My mum was accepted into Primrose House Care Home two years ago from another care home. This was the best outcome my mum and myself could have wished for. Primrose House is an amazing Home. Every single member of staff that we had dealings with were keen, enthusiastic, kind and always willing to
help. Mum actually flourished for a long time and her condition improved. She went from sleeping most of the days in bed, to always being up and nicely washed and dressed. She was involved in activities and outings and the staff genuinely got to know mum. Mum was settled and at times I saw happiness.
Sadly mum died recently after a period of deterioration and the way she was cared for was so kind and compassionate. I am a nurse with 35 years experience and therefore feel sometimes my expectations are very high My expectations were surpassed. I would not hesitate to recommend Primrose House. My heartfelt thanks to every member of the wonderful team led by the dedicated Jazz.

Mum is well looked after and I'm always informed as to how she has been. All staff are very friendly and knowledgeable with mums capabilities and keep me informed.
In the four weeks of being here mum has always been clean and well looked after. She has been outside enjoying the sunshine and has even
been on a trip to a garden centre.
It would appear a lot of thought is put into the running of Primrose House and myself and my family are happy to see her live here with dignity and care.

Susanne, Jas, and the whole team at Primrose House have been warm, welcoming, caring and professional from the first to the last. They took excellent care of Janice, getting to know her, and treating her with the respect and dignity she deserved. The team at Primrose house made us realise that you don't
always know what excellent care looks like until you see it - it went far beyond care for her bodily needs. The team took the time to connect with Janice at her level, even reading the bible to her and helping to arrange visits from a Priest. They're observant, attentive, and made Janice's last months as comfortable and caring an experience as we could have wished for. We couldn't have asked for better care. Thank you.

Mum had a fall which is to be expected with her current condition
I was contacted straight away by the staff as was the ambulance services, care for mum was spot on and the right decision made by the home
Mum was assessed at the hospital and allowed back to Primrose house 30 hours later
While her
time at the hospital was very traumatic for us both, Primrose house care and warmth for mum was second to non
She returned to an open door and a lovely night carer who helped her out of the car, the person in charge listened to my report back as the hospital had failed to do this and I was able to see her being settled back in before I left at midnight
The next day when we visited she became emotional, again the staff all stepped in with lovely words and care and some timely pain relief to help her to settle
I was so relieved to get her back home to primrose house and to see her enjoying the daily activities again
Thankyou all

I visited Mum today and as always she was relaxed, comfortable, clean and contented. The staff in Primrose House are always attentive and cheerful, nothing is too much trouble for them and they know my Mum so well despite her being mostly incommunicative these days. Compared to the previous home she
was at where she had a number of falls and was anxious and often angry with staff, today she had a smile for everyone and seems so happy at Primrose House. They really know how to help dementia patients and I am so happy with Mum's care at the home. Thank you everyone at Primrose House for your kindness, diligence and care x

My husband was at Primrose House for almost 2 years. The staff team are incredible in their unfailing kindness to and caring of the residents. The home is light and airy and I love that it's all on one level with access to lovely gardens and not stuck on the top floor as is the case for residents with
dementia in many homes. The sitting and dining rooms are spacious, airy and well decorated. Visitors are made to feel very welcome. I can't praise the staff highly enough for the care and compassion shown, not just to my husband but to the family also in what has been a difficult time . We were kept up to date with all aspects of my husband's care and as his illness progressed, the level of care he received was outstanding.

I visited my mum today as we usually do on a Monday to take her out, when visiting it was a very nice suprise to see that one of the domestic carers had revamped my mums room with new curtains flowers and a lovely blanket on the bed, i enquired who was responsible for making the room look so beautiful,
it was a member of staff who had decorated the room to look more homely and inviting. I personally thanked her for being so thoughtful when we took mum to her room she cried with happiness and said it didn't look like her
room. All the staff are excellent and work hard to care for all the residents.
We are happy knowing that my mum is cared for by all the staff at primrose house. A big thank you to all the staff also a big thank you to that particular member of staff for making my mum feel so happy today.

My dad has been at Primrose House Care Home for just over a year and we couldn't wish for a nicer more caring place for him to stay. All the staff from the cleaners to management are the most kindest caring people I've ever met and seeing how well my dad is doing and how well he's looked after is reassuring
for all our family.

When there was a crisis and no other home would consider my father-in-law for placement, a member of staff put my mind at ease, she assessed face to face all the staff are so lovely and when we visit my father-in-law always appears settled and calm. Dementia is a cruel disease but Primrose offer us
peace of mind.

This care home has been amazing from when my relative arrived, it's great to see the entertainment, play with bats and balls, hats and melody singing, every staff member we have met should be praised for their professionalism towards the patients, so pleased with what we have seen. Value for money the
owners get a lot out of patients' money, give the staff a good bonus out of.

The home is clean, warm and has a nice atmosphere. Primrose House is excellent, the staff are all kind, caring and chat as if known them for longer than we have. Father-in-law always looked clean, comfortable and had all his personal things from home around him, staff took time to chat with him about
his life and likes which he enjoyed. They keep us up to date on his health at every event. We can never thank them enough, every single one of you.

My aunt has lived at Primrose House Care Home for over 10 years. The care she receives is always excellent. The staff are helpful, friendly and her care needs are reviewed with us every few months. She now eats a pureed diet and has one to one care. The staff are patient and kind. Although she is unable
to walk anymore my aunt is regularly moved out of bed into the lounge or dining room and it's nice to see her sitting with the other residents. Her personal care is good. The home is currently being refurnished, the lounge area is lovely and comfortable. Decorated nicely at Christmas time.

Since moving my mother from Staffordshire, we are very happy with the move. Mum looks cleaner, happier and back to her cheeky self.
We love that she is interacting now - she was withdrawn, but now she is very happy, and we are very happy with her care, the staff (exceptional, by the way), the food,
drinks etc.
Mum has said she likes being here, at her previous home she wanted to go out/get out, but now she enjoys being in care. Well done all, we are very grateful.

My Mother arrived here from another home after respite care, she was confused in pain from several falls, and unable to stand. She had virtually stopped eating. The kind, cheerful care she has experienced here has meant that she is happier, more relaxed, starting to look more alert, and trying to walk
and eat independently again. I feel confident that she is safe, happy, and well looked after. She is friends with all the staff and is always clean, well turned out, and even stimulating activities to do.

My mother-in-law lived at Primrose House for 18 months. She suffered from advanced Alzheimer's. All the care, auxiliary, and management staff treated her, and us, with care and respect. It was reassuring to know Mum was being looked after so well. As she approached the end of life, the team made her
passing comfortable and calm. They kept us informed and were so helpful. We're grateful that Mum got to spend her last 18 months at Primrose House.

Primrose House is a true home-from-home. All the staff, without exception, make living here the very best that it can be. Each individual is valued, encouraged and wlloed to be their own selves whilst given great food, facilities, safety and security. Visitors are welcomed and everyone receives more
warmth than I ever thought possible. The whole ethos wraps around residents and families alike and provides complete care.

Current Review Score: 9.9 (9.853)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.9 (9.853) out of 10 for Primrose House Care Home is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.9 out of 5 from 19 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 5.0 out of 5 from 19 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.878 for Primrose House Care Home is calculated as follows: ( (197 Excellents x 5) + (21 Goods x 4) + (3 Satisfactorys x 3) ) ÷ 221 Ratings = 4.878
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 4.975 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Primrose House Care Home is based on 19 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 20 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews, 0.05 Points for the next five Positive Reviews, and finally 0.025 Points for the next ten Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.050, 7th = 0.050, 8th = 0.050, 9th = 0.050, 10th = 0.050, 11th = 0.025, 12th = 0.025, 13th = 0.025, 14th = 0.025, 15th = 0.025, 16th = 0.025, 17th = 0.025, 18th = 0.025, 19th = 0.025, 20th = 0.025) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 = 3.975
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 42 registered maximum number of service users is 8.4, which has been reached with 19 Positive reviews. Points = 1
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.

Job Title: Home Manager

Introducing Dawn Sadler
Home Manager at Primrose House, Haslington

What does ‘kindness’ mean to you?

“Kind care is shown through every Colleague and visitor within Primrose House showing kindness in every aspect of care provided whether it be through actions, or talking. All our Residents are our main priority and a ‘Happy Resident’ means a ‘Happy Home’.”

As a dedicated registered nurse, Dawn has gained a wealth of experience in providing care and nursing support to elderly people, to enrich their lives. Her main responsibilities are to ensure that all of the Residents are made to feel safe, secure, at home in their surroundings, and happy and to make each day a positive experience for each and every one of them.

Dawn closely shares HC-One’s vision in aiming to provide the kindest care for each and every Resident. She extends this caring approach to her Colleagues and works closely with them to deliver care and support to Residents in a way that they gain the most benefit, in a warm and welcoming home.

She also works hard to arrange events and activities with nearby schools and clubs and is always keen to include the local community in life at Primrose House care home. Dawn regularly helps to hand out food parcels to the elderly and vulnerable people in the community.

When asked what she enjoys most about her role, Dawn remarked:

“Hearing the laughter throughout the home from both Colleagues and Residents”

Outside of work, Dawn is a semi-professional photographer and also enjoys making cakes for celebrations. She also has two wonderful children; a daughter and a son.

If you would like to find out more information about Primrose House, Dawn has an ‘Open Door Policy’ and would be pleased to welcome you for an informal discussion.
