I cannot speak highly enough of the staff in Beech House and the outstanding way in which they have cared for my husband over the past year and more. All of them have gone out of their way to ensure he feels safe and secure and that his personal needs and interests - particularly his long held food likes and dislikes - are respected and catered for. That each household has its own kitchen, situated adjacent to where many residents choose to sit, means that the familiar sights, sounds and smells associated with food preparation - the mixing and baking of puddings and cakes, peeling and chopping vegetables, making pizzas, cooking and carving the Sunday roast – can be enjoyed close up and on a daily basis. This highly valued ‘home from home’ arrangement, in which all staff take turns to cook, not only allows flexibility around the ‘what’ and ‘when’ of residents’ mealtimes, it also provides the perfect environment for staff and residents to interact in a routine, relaxed and easy manner.
Thank you for taking the time to submit your review of Belong Macclesfield. The staff teams work hard to ensure a warm, friendly, welcoming and homely atmosphere and so we are delighted to hear that this has been your experience. I will ensure your kind words are shared with the team. Thank you for choosing Belong Macclesfield.
Overall, I am very satisfied with the care my husband is receiving in the Beech House in Belong. I understand the aim is to present a family atmosphere but I believe it puts pressure on the staff who are employed as carers. Too much time is spent preparing and cooking food. That time would be better spent with residents. I believe someone should be employed to do the vegetable preparations and the baking, leaving the carers to do their job. My concern is that, if a resident needs urgent attention, care is delayed because staff are peeling vegetables or baking cakes. I would appreciate management comments.
Thank you for taking the time to submit your review of Belong Macclesfield. We are happy to hear that you are overall satisfied with your experience of Belong. I will be in touch shortly to discuss your feedback regarding the staff on Beech House and to discuss this in more detail and try to resolve your concerns. Thank you for choosing Belong Macclesfield.
A strong recommendation from a colleague led to my initially exploring the Experience Days at Belong Macclesfield for my wife with advancing dementia. The positive experience convinced the family that this care home would fulfil our aspirations for a safe and caring end-of-life home. Then a 5-month hospitalisation followed in a dementia assessment unit before my wife transferred to Holly House in Belong Macclesfield where her behavioural problems were initially quite challenging. The staff were simply outstanding in their empathy, patience, care and sensitivity, displaying a clear understanding and experience of the care required for such patients.
Thank you for taking the time to submit your review of Belong Macclesfield. We aim to be as supportive as possible and to maintain high standards across our community and village services and we are delighted to hear that this has been your experience. I will ensure your kind comments are shared with all members of the team. Thank you for choosing Belong Macclesfield.
From the moment we entered the building, on our initial visit, it was clear that the staff were dedicated to giving my Mum the best care possible. Two of the senior managers took time out to sit with my Mum, answer her questions and assure her that they would take good care of her. From that Mum started attending the Experience Days, initially once a week and then twice a week. The Engagement Day team have been great in helping her, providing company and support. Mum speaks very highly of them, the activities and of course the food and looks forward to each visit.
Thank you for taking the time to submit your review of Belong Macclesfield. It is crucial to us that we make people's time with us as special and as positive as possible. It will mean a great deal to the experience days team to read your comments and I will ensure they are shared with everyone. Thank you for choosing Belong Macclesfield.
I have just stayed in the visitor's room (Autumn suite) for 1 week, situated only 5 metres from my mother's front door. It was like staying in her spare room at home. So convenient, so clean and everything provided for me i.e. ensuite, tea and coffee, multi channel tv, a lockable side table drawer for valuables and on top of it all, great value for money! The staff here could not be friendlier or more helpful. All in all a wonderful stay and I can't wait to visit my mother again in her elegant apartment at Belong Macclesfield.
Thank you for taking the time to review the Autumn Suite at Belong Macclesfield. We aim to maintain high standards and are delighted to hear that this has been your experience; I will share your comments with the team.
My mum is cared for in the Willow Household at Belong Macclesfield. From her arrival, she has been cared for to the highest degree with dignity, empathy and emotionally. For myself and my sisters, the support has also been amazing. After two previously unpleasant experiences we are so relieved and grateful to have found Belong Macclesfield. Thank you so much to all the staff involved in caring for our mum.

The standard of care is excellent. The carers are all delightful and work extremely hard. The only things that let the organisation down are staffing shortages at peak times and the extremely poor standard of the food. The menu seems extremely poor and often unsuitable for residents who get very little exercise.
Thank you for taking the time to submit your review of Belong Macclesfield. We are happy to hear that you are overall happy with the service provided, however we are sorry that you are not fully satisfied with your experience of Belong Macclesfield. We appreciate feedback from customers and...

We have struggled to find a suitable care home for Dad since he first required care in May 2017. Belong has provided the care Dad needs - it is such a relief that he is now cared for so well. Thank you!!

Dad entered Belong Macclesfield in mid-August 2018. He has been treated with the utmost care and respect throughout that time. He has been referred to specialist services in order to meet his needs. The management of the home have been more than willing to assist with any issues that have arisen and made us feel very welcome.
Thank you for taking the time to submit your review of Belong Macclesfield. We are happy to hear that your experience has been so positive and trust that it will continue to be so. Thank you for choosing Belong Macclesfield.

After introducing her by her attending activity days 1 day a week, we quickly increased to 3 days a week with at home carers collecting and returning her, then an extra in home visit on a Saturday. Moved into an apartment at Belong, still attends activity days Monday to Friday with at home carers visiting 2 times a day.
Thank you for taking the time to submit your review of Belong Macclesfield. It's fantastic to hear that your mum enjoyed the activities at the village with the support of the Belong at Home team and is now continuing to enjoy these services whilst living in a Belong apartment. Thank you for choosing Belong Macclesfield, it's a pleasure to have your mum living with us.

Everyone is so caring. I am so pleased I have come to live here and so are my family.
Thank you very much for taking the time to provide this lovely feedback. It means a great deal to the team here and we are so pleased to hear that you are happy at Belong Macclesfield.
I have found the team spirit throughout Belong Macclesfield wonderful. The onset of dementia meant moving my mum from her living assisted flat into a residential household. During this extremely difficult and stressful time for us both, every member of staff in every department dedicated a large amount of time and effort to make the transition as smooth as possible. Their care and attention to mum's changing needs is heartwarming. The support and friendship they constantly offer me has been crucial. We are both treated with so much respect and the relaxed atmosphere makes visiting very sociable and enjoyable. Communication is very efficient and I feel that mum's future is safe. A weight has been lifted from my shoulders, yet I am still involved in decision making.
Since writing the above review, my mum has sadly passed away. However, the end of life care she received from all staff was unbelievably tender, personal and compassionate. The kindness and support offered to me (by all departments, but especially by Willow household care staff) removed so much stress, and I certainly did not feel alone at any stage of the week-long process. My memories of mum's last week will be of us both surrounded by warmth and love. At the end of the day, I couldn't ask for more than that, and will be eternally grateful! Incredibly special staff!
Thank you for taking the time to submit your review of Belong Macclesfield. We are so touched by your kind words and we are so pleased to hear that we are able to support both you and your mum. The staff team will be thrilled to hear your positive feedback and we will aim to keep our services to such high standards; thanks again.
My mother has been a resident of Belong Macclesfield since June 2017. She has received the most attentive, compassionate and thoughtful care from those around her. She is a highly intelligent and independent woman who would not have chosen to give up her independence but Dementia is a cruel and indiscriminate illness; her inevitable DOL (Deprivation of Liberty) meant there was no option but to be cared for. This sorry situation has been dealt with in an outstanding manner; my mother has been taken swimming, gone for endless walks, received continual pampering as well as the sort of emotional support normally expected from family.
We regularly go away but feel reassured that in our absence everyone at Belong is behaving like the family she needs. We cannot speak highly enough of the service and have already encouraged our neighbour to change care providers on the strength of Belong’s outstanding care of my mother.
Thank you so much for this lovely review! It is a privilege to have your mother staying with us at Belong Macclesfield. Our staff work really hard to ensure a homely, friendly and supportive environment and the staff teams will be delighted to hear that she is enjoying her stay with us.
Carers are always helpful and kind. They take the trouble to find out what is wanted and how things are usually done. They are always interesting to talk to.
Thank you for taking the time to provide this positive feedback on the carers at Belong Macclesfield. Our staff do their best to understand every customer and it is a pleasure to chat with residents and their families. Kind regards.
Mum has been a resident since December 2016, the care she receives is excellent as nothing is too much trouble for the staff who are extremely patient and explain everything slowly and carefully to mum. They all go out of their way to help mum when she becomes confused, the job requires someone with the patience of a saint as it is extremely demanding and tiring, all the girls always put my mother needs first, thank you.
Thank you for taking the time to submit your review of Belong Macclesfield. We are delighted to hear that your mum has settled in and is happy here and that the dedication of our staff teams are making a difference. Kind regards.
My wife attended Belong Macclesfield firstly for respite care in November 2016 as I cared for my wife at home for nearly 6 years. I was finding day to day care hard some days I needed to re-charge my batteries. All the staff are excellent each and everyone helpful, caring and supportive to my wife's needs. In December 2016 my wife became a resident after another fall when she required a hip operation. I would not hesitate in recommending Belong Macclesfield as a 5-star resort as the care my wife received is exceptional and second to none.
Thank you for taking the time to submit your review of Belong Macclesfield, we really appreciate you taking the time to provide it. Our village teams will be delighted to hear that your wife is settled and happy. We aim to deliver high-quality care to all of our residents and so we are happy to hear that this is your experience. Kind regards.
My mum was at Belong Macclesfield for 8 years. During that time, her Alzheimers progressed from moderate to advanced, eventually dying of it. In spite of that, she had 8 fabulous years at Belong. She could not have been anywhere better or happier. The environment was lovely, the staff cared for her like she was their own mother. She had company, friends, fun and laughter all the time. Even during her last days at the nursing care she had was first class. I cannot praise Belong enough.
Thank you so much for taking the time to post this incredibly moving feedback. It was a privilege to support your mum, and it is crucial to us that we make people's time with us as special and positive as possible. It will mean a great deal to our village teams to read your comments and I will ensure they are shared with everyone. Thanks again.

Meet the Team (6)

Formerly a Support Manager at Belong Macclesfield, Cheryl has over 27 years of experience in a range of care sector roles. Her career with Belong spans over a decade, from when she joined as registered manager of its home care service, Belong at Home, which she helped establish in 2010.
As Support Manager at Belong Macclesfield, Cheryl shared knowledge and ideas with Belong villages in Crewe and Warrington as part of the organisation’s job swap scheme to improve group-wide standards of care, including industry-leading dementia care.
Cheryl’s perspectives on driving standards of care at multiple villages make her ideally qualified to be a General Manager. Her background, including helping to found Belong’s award-winning home care service, also gives her a particular understanding of many customers’ journeys, which often involve deciding to move to a Belong village after requiring domiciliary care.

Helen is passionate about providing the best care to customers. Her career with Belong began after leaving school, nearly 20 years ago, initially with CLS Care Services before moving to Belong's flagship village in Macclesfield when it opened in 2007. Helen worked as a support worker and lead senior support worker, before progressing to the role of Support Manager at Belong Newcastle-under-Lyme in 2020. She has achieved a Level 2 and 3 in Health and Social Care and has recently completed qualifications in Leadership, Health and Social Care. More recently Helen moved back to into the role of Support Manager at Belong Macclesfield.

Nicola joined the Belong team as a Receptionist when Belong Macclesfield first opened in September 2007. She was soon appointed as an Administrator before being promoted to Senior Administrator and later to the Front of front-of-house manager role in 2010.
Nicola started her career in administration at a pharmaceutical company in Hertfordshire, before moving to Macclesfield in the summer of 1992, where she worked as a part-time carer/support worker in the community, for 14 years. She also worked as a self-employed mobile beautician (NVQ level 2 in Beauty and other holistic treatments) in her spare time.
Since working at Belong Nicola has qualified in Business/Administration NVQ Level 3, Team Leader NVQ Level 2 and more recently Advanced Level Apprenticeship Level 3 in Fine Line Management. Nicola also holds a BIIAB Level 2 Personal Licence Holder.
As part of the village management team, Nicola leads the front-of-house teams at Belong Macclesfield including, Reception and Administration, Housekeeping and Laundry, Catering, Salon and Caretaker.

Charlotte has a bachelor’s degree in Adult Nursing, with a background as a registered nurse for the NHS.
Working over two years at Macclesfield Hospital as a Transfer of Care Hub Sister within the discharge team, she brings her broad knowledge of supporting those living with dementia to this role, as well as a strong track record as a mentor.

A dedicated and caring individual, Anna initially joined the Experience Team as a Support Worker before being promoted to the Experience Coordinator role in 2023. Her objective is to promote wellbeing and quality for Belong Macclesfield’s residents, tenants and Experience Day customers through a vibrant and extensive range of events and opportunities.
She plans the village’s bi-monthly ‘What’s On’ programme, with activities reflecting the interests and wishes of our customers. Her role also encompasses building links with stakeholders in the community, including local schools and businesses, churches, music groups and a range of entertainers. This ensures that residents continue to have opportunities to meet new people and enjoy new experiences.

Karen has worked in the care sector for 29 years starting as a Support Worker in a dementia unit. After 2 years Karen took up a position as a Community Support Worker for Social Services, working with vulnerable adults in the community. In 2009 she worked as a Senior for the Reablement team within Social Services assisting vulnerable adults to aim towards independence sourcing care and support when required.
After 21 years with Social Services, Karen joined Belong at Home as a Community Support Worker, quickly rising to Senior, and in 2016 became the Registered Manager for Belong at Home.
