Hazelmere House Care Home Reviews (100)

Firstly, I would like to suggest that an elderly person, say 80 years (less or more) I would benefit from being initiated into the use and control of the new ripple bed. I am 81 years old and had no initiation into this, I still struggle with the controls after 10 days here!
One thing more I could mention is that at home I have an evening main meal at 6 pm, here I am hungry by bedtime. They have suggested a sandwich but I have not seen one yet!
Thank you for your review. We really appreciate your feedback and I will look into resolving this for you.
I cannot comment on the food and drink as my wife is Peg fed.
Thank you for your review and I am pleased to hear that your wife has settled down well in Hazelmere House.
Excellent service. Very friendly staff and proactive in introducing my mother to other residents.
I'm really glad to hear this and thank you for posting your review.
The staff are what make this care home, no question about it. The time they spend with the residents and their caring approach is great. No care home is perfect, Hazelmere has a few scuffs and marks here and there but, and it is a big but, it doesn't smell, is clean and welcoming, a few scuffs just don't matter.
Thank you for your review and your kind words about our amazing staff.
Dad thoroughly enjoyed his ten days stay during the Christmas period. He was made to feel so welcome by all the staff; who were extremely accommodating to his needs. The home is clean and welcoming and dad commented that 'It was like being in a hotel!'. Many thanks to everyone who made dad's stay a wonderful experience. We would most definitely recommend Hazelmere House to others.
Thank you for your review. I'm so glad to hear that your dad enjoyed his stay with us and hope that he will come and stay with us again for some respite care.
My mother has been a resident of Hazelmere House for nearly 12 months after suffering a fall at her home in Leeds. At 95, her health has deteriorated but we are satisfied all her needs and personal care is met. They really try to meet the resident's individual needs and assist the family with friendly professional support. We made a good choice.
Thank you for your review. We are pleased to hear about your positive experience and appreciate your comments about our home and will share your comments with the home’s manager.
My mum settled in here much easier than expected. This must be a testament to the care and the staff. All of the staff throughout have been excellent, both in terms of care and the management/support side. The rooms are very nice, even when staying on a respite basis (so with no home touches).
Mum felt treated with respect and dignity. Facilities and activities were also very good.

There has been a massive improvement since the arrival of the new manager. There is still much improvement needed in many areas. The shower in my father's bathroom does not drain properly. The whole room gets flooded every time they give him a shower, hence the smell of dampness inside. Sometimes carers forget to dispose of pads and urine containers. I would like to see improvement in attention to detail for carers. The glasses, dishes and cutlery are not cleaned well enough, needs attention.
Thank you for your review. Your comments are extremely important to us and our residents’ health and wellbeing is our absolute priority. We will discuss your feedback with the home’s manager to help them continually improve their service.
The caring and nursing staff were very efficient and very caring, and very friendly. Nothing was too much trouble. The room was badly in need of refurbishment but otherwise OK.

She particularly enjoys the activities which are stimulating and varied.
Thank you for your review. It is lovely to know that your mother in law is settled and enjoying the activities, and that you have peace of mind knowing that she is well cared for.
My mum was at Hazelmere House Care Home for 10 months. I spent a lot of time with her with her so had first-hand experience of what happens at night as I stayed late on. The most important aspect of any care home is the quality of the carers. The standard was high throughout not just in terms of technical skills but their attitude and manner of speaking to the residents (and me). They are all genuinely caring and interested not as an act it was sincere that shone through. Time management skills were noticeably good as was their teamwork, they worked well with each other which is vital in a busy care home. The organisation of infrastructure and services is of a high standard. If anything breaks; eg electrical, someone is immediately on hand to fix. Varied entertainment is available every day for those interested, again due to the high calibre of staff running this part. The management quality is high, for example, I recently needed some follow up of documentation which wasn't readily accessible, the effort was made to acquire what I needed very speedily. Similarly, the admin team were always helpful, approachable and efficient. Yes, I would certainly recommend Hazelmere House Care Home.

The staff have been extremely caring and professional, ensuring that my father in law was always treated with care and respect and always with a cheerful disposition.
The facilities at Hazelmere House are also excellent.

I am the daughter of a resident. Mum has improved greatly since coming into the home. The staff have been excellent with my mother.

The staff and management are all extremely friendly, helpful and caring. Medical support and attention is very prompt when needed.
Happy with stay, cheerful, pleasant staff, food good, comfortable good attention.
My mother has been in the home for 9 years until she died on October 1st. The carer she received over her time there was excellent and the home is very clean and well appointed. The staff were caring and helpful. I would recommend to anyone.
At times a bit too much chatter amongst staff and I do feel maybe there should be more staff for evening (not night). Every time I asked for someone to come mid evening they replied "We'll come when we can" and I felt such a nuisance, but I did need my bed with getting up so early (6am) I did need help undressing and getting into bed and my commode bringing in!! I think because I try to look nice and be nice to everyone the staff think I am younger than I am- 87 in Dec! I had a bad fall before I came in which has taken away my confidence.
We take all comments extremely seriously and are very disappointed to hear that you are unsatisfied with your experience of the staff at Hazelmere House. We would like to contact you so that we can discuss this in more detail and investigate it fully. Please can you send your details to our customer services team - feedback@bupa.com - so that we can give you a call to discuss this feedback.
I have only come in for a week, while my family are away and I was very worried, as it is the first time I have been anywhere without my family, but I have been very surprised how good this home is. I can't speak highly enough of the care and attention that I have had. All the staff are amazing, nothing is too much trouble for them to do for you. The bedrooms are spacious, with ensuite. I am not good on direction, but one of the carers will come and take me from bedroom to downstairs in the lift. If you have to spend any time in a care home, you could not go to one better than here.

Meet the Team (4)

I have worked for Bupa for 5 years. I previously worked in the police force as a communications officer, followed by home care, where I then progressed into care homes and worked my way up to where I am today.
Caring for residents is my passion, and ensuring all their needs are met. I love engaging with families and the team to ensure Hazelmere House is a great place to live and work.
I am married with three grown-up children and a granddaughter who is five. I live in Knutsford, and in my spare time, I love spending time with my family, going on walks with our dog, having sunny holidays and socialising with friends!

I've worked at Bupa for 8 years and really enjoy my job and like the company I work for.
I get a lot of job satisfaction helping/supporting the residents, they are wonderful people who have a lot of interesting stories to tell.
Before working at Hazelmere I was a registered mental health nurse at Brookview care home.

My first role here was actually as the maintenance person back in 2011. I'd never even considered becoming the Resident Experience Manager, but when the opportunity came up I was encouraged to apply... and I guess the rest is history, because I've been in love with the role every since.
It's a really diverse and rewarding position. I tend to be involved in a lot of show-rounds and make sure the admissions process runs smoothly. I also support all the hotel services here in the home - they can be so important in making sure people feel comfortable and reassured.
It can sometimes be quite sensitive when people come for a visit so the very least we can give them is a warm welcome and complete honesty. Trusted advice doesn't cost a penny, but it can be invaluable - and from a personal perspective, I really do get a lot of satisfaction from feeling that I'm making a different and making people happier.

I was a registered nurse for 10 years in West Yorkshire, including roles in private nursing homes. I later worked for the youth criminal justice system. I love being back in a care setting; apart from the satisfaction of our team ensuring the home is clean & tidy, I love to talk to residents about their lives and achievements. We have a really friendly atmosphere here at Hazelmere House.
I live locally with my husband, daughter, dog and 2 cats. My two sons come and go as their careers allow. In my spare time, we enjoy listening to live music and going to the cinema & theatre. I keep fit kickboxing with my daughter & lots of dog walks!
