My Aunt has been resident at Apples House for 2 years now. She has dementia and has been well cared for and loved by the wonderful staff. She is always clean, well-fed and has her hair done weekly. There is always daily entertainment. I am made welcome on my weekly visits and always kept up to date
with her health and well being. The staff do a very good job under very trying circumstances.

All I can say is that Apple House at Woodheath has saved my sanity. My lovely auntie has just turned 94 years with dementia. Before she went to Apple House I was trying to battle ill health myself and look after her. Now, I cannot praise the staff (now my friends) enough.
They are the most caring,
friendly, sensitive girls I have ever met. They treat their residents with the same sort of love that most people would give to their mums and dads. There is love, laughter and at times tears.
They are angels and I've booked my room.

Very impressed with the care my mother-in-law has received and how well staff have supported my father-in-law. No matter what time of the day or night I have visited all staff have been friendly, caring and responsive to our needs and have ensured she is comfortable and pain-free.
I cannot praise the
staff and home highly enough.

Amazing. My Mum is 92 and lived at home with Dad, 94, until January this year. A wheelchair user, registered blind, deaf and multiple health problems. Since January, periods in hospital and temporary care homes. Then we found Woodheath. The family cannot fault the care and friendliness of the staff.
Nothing is too much trouble. My Mum needs hoisting and even that is not a problem. Thank goodness for Woodheath. Gold stars all around.

I was looking after my wife and realised that at 90 years of age, I could not cope. A friend told me about Woodheath and I went to see for myself. I was very impressed by the happiness of the staff and the hygiene was remarkable. My wife became a resident and could not have had better attention. Sadly
she passed away after a short stay. The concern and sympathy shown to me and my family were outstanding. Thanks to all, God bless.

My mum has been at Woodheath Nursing and Residential Home since October 2018 and is like a new person, she is so happy and well looked after. She really enjoys the daily chair exercises that take place. Enjoys her food and adores all the staff with whom she has a laugh daily. The staff are so friendly
and welcoming to visitors and Woodheath has a very warm, homely atmosphere.

My Mum was resident at Woodheath for over two and a half years. She was treated with care and dignity and with love, as were we relatives. I cannot praise highly enough the love and warmth shown to both mum and to ourselves. All the staff are very special people and we were constantly amazed at their
patience and care and importantly the hugs!!

My aunty is a happy resident of Woodheath and reached the grand age of 97 last week.
As I am in India until the end of March this year, I decided to contact Woodheath for me to make a phone call to my Aunt to mark the occasion of her birthday. A director returned my email request with total due diligence
for me to make my call at a specific time and this was duly arranged and conducted to perfection - so A BIG THANK YOU.

We have been to the home on several occasions since my aunt moved in and all I can say is she is very happy there - which says it all in my books.

Well done Woodheath and staff for your deserved consistent high score reviews.

My grandmother has only been in Apple House a short time. The staff are warm friendly and welcoming, the care they offer is excellent, it has made a world of difference to my gran, she is happier, gaining weight and settled. As a family, we are always made welcome and nothing it too much trouble. We
have been given so much advice and support, both before and after my gran joined them which made it so much easier for us and her.

The staff at Woodheath cared for my mother-in-law for the last two and a half years whilst she was in the final stages of a complex and rare brain disease. The staff were fantastic throughout with a particular appreciation for their outstanding support and care in the end of life process. The current
management are excellent and has retained a fantastic set of staff who deserve praise and recognition for the incredibly difficult job they do.

My mother in law has improved dramatically since she moved to Woodheath in February 2018. We are confident that she is well cared for and her diabetic needs are well managed. The staff are always friendly and show the residents kindness and respect. Visitors are welcomed and feel part of the Woodheath
family. My husband and I are delighted that she is so well cared for.

As a family, we could not have wished for better care. All the staff go above and beyond to ensure the comfort and dignity of my brother, nothing is too much trouble. The food is of an excellent standard, all the carers have been able to identify his needs (such as hot food and drinks), he is treated
with respect, kindness and have given the family peace of mind for the time we have with him. Many thanks to you all.

My mother moved into Apple House recently. She has severe dementia. Mum is clean, neat and well cared for. All her medical needs are immediately attended to and the staff take great care of her. She takes part in daily activities and enjoys her food. The staff are wonderful and the home is modern and
well furnished. I couldn't wish for a better place for her. She is happy and content.

Current Review Score: 9.8 (9.831)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.8 (9.831) out of 10 for Woodheath Nursing & Residential Home is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.8 out of 5 from 20 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 5.0 out of 5 from 20 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.831 for Woodheath Nursing & Residential Home is calculated as follows: ( (201 Excellents x 5) + (32 Goods x 4) + (4 Satisfactorys x 3) ) ÷ 237 Ratings = 4.831
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 5 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Woodheath Nursing & Residential Home is based on 20 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 20 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews, 0.05 Points for the next five Positive Reviews, and finally 0.025 Points for the next ten Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.050, 7th = 0.050, 8th = 0.050, 9th = 0.050, 10th = 0.050, 11th = 0.025, 12th = 0.025, 13th = 0.025, 14th = 0.025, 15th = 0.025, 16th = 0.025, 17th = 0.025, 18th = 0.025, 19th = 0.025, 20th = 0.025) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 = 4
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 61 registered maximum number of service users is 12.2, which has been reached with 20 Positive reviews. Points = 1
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.

I am a Registered Manager at Woodheath Care Home, where I have been leading since September 2024. Before this, I spent 4 years as a Nursing Home Manager, building on over 7 years of experience within the nursing home setting, where I originally started my journey as a nurse. My career in care has been shaped by steady progression, hands-on leadership, and a strong commitment to high standards.

During my time as a manager, I successfully maintained a “Good” rating in the last CQC inspection in my previous home.

My clinical background is diverse, spanning critical care wards, custody nursing, and several other frontline roles that have given me broad insight into patient needs and staff support. I first qualified as a nurse in 2007, driven by a lifelong passion for caring for others, and I remain proud of the journey that has brought me here.

Beyond my professional life, I enjoy dog walking with my two spaniels, running, and travelling, which help me balance a rewarding but demanding career with personal wellbeing.
