We, as a family, can't thank the staff enough for the love, care and dedication. We would highly recommend Apple House (Woodheath) to anyone looking for a lovely home for any member of their family looking for care.

As mum has been resident since September 2017, I have been able to observe Apple House (In Woodheath) and staff on a better level. My mum is happy and well looked after. She is cared for with great compassion by all the Apple House staff who also accommodate us as a family with answers to any questions. They have many days of "entertainment" and "therapy" which keeps mum stimulated.

Her clothing and bedding is always immaculate, she has her hair done weekly and personal hygiene is at a high level.

A caring comfortable residence whose staff exceed what is expected of them. Very clean, good variety of food, happy atmosphere. Daycare is constantly updated and night care is now on 1 hourly round (checked hourly) with full report available each day.

Families and friends of residents are always welcomed with a smile and updated if requested. All in all a home from home with safety, care, comfort and happiness paramount.

My mother was in Woodheath for 2 months until her death in Nov 2017. It was not an easy time for her or her family but we were impressed by the family atmosphere, friendliness of the staff and their kindness to her and all the family in her last weeks. The end of life care was personal and impressive and analgesia when required was given promptly and efficiently. The building is not an easy one to live or work in but it was always warm and clean, the food home cooked on the premises and looked very good. Woodheath cherished us all at a vulnerable time.

My mother arrived at the home in July 2017. She was at that time in extremely poor health having spent several weeks in different hospitals she was regularly having panic attacks, dizziness etc.
She was rapidly losing weight. My mother now has put on weight does not suffer panic attacks and only very occasionally suffers from dizziness.

She is 96 years old and is happier than she has been for 20 years.

My mother was transferred into Woodheath Nursing Home in May following an extended stay in hospital, when it was decided she was unable to stay at home any longer.

Her initial reaction was okay but as with anyone, it is hard to give up independence and admit that you can no longer cope at home.

On my first visit to Woodheath, I found the staff to be very welcoming and helpful and nothing seemed to be too much trouble. Mum is settling in nicely and each time I visit she seems more settled than ever. She is responding much better and I can see an improvement in her anxiety. I have no doubt this is due to the continuing care she is receiving from all the staff at Woodheath.

Living so far away and not being able to see mum on a daily basis, I feel happy and confident that she is being well looked after.

Thank you to everyone at Woodheath.

From the moment my mother entered the home, she has been happier than she had for many years whilst living at home. The staff will do anything for her and are lovely, warm, caring people. I could not have asked for anything better and am relieved that she is in safe hands.

Staff are caring, professional and very approachable. On a personal level I have found them supportive and would describe them as an extended family with regard to me and the care of my mother. I can be myself both when enjoying a visit, having a laugh or when times are difficult which can be upsetting - a hug has been just what I need.

My visits to Apple House at Woodheath have been positive experiences and I have rated the overall care provision highly.
The main assets of the unit are the staff who provide a very caring and friendly living environment for our mum.
Her bedroom is warm, clean and comfortable and the level of cleanliness in the communal areas is excellent.
Mum really enjoys the food which is homemade and always looks appetising.
Improvements could be made to the provision of daily activities but I'm informed this is currently in hand.

I would like to express our sincere thanks to the staff for their patience, help and professionalism in care for our mum.

I am very pleased with the way my mother is looked after. I did not want my mum to go in a home. I am pleased to say I did the right thing, I am made up as facilities and staff are excellent at taking care of my mum.

Mum was admitted for emergency short term care at Woodheath and I am really impressed with the care and support we have received from Apple House at this stressful time. The deputy manager of Apple House has been particularly wonderful. Woodheath has provided mum with a safe place with regular meals, company and social activities and the family with peace of mind.

Mum's room is clean, comfortable and has private en-suite shower facility and overlooking the garden.

I am really pleased with mum's care during the past 2 weeks and I am happy to write this review.

Thank you.

The impression of Woodheath from the very first time I visited was the cleanliness on entering, the friendliness of the staff and how comfortable the rooms are. Since my husband has been a resident he has improved physically and his hygiene is second to none thanks to the care and attention of the staff couldn't ask for a better place for my husband.

My mum is a resident in Apple House, where the staff are great. They work very hard & treat all residents with care, respect and dignity.

My mum has said the food is lovely and although I've not stayed for a meal yet myself (although I can), the food does look very good. Also, Apple House at Woodheath is very clean.

Overall, the care and facilities at Apple House are very good, however, one issue I have is the lack of activities, although I'm informed that an Activities Coordinator will be appointed very soon

All the staff were very pleasant and kind to my mother. We were very apprehensive about her coming into a nursing home but soon felt reassured. The food was excellent and the staff went out of their way to always give my mother something she liked.

The only negative was the room needed a lick of paint and some more pictures maybe?.

I am a Registered Manager at Woodheath Care Home, where I have been leading since September 2024. Before this, I spent 4 years as a Nursing Home Manager, building on over 7 years of experience within the nursing home setting, where I originally started my journey as a nurse. My career in care has been shaped by steady progression, hands-on leadership, and a strong commitment to high standards.

During my time as a manager, I successfully maintained a “Good” rating in the last CQC inspection in my previous home.

My clinical background is diverse, spanning critical care wards, custody nursing, and several other frontline roles that have given me broad insight into patient needs and staff support. I first qualified as a nurse in 2007, driven by a lifelong passion for caring for others, and I remain proud of the journey that has brought me here.

Beyond my professional life, I enjoy dog walking with my two spaniels, running, and travelling, which help me balance a rewarding but demanding career with personal wellbeing.
