Built in 1857, Manor House is a listed building that has recently (Feb 23) been modernised and refurbished to a high standard across a number of units. The home has retained many of its original features, including an oak-panelled entrance hall and decorative ceilings. Many of the large bedrooms have views over the extensive grounds and have ensuite facilities.

Staff at The Manor House deliver high-quality care in a respectful and professional manner. The home provides a full range of care for older people including nursing, residential and dementia care for short or long term needs.

Residents can enjoy a seasonal daily menu which has been made using fresh ingredients. Annual special occasions are celebrated with themed meals throughout the year and residents are served a slice of homemade birthday cake on their special day.

Residents are encouraged to carry on with their favourite pastimes and hobbies and organised activities include keep fit, art, knitting and sewing.

A great program as usual, something for everyone. My father very settled and happy here. Nothing appears to much trouble for the staff who are all very pleasant and caring. The menu is excellent and my father is so well cared for and safe which gives great peace mind.

I looked at several care homes in the Wirral area and settled on this one. My father couldn't be happier. The carers, nurses, caterers, housekeeping staff and managers are all fantastic and provide the highest possible care for my Dad. There are lots of activities for the residents to choose from and
the grounds of the home are a lovely way to spend time outside. My father enjoys watching the bowls at the weekend and he particularly enjoys the meals provided whilst sitting in the dining room with his new friends. This home is highly recommended.

The Manor is a stately home! And everything is conducted in a like manner! The staff are kind, courteous and patient. Nothing is too much trouble. Their programme of activities is impressive. The food is excellent, every meal is a proper meal, not a light snack. The food is well-cooked and mostly homemade.
A real bonus. My husband was well cared for and kept safe at all times.

My Father became a Resident of The Manor House at the beginning of the month. It is far superior to the care homes that two of my other relatives experienced in the past. The atmosphere is welcoming and relaxed and my Father is already enjoying the activities that are provided for all residents. The
staff are professional and caring, and their smiles suggest that they too enjoy the environment they work in. The building and grounds are nothing short of spectacular. I have had the pleasure of meeting many staff in the short time he's been there and they make for a wonderful team. At the end of the day, the only person who can truly pass judgement about the home is my Father, and he is kicking himself for not moving in sooner!

This is to express my thanks to one staff member in particular who has gone above and beyond the call of duty by helping to take my mum's glasses to the opticians for repairing. This staff member has done this on more than one occasion. It's been really helpful as I'm Mum's only child and I live miles
away from the care home. Mum can't cope without her glasses so this staff member has been brilliant and helped us both. What a lovely lady.

My Brother stayed for two weeks respite. He was well looked after and gained more mobility again.
Should he ever need to go permanently into a care home he would be happy for it to be Upton Manor.
Did not complete tick box for value for money as have nothing to compare to.

My mother-in-law has just begun living as a resident at The Manor House, her friends and family wanted to see her on her birthday. The Manor House staff were so accommodating, the room was decorated beautifully, as well as the table setting and a great selection of party food was put on. It felt like

My mum resided here for 4 months. The managers loved her. When Mum needed hospice care, one of the managers fought for it for us. And when Mum sadly passed, they came to her funeral. That was touching. But I gave 2 stars because the home was not geared up for palliative care, and it was owned by Bupa.
I realised the seriousness of how Nursing homes should be geared up for palliative care. And how they should not involve any capitalist company re Bupa. As that is all about having less staff and making more money. For example, due to lack of staffing a male resident entered my mother's room and she was there alone with him. We were very upset about that. Also mum was left alone in the toilet for ages. Lack of palliative training led us to call safeguarding a few times and also the CHC. The CHC did step in and give palliative care advice to the home. The issues are not personal towards the staff and managers, it's to do with capitalism and lack of palliative training.

My mother came into the nursing home 18 months ago. She was poorly and spent all her time in bed. Since being cared for she has improved slowly but surely. At first, she would not leave her room but with all the staff's encouragement and kindness, my mother has now started to leave her room and join
in activities and socialise. This has improved her mental and physical well-being. All the staff are amazing and so caring. I would like to thank them all.

Beautiful building, facilities lovely, room suited to my needs. Kitchen staff accommodating and all meals presented well, great choice. Medicines sorted and delivered on time. All requests met quickly and no issue was too small. Staff lovely every one of them. My move-in and out (2 weeks of respite)
was seamless.

The Manor House in Upton is a fabulous care home. From the moment we went to view it, we saw it was something special. Not just because of the beautifully maintained historical building and the gardens, but especially because of the warmth and friendliness of the very caring staff. This care home has
everything my mother needs - lovely sunny, bright room with an ensuite shower room, great little break-out areas as well as the main facilities on the ground floor. Most important of all for us though were the staff. We knew Mum was being well looked after and treated as a guest, a valued guest, not just an inconvenience or a J2BD. Amazing!

Mum is very comfortable and is receiving excellent care at The Manor House. Her health is poor at the moment and the nursing staff are working hard with the local medical team to understand why. Monitoring, observing, reporting and escorting her to hospital appointments and co-ordinating her care. The
carer's have been adapting her diet and helping her with eating and drinking to encourage her appetite. All this has been done with great respect for her dignity and well-being. As a family, we couldn't wish for better care.

Where to begin? My husband had Alzheimer's and was 76 years old and I looked after him for many years. Our Alzheimer's journeys together at home ended when he began to need 24-hour-care. We then had to look for a care home, something I never thought I would have to contemplate.
In October 2023, he
entered The Manor House. As soon as I walked into The Manor, I knew it was right for us. My husband settled well and the staff welcomed my daily visits. They became friends and wonderful carers for him. My husband died in February 2024 and was cared for with dignity and love to the end. Thank you so much.

I joined The Manor House in May 2021 after taking a break from work to raise my family. Prior to working here, I have worked in events and ran my own business.


This is my first role in the care sector and certainly my most rewarding one! I love forming relationships with our residents. It's wonderful encouraging them to try new things, and working within the community.


I live locally with my partner, son, and cat. I enjoy reading, nature and spending time with my family.
