At Primrose House care home, situated within the village of Haslington in Crewe, the caring and professional team support older people to lead their best lives with personalised dementia care.

Purpose-built and carefully designed, residents at Primrose House benefit from a choice of lounges to relax or socialise with friends, each featuring comfortable and specially designed furnishings. The home has a range of comfortable and well-equipped bedrooms; with some offering views across the garden as well as three sitting rooms and a dining area, with views out onto the garden. The enclosed garden and pretty patio, cared for by some of the residents, is a popular place to sit and relax in the company of friends and relatives. All bright and comfortable bedrooms and living areas are easily accessible, ensuring inclusivity for all residents.

Committed to delivering personalised and empowering care, the care team at Primrose House dedicate time to learn about each person they support, allowing them to not only cover their care needs but also ensure there are opportunities for them to get involved with life at the home. And the catering team take the same approach, designing and delivering varied menus to suit individual taste and requirement, full of nutritional and enjoyable meals to be enjoyed each day, whether dining with fellow residents or welcoming friends and family for a visit.

Primrose House is a focal point of the Haslington community, and residents are encouraged to socialise and enjoy their local area as much as possible, helping them to feel more at home.

Excellent care and communication with family members. The home gives you the feeling that your loved one will be well looked after and delivers on all fronts. The family would like to thank all the staff for all their hard work looking after dad.

I was heartbroken when my husband had to go into care, but since he has been in Primrose, he has settled in very well and the staff have been excellent with him. I now have no worries about his health and his safety because the staff on all shifts are so caring. Thank you for giving me peace of mind.

Very happy with the overall care my mother is receiving. Staff are very helpful and listen to any concerns I may have. I've seen great improvements to the home the last few years. Overall appearance is good lots of different features and seating areas as you walk along the corridors.

My mother enjoyed her time at Primrose House. Staff were very friendly and I found no fault with the level of care the staff showed. Members of the team were present at my mother's funeral which was a very kind gesture.

My mum became a resident of Primrose House in December 2016.
I visit her at least twice a week at different times and days and she is always clean and tidy. I have always found the staff to be very caring and friendly. The bedrooms are all very light and airy and there is plenty of room for residents
to wander in safety, which is important for my mum because she likes to walk around regularly.

First impressions; staff are very pleasant. Facilities are good. Rooms are excellent. Management is very approachable. Nurses are very 'on the ball'.


After Dad's stroke and ultimate stay in hospital, he transferred to Primrose House. It was apparent that this was the wrong facility for his needs

and staff soon raised these concerns, for which I am very grateful. They helped to get him into a proper sleep routine, which had been disrupted by his stroke and arranged a case review to get him re-homed.

My Mum was at Primrose House for five years.
Over that time there has been improvements and updating to the premises to a high standard.
Each room has its own toilet and sink and a lovely outdoor view.
Also most important for an EMI home is security.
I had no worries of my Mum being able to leave.
Also,
there are three day rooms, one of the most important things.
Management sets a good compassionate lead which helps for teamwork.
A lot of the carers have worked together for many years, this meant they got to know my Mum well on her long journey with Alzheimer's.
I nominate all the nursing staff and carers for The Carers of the Month of March.
They all showed such TLC toward my Mum especially in the final week of her life.
They showed dignity, care, compassion and love.
This was expressed to me while I kept a vigil over my Mum, thereby making it more bearable at that very sad time.
A month has now passed, one thing that really touched my heart was they saw to Mum's belongings and packed them, so when I came to get them all I had to do was put them in the car, such a relief.
Thank you to all staff at Primrose House you are not forgotten.

Every time I visit my friend I am fascinated with the many activities in place for the residents. The staff's personalities really make the experience for the service users special. Nothing is too much to ask and the nurses and carers especially ensure that the residents are okay. I am satisfied that
my friend is well looked after as she tells me continuously of how she likes it here. If any of my family need care in their lives here would be the first place I would send them without a doubt. Terrific.

I visited Primrose House over Christmas. There was a lovely welcoming atmosphere. All the staff were engaging with the resident sand the positive rapport was clean to see. Lovely home. I would be happy for my family to be placed there.

My dad spent a year in Primrose House. It was clean and tidy but occasionally I had to ask for his bedroom floor to be mopped (he couldn't remember to use the loo). The staff were always obliging, always kind to dad and kept him clean, tidy and fed. He was taken on a couple of short outings, I accompanied
him, There were relatives meetings - a time to share with each other and the staff were supportive to relatives. Although activities were provided, staff had little time to support individuals with 1:1 assistance. In the ideal world, a few more staff members are needed, they all tried hard.

What does ‘kindness’ mean to you?


“Kind care is shown through every Colleague and visitor within Primrose House showing kindness in every aspect of care provided whether it be through actions, or talking. All our Residents are our main priority and a ‘Happy Resident’ means a ‘Happy Home’.”


As a dedicated registered nurse, Dawn has gained a wealth of experience in providing care and nursing support to elderly people, to enrich their lives. Her main responsibilities are to ensure that all of the Residents are made to feel safe, secure, at home in their surroundings, and happy and to make each day a positive experience for each and every one of them.


Dawn closely shares HC-One’s vision in aiming to provide the kindest care for each and every Resident. She extends this caring approach to her Colleagues and works closely with them to deliver care and support to Residents in a way that they gain the most benefit, in a warm and welcoming home.


She also works hard to arrange events and activities with nearby schools and clubs and is always keen to include the local community in life at Primrose House care home. Dawn regularly helps to hand out food parcels to the elderly and vulnerable people in the community.


When asked what she enjoys most about her role, Dawn remarked:


“Hearing the laughter throughout the home from both Colleagues and Residents”


Outside of work, Dawn is a semi-professional photographer and also enjoys making cakes for celebrations. She also has two wonderful children; a daughter and a son.
