, happy and have close relationships with all who live and visit there! They know all my mum's ways, when she's at her best and when she can have a tired day. There is no hesitation for medical assistance, call for GP if needed or needed or not. So happy! Thank you Stanley House, Mersey Parks Care Home.

An amazing team of staff. Very caring and support the resident's family and visitors. Encourage residents to do activities and participate in games, bingo, dancing and music/singers. I know mum is happy here and safe.

In my honest opinion, I have been proved wrong about my Mother going into a care home. She loves the company and she is encouraged to get involved with all the activities. The staff meet all my Mum's needs and requirements. Anything I ask for is never too much bother.

I called in to see mum early evening on Christmas day, (unexpected). I knew the moment I entered mum's room that she was in total distress! Plain to see that mum had a high fever, her face was very red and sweaty, her whole body was twitching madly. Mum was coughing up loads of phlegm that was getting lodged in her throat and mum did not know how to deal with the phlegm (spit it out) and was choking on it. She was in total distress! The qualified nurse/senior came when she was called, I asked her 'what is going on with mum? just look at her' the nurse said 'she's got her antibiotics'!, I replied that I want a doctor or an ambulance, said I was not prepared to leave mum like that! the nurse said, 'I'm busy, I have to do a handover and it may take some time'! she walked out of the room! and I called 999. The paramedics said 'this lady has a very high temperature, low oxygen level and needs to get to hospital asap'. God only knows how long mum had been alone in her room in that terrible state.

My father has been in the home for nearly four months. It is clean and organised. The staff are engaged, compassionate and conscientious. They are friendly and welcoming. They treat my father with kindness and skill, they have got to know him and treat him as an individual. When they have to change him they are gentle and kind. They always update me. I take in a little dog which cheers everyone up. This is a hard time for my father and family, however, I know he is well cared for with humour, kindness and skill.

The staff are a strength of the home. They are caring, patient (even in trying circumstances) and hard working. They have been a support for the family as well as for Mum. Only reservation, and it is a common one in the current staffing climate, is that male staff sometimes have to attend to female personal care, which Mum finds very difficult. In other ways, privacy is always observed.
The home is kept clean. I have never encountered the odour which can sometimes be associated with care for the elderly.
Mum enjoys her meals, they are certainly plentiful and with snacks in between. The staff are aware of what Mum has eaten and I have noticed a nutritional drink being left for Mum when she has not been eating.
The one weak area is the lack of activities which could provide both mental and physical stimulation.

When I did encounter a problem, I spoke to the manager who resolved it quickly and efficiently.

My sister was in Sefton House for nearly three years. On making enquiries for her to enter Mersey Parks, the office staff were very supportive with information etc.

As for her time on Sefton, the staff were very welcoming when we visited. She always looked well taken care of and supported. The unit had a pleasant atmosphere and looked lovely since the refurbishment. This last year has been hard not being able to visit but I had great faith in the staff. They have worked so hard and deserve a medal.

I found the home adequate. The staff were caring, difficult as all in the middle of Covid. But I was allowed to visit the last two weeks of my mother's life when she was very ill and the immediate family were with her when she died, so could not ask for more. I was also very impressed by how clean my Mother was kept.
