My mum resided here for 4 months. The managers loved her. When Mum needed hospice care, one of the managers fought for it for us. And when Mum sadly passed, they came to her funeral. That was touching. But I gave 2 stars because the home was not geared up for palliative care, and it was owned by Bupa. I realised the seriousness of how Nursing homes should be geared up for palliative care. And how they should not involve any capitalist company re Bupa. As that is all about having less staff and making more money. For example, due to lack of staffing a male resident entered my mother's room and she was there alone with him. We were very upset about that. Also mum was left alone in the toilet for ages. Lack of palliative training led us to call safeguarding a few times and also the CHC. The CHC did step in and give palliative care advice to the home. The issues are not personal towards the staff and managers, it's to do with capitalism and lack of palliative training.

Thank you for your review. I'm pleased to hear that your Mum felt loved during her stay with us last year and that you were supported by the managers at such a difficult time. I am truly sorry for your loss. I am sorry you felt the home was not able to offer your Mum the care you felt was needed....

My mother came into the nursing home 18 months ago. She was poorly and spent all her time in bed. Since being cared for she has improved slowly but surely. At first, she would not leave her room but with all the staff's encouragement and kindness, my mother has now started to leave her room and join in activities and socialise. This has improved her mental and physical well-being. All the staff are amazing and so caring. I would like to thank them all.

Beautiful building, facilities lovely, room suited to my needs. Kitchen staff accommodating and all meals presented well, great choice. Medicines sorted and delivered on time. All requests met quickly and no issue was too small. Staff lovely every one of them. My move-in and out (2 weeks of respite) was seamless.

The Manor House in Upton is a fabulous care home. From the moment we went to view it, we saw it was something special. Not just because of the beautifully maintained historical building and the gardens, but especially because of the warmth and friendliness of the very caring staff. This care home has everything my mother needs - lovely sunny, bright room with an ensuite shower room, great little break-out areas as well as the main facilities on the ground floor. Most important of all for us though were the staff. We knew Mum was being well looked after and treated as a guest, a valued guest, not just an inconvenience or a J2BD. Amazing!

Mum is very comfortable and is receiving excellent care at The Manor House. Her health is poor at the moment and the nursing staff are working hard with the local medical team to understand why. Monitoring, observing, reporting and escorting her to hospital appointments and co-ordinating her care. The carer's have been adapting her diet and helping her with eating and drinking to encourage her appetite. All this has been done with great respect for her dignity and well-being. As a family, we couldn't wish for better care.

Where to begin? My husband had Alzheimer's and was 76 years old and I looked after him for many years. Our Alzheimer's journeys together at home ended when he began to need 24-hour-care. We then had to look for a care home, something I never thought I would have to contemplate.

In October 2023, he entered The Manor House. As soon as I walked into The Manor, I knew it was right for us. My husband settled well and the staff welcomed my daily visits. They became friends and wonderful carers for him. My husband died in February 2024 and was cared for with dignity and love to the end. Thank you so much.

My father has been living at the Manor House since October 2022. The staff have all been wonderful and over this time we have got to know many of them well. My dad is well looked after, the laundry service is exemplary so he always has clean clothes, and he enjoys taking part in the various activities and outings arranged, as much as his condition will allow. He often praises the food, and although he has to have a modified diet, this is well accommodated for, he especially enjoys a glass of wine with his meals, or a beer in the garden, weather permitting! If he needs to attend a hospital appointment, The Manor takes care of transport arrangements and provides a member of staff to accompany Dad. Friends and family who visit Dad always praise the Manor and can't believe it's a care home and not a hotel! It's always a difficult decision to move into a care home, but I would not hesitate in recommending the Manor House.

I have nothing but praise for all the staff at the home I encountered during the time my husband was a resident in the Dementia unit. It felt like a home from home where my husband was loved and cared for very well. I also felt well supported by the staff during some difficult times. Family and friends who visited commented on how nice and welcoming it all felt and the lovely people looking after my husband. I had looked at several other homes before choosing The Manor and it was due to the staff that I made my decision, which I never regretted. I would have no hesitation in recommending it to anyone.

Our gran was discharged from hospital to the Manor House in August 2023 for end-of-life care. We sadly lost her on 9th November 2023. I cannot begin to put into words the amazing care received from start to finish. What an amazing place and everyone there contributed to my gran having the best final weeks of her 95 years of life. Special thanks to her carer she was an absolute living angel.

Mum was at The Manor House Care Home for three months. In those months she was very well looked after. Every member of staff has been great. Every visit was emotional, visiting Mum but the staff made it an easy visit. The lady in the office (to left of main door) and at the reception desk are very welcoming. The caretaker going about his business is always friendly. The kitchen staff assisted me with the door entry system a few times. (not their job but no problem). Then you get to the Stern Suite and Mum's room, wonderful. Mum felt like she was in her own flat. Cannot praise the staff on this suite enough. A special thank you to the end-of-life nurse and her colleague who made Mum's last hours the best they could and looked after us as a family. The end-of-life nurse is a very special person. Love The Manor House Care Home. Would always recommend it.

The care home is good. In particular, the permanent staff are absolutely excellent. There is evidence of great kindness and in our experience, staff listen and respond to residents and their families. They are genuinely interested in getting things right. In the past few months, the staffing has become more stable which is so helpful for everyone. The environment is well cared for and always clean. The bedrooms are modern and nicely decorated and some have a view over the garden. The public rooms are large and adaptable. Clothes are laundered well and dad is kept clean and tidy. I have met and like the visiting GP. I felt confident that she was familiar with my dad's health issues. Meals can be taken in a resident's room or in the main dining room. I cannot comment on their quality though there is choice and wine is available with dinner. My only reservation is with regard to activities - though they are listed they seem quite minimal.

My aunt was a resident at the Manor House for 8 weeks. She sadly passed away yesterday evening. The night staff on duty on the Inman Wing were absolutely fantastic. They showed my aunt the upmost respect and were compassionate to the end. They treated her with dignity and care for which we are very grateful. The staff at the Manor House were wonderful throughout her stay and in particular we would like to thank nine members of staff for their professionalism, care, and compassion. The Manor House itself is a fantastic care facility set in beautiful grounds. The Manor House is clean and welcoming and the staff are very friendly and approachable. Relatives are not just welcome to visit at any time, they are also made to feel welcome. The Inman Wing feels more like a hotel than a care home and is not clinical in any way. We are glad that we chose The Manor House to care for my aunt.

I decided upon respite care at The Manor as it would have been impossible to be at home after decompression surgery at the Waldon Centre. The nursing care was very good and general assistance also very good. I was helped to become more independent by all members of staff and enjoyed walking in the grounds and spending time with residents. The negative side would be the lack of choice where food was concerned. Mince on one of the hottest days. I would have loved a healthy salad with new potatoes and cold meat, but thank you.

My wife was admitted to The Manor House Care Home at the end of March due to an advanced cancer diagnosis, which meant that she could not be cared for at home. Since her arrival, the level of care and attention she has received from the nurses, carers and management has been second to none. I would highly recommend anybody looking for care home residency to look at The Manor House Care Home before anywhere else.

I joined The Manor House in May 2021 after taking a break from work to raise my family. Prior to working here, I have worked in events and ran my own business.

This is my first role in the care sector and certainly my most rewarding one! I love forming relationships with our residents. It's wonderful encouraging them to try new things, and working within the community.

I live locally with my partner, son, and cat. I enjoy reading, nature and spending time with my family.
