Overall the staff were professional and caring, friendly and curtious. SOme of the "temp" staff needed more training on some of the equipment eg the return etc and had truble understanding ENglish.

I stayed at Ashton House, Broadoak Manor from 28th June to 15th July 2025 for rehab as I recovered from breaking both arms and injured my left knee in a fall from a ladder. The help I was given to regain my independence was excellent. Staff were patient, always prepared to supervise when I tried something
for the first time. They gave support and encouragement, and at the same time always checked that I was safe and not taking risks (in my haste to recover). I am very grateful for the way they helped me back to a more independent state so I could safely go home.

Our Mum us currently staying in Stapley House. She was very poorly recently and put on end of life care. The staff have been amazing and shown nothing but care, kindness and empathy to not only our mum but as a family. They acted quickly and professional and thankfully our mum is now feeling much better.
Our experience in Stapley is a very positive done with warm, friendly approachable staff, who make our mum and us feel welcome and comfortable. They never stop and its appreciated! Thankyou.

I have been here 5 years now. I couldn't walk when I came in and I still can't walk. I live in Stapley Unit. I bless the carers every night. They do a great job, but when I want to go to the toilet I have to wait as the staff are busy getting people up. The food is nice, the cleaners are here every
day, the place is spotless. We went to the glasshouse yesterday and played dominoes. The only complaint is I only get a bath once a week. I feel this is very poor - we need extra staff especially in the morning.

My relative moved to Broadoak Manor in January 2025 after spending several months in a stroke unit at a hospital. The staff and care have been outstanding and he very quickly settled in. Staff on Stapeley Unit are amazing and go above and beyond.

To me it should be minus 10 . Please do NOT put your family or friends in this place. My mum went in for respite and now my mum is in hospital on end of life . She's has now got pneumonia an got left to rot. She's went in with no pressure sores and ended up with 5 big pressure sores on her bum, never
gave her oral care never showered her with in the 3 weeks of being there. I walked in and she had a mouth full of tablets and staff walked out of the room left her with a mouth full of tablets and the staff member knowing that my mum was struggling to swallow. She had no underwear on faeces on her pants . Staff smoking right out side the lounge not washing their hands eating of the food trolley which is stealing of the residents so residents get less food . My mom ended up with c.diff which was staffs fault due to their horrible hygiene and passing it on to residents making them ill. Night staff sleep or always on their phones unplugging my mum's sensor so she couldn't buzz.

This care home caused my nan to become seriously ill in less than 3 weeks time. Before she went in there she was happy healthy and content. After arriving into the care of this so called home, she went seriously down hill she lost majour weight, was incapable of doing things for herself, was getting
put into dirty clothes that's had faeces on and refused her personal hygiene even after being asked by other family members to give her a clean. The staff members smoke on resident site and don't wash there hands after it, contaminate the residents food by taking food of there trolly and eating it. My nan struggles to swallow and one night I've walked into her room and she was crying out someone please help me, the staff member that was on shift had walked out of her room and left tablets in her mouth that she could of choked on NOT ONCE BUT TWICE. If you think on putting your family in the hands of this care DO NOT DO IT. They will never be the same again.

My accommodation and activities in Boradoak Manor was very nice. The staff have been very homely and good to me and all the residents. I was pleasantly happy to be involved in all activities with the group. My peace and joy was when I was allowed to express my faith freely. It was very easy to attend
Mass at Church. I've also made many friends in the process. I will forever be thankful for the work of the staff, day/night shifts as well as the activities group who were here most sunny days. Thank you guys for the ride and friendship.

My mother went to Broad Oak Manor Nov 24 from hospital as end of life care. Since moving there she has progressed well. The family feel she is well cared for, kept clean and given nutrition and fluids. She is comfortable. We are always greeted well by staff and updated by unit manager. All staff appear
to be extremely busy. Laundry is cleaned well and returned by laundry staff to rooms. Very often notice activity going on e.g crafts, entertainment. At the present time, we are very happy with care.

Care staff and nurses are 10/10 second to none. I don't ask for much, but they asked me what I want and they give me everything what I need. I cannot fault anything, secondly the admin crew, they just don't do paper work but they are carers. They look after me too. You got to be a patient in here to
experience the true value of care to make you well again and get you back on your feet.

The staff really look after my mum. They take care of all her needs and she tells me how good they all are. She gets a good balanced diet and they ensure that she is kept off sweet treats due to her diabetes. She still has her dignity thanks to the staff.

Most staff and residents looked dirty, with dirty uniforms. Toilet paper on toilet floors and passageways. Incontinence pads left on the floor of rooms and also left beside sink. One pad found under resident's pillow! Activities are television 24/7 or armchair exercises. Communication poor between resident's
family and themselves, to the point of non-existant. Carers appear to sit around dining tables talking rather than talking to residents or actively doing duties.

Poor communication between myself and staff looking after relative. Social services extremely poor. Bedroom not cleaned properly. No attempt made to ensure my relative received her own clothing from the laundry, even though all clothing was named and with the room number.

Overall, very good experience. Would have been happier if there had been a way to indicate whether a buzzer press was for an emergency other than a service call.
Also, would have appreciated a wheelchair with leg support as I would then have been able to leave my room.

The unit, Ravon, at Broadoak Manor Care Home is very good. All the staff are caring and very friendly. They all seem to go the extra mile, you only have to ask and it's done straight away. The cleanliness is excellent, the food is lovely from what I have seen, even though it's coming up to Christmas.
The staff all put in for decorations for the Christmas tree and the building.
All in all, the care facilities are excellent.
P.S. My mother always said she would not go in a care home, even for respite, but she is enjoying it.

My nan only spent several months at Broadoak Manor Care Home, in Havana House, but what an impact the staff had on her and on us as a family. They cared for her as if she was part of their family. Every single staff member in Havana House went above and beyond to make sure my nan felt safe, happy, cared
for and loved. During the last few weeks of my nan's life, they did everything they could to keep up her quality of life taking her the zoo, cinema and letting her come home with family for a few hours when she could and make sure we, as a family could visit any time of the day. Staff all came in to say their goodbyes to my nan, even coming in on their days off to see her one last time, all with tears in their eyes. This was so lovely too see for us, as a family, because we knew our nan had the best care in the last months of her life. Thank you all so much, one staff member in particular and all your team really are amazing.

What does kindness mean to you?


“Getting to know our Residents, their history, likes and dislikes. I really enjoy sitting and having a chat, getting to know peoples’ life stories and history, and sharing mine too.”


As a Registered Adult Nurse, Patrick has gained many years of experience in providing care and support for older people to enrich their lives. He is a knowledgeable and dedicated leader who is passionate about delivering the highest possible standards of care and quality of life for Residents.


Patrick shares HC-One’s vision in aiming to provide the kindest care for each and every Resident. He uses his experience to motivate his team to deliver care and support in a way that Residents gain the most benefit, in a warm and welcoming home.


When asked what he enjoys most about his role, Patrick remarked:


“Meeting new people, in my job I speak to a lot of Residents, families, friends, Colleagues and professionals from the community.”


Outside of work, Patrick enjoys travelling and cruises, with his favourite place to visit being the USA. He also says his biggest achievement was when he finished university and registered as a nurse, as he was able to save up and buy a house with a garden, so he could get a pet dog.
