Acorn Meadow care home, situated in the beautiful part of Lostock Gralam, Northwich, supports older people to lead their best lives with personalised residential dementia care.

This newly-refurbished, cosy home has been tastefully decorated for maximum comfort whilst the landscaped garden provides a restful place for residents to catch up with friends and family or simply to enjoy the outdoors with a cup of tea. To ensure residents always feel at home, the comfortable living areas and bedrooms are all easily accessible by wheelchair.

From Care Assistants to Wellbeing Coordinators and Chefs, each and every member of the professional care team is there to make Acorn Meadow a home from home for all residents. And with a wealth of knowledge and experience in the care sector, the Home Manager leads the team to ensure residents are supported to live the best quality of life.

The catering team at Acorn Meadow care home understand the nutritional needs of older people and create delicious meals to ensure a lovely dining experience for all of residents as well as visitors. They offer a wide range of popular dining areas that provide a welcoming space to enjoy meals.

Learning about each resident’s hobbies and interests enables the dedicated and professional care team to design a comprehensive activity programme, supporting those living in the home to enjoy the things they love most. The care home has a very nice atmosphere where carers help make the experience amazing for my grandma. The themed parties and events really show how much effort and care is put into making everyone enjoy themselves and always get my grandma laughing and smiling. She has been able to make friends and
enjoy her time here.

My mum has been a resident at Acorn Meadow since 2023. She has settled in beautifully thanks to the care and compassion of the staff, the excellent array of activities, the delicious cakes and the friendly residents.

The staff go over and above; they are so caring, work so hard, they never stop caring! They are always smiling/laughing.
Since Mum came to Acorn Meadow, she has settled now, enjoying herself so much more. It makes me happy if she is happy.

My mum has been here since December 2021 and I really worried about putting her in a home. She suffers from vascular dementia but looking at her you wouldn't think anything is wrong with her only by some of the things she says. I'm so happy she is well looked after and is happy and safe.

Lovely care home. The staff are so caring and friendly. Dad is really well looked after. I can approach staff at any time with any issues or advice I need regarding my dad. We are always welcome to visit and are treated well. Dad is very happy here. Highly recommended.

All the staff at Acorn Meadow have been great, from Mum arriving for respite care through the transition to being a permanent resident. They have made what is a difficult time for both Mum and us, her family, much easier than we thought it might be. Mum has settled well and is happy and so are we.

After the obvious initial concerns about Mum going into a care home, I was absolutely delighted on my first visit; the home is very clean and tidy and bright and all the staff that I have met have been very pleasant and helpful. Mum has settled in very well and seems very relaxed there.

My dad came here at Christmas and the care is excellent. The staff are extremely attentive and do everything in their power to look after all the residents. Dad very often takes naps and is regularly checked on and nothing is too much trouble for the staff. I am now so relieved that my dad is safe and
he is enjoying his time and making friends and prefers to talk to everyone rather than us when we visit.

My parents view this respite break as a hotel break. Staff are excellent in all aspects of care and attention. Dad recently required hospital care and contact with the home was excellent during the stay. (Mum remained in the home.)

Mum loves it here. The staff are very friendly, nothing too much trouble. They always ask for permission for injections, they don't do anything without me knowing. Mum loves having her nails and hair done.

My wife has been a resident since the beginning of 2020. She has a wonderful relationship with all the carers and other staff. She is well settled and well looked after. As far as I can tell in her late stage of Alzheimer's, she is happy in this home. Thank you all for what you have done for her.

Today was the open day after the refurbishment of Avandale Lodge. First and foremost, all the staff are very welcoming and helpful. They all give the residents genuine care. The care home has been tastefully redecorated and has a welcoming feel about it. I am sure all the residents will feel at home

As a dedicated healthcare professional, Lorna has gained a wealth of experience in providing care and support to elderly people, to enrich their lives. She is a knowledgeable and dedicated leader who is passionate about delivering the highest standards in care and quality of life for residents.


Having worked at HC-One for many years, Lorna closely shares HC-One’s vision in aiming to provide the kindest care for each and every resident. She extends this caring approach to her colleagues and works closely with them to deliver care and support to residents in a way that they gain the most benefit, in a warm and welcoming home.


When asked what she enjoys most about her role, Lorna remarked:


“Every day is a different day, and I enjoy meeting different people and knowing and forming a bond with residents and relatives.”
