I have been here since June 2020 for rehabilitation. I find the staff very efficient and understanding. Having been here for 2 months, I've never heard a cross word. The humour of the staff is a great boost to the residents' morale. It would help if there was more choice of food.

Wow, what a fantastic team they are at Weston Park, Macclesfield. So utterly caring, compassionate and understanding to my sister's needs. You are all amazing people doing an amazing job taking care of my sister's needs. Kindness, patience and understanding you have in abundance. From the bottom of my heart, thank you. And to two members of staff in particular - you are stars.

The team on the intermediate care unit have done an amazing job looking after my Mum for the last few months, they have been so kind and caring and I can’t thank them enough! After lots of great physio and support Mum is coming home today. All the staff have been wonderful but an extra special thank you to one staff member in particular for going the extra mile!

My wife has been a resident at this home for four years and I am quite happy with the care and attention which she receives. She feels safe and secure in there. Her medical needs are seen to by both in-house nursing staff as well as visiting doctors. All the staff, management and nursing, are thoughtful people, very approachable and willing to listen and help. I am always well informed of my wife's care and any treatment she needs is discussed with me. Her room is light and airy and has private facilities. The home has dining rooms as well as separate lounges for entertainment. During the present Covid-19 situation the manageress provided a speaker system so that it is possible to talk to my wife through a closed window meaning that we can see and communicate together during this difficult time. It is a measure of the care which the home provides. On no occasion have I felt let down by the home and wished to move my wife elsewhere. I am quite prepared to recommend Weston Park.

I am writing this review from a patients perspective as I am presently residing on the Waterside unit as an intermediate care resident who is coming to the end of my stay.
I struggled at first because of the pain and being able to get past that but the staff here have encouraged and sometimes pushed me (when I needed it) to get to my goal. Having an onsite physiotherapist team and occupational therapist has made the world of difference to my recovery. As I was medically fit but not physically the physio team worked on my mobility and the care staff worked on every other aspect of my care and they have been wonderful, cheering me up when I felt despondent and providing me with a great experience overall. The whole team are genuinely pleased with my progress and it has made me work even harder in case I disappointed them.

I do have one issue which is the level of agency staff that is used because it puts a strain on the permanent staff if they haven't worked on the unit before. Thanks.

My very independent Nan had a bad fall in June and was taken to the hospital. It was a horrendous time for us all as a family, especially with the Covid-19 and no communication. On the 2nd of July Nan was moved to Weston Park to the immediate care unit where I can honestly say they have been absolutely wonderful. Nan has settled in really well. She speaks highly of all the staff and the care she is receiving. Physiotherapists and Occupational therapists are also wonderful. They always have time to speak to me and explain what is happening. I know they have sat with Nan a few times to reassure her and I am truly grateful for that. Its been very hard not being able to visit Nan, but the staff have gone out of their way for us to visit in the garden so we can speak to her from her room and lots of phone and video calls. I really can not thank the team enough, especially two members of staff that go above and beyond to look after Nan and us as a family.

My Mum received intermediate care at the Waterside unit for 2 weeks after a long period of time in hospital. Mum received amazing care there and with the staff's help and support they improved her mobility and confidence so that she could return home. In particular, the physiotherapist and occupational therapy support was brilliant and also included a home visit to check Mum's surroundings and equipment. They also accompanied Mum when she returned home to check she was safely mobilising and transferring. I can't thank the staff enough as despite the COVID-19 situation they provided my Mum with the much-needed support, helped us as a family to keep in touch with her and kept us up to date with the plans for getting Mum home. It was Mum's birthday while she was in the unit and although it was hard for us not to spend it with her, the staff made sure it was special with a lovely cake and balloons, and a video call with our family. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend this unit to anyone.

The standard of care at Weston Park care home is very good indeed. Everyone concerned helped to put Mum at ease in those first days in what was a strange and bewildering time for her and an anxious time for her family. Each member of staff from all the different departments has contributed to making each day a good day for Mum and indeed for family and friends who are visiting, by their hard work, kindness shown, cheerfulness, patience and respect. Nothing is too much trouble and they always accommodate any needs that come along unexpectedly and welcome any ideas we have as a family to help Mum. The activities are well thought out and enrich the day. Mum's need for privacy and space is always honoured, helped by a lovely room and gardens to spend time in. Trips out with the family are always encouraged and made easy and always with a warm welcome on our return along with a good cup of tea.

Used to be a very nice team at Weston Park a few months ago, lead by a guy from another country, he built a nice team there, everything was running smoothly until a manager tried to get rid of him, I wish to have him back and his team. Now is nobody looking after like it was before, no attention to the residents, my mom is seeking for attention all the time but nobody pays anything, she is losing weight and nobody is taking any notice.

My friend is being cared for at Weston Park and I feel the attitude of several carers are substandard. They always seem too busy to give a moment to speak to residents. Also, his jumper was put on back to front, therefore, he was unable to reach into shirt pocket. Things do go missing from his room (nothing valuable).

My brother in law was a resident at Weston Park for 20 months and I visited him almost daily.
His nursing care during that time has been very good, right through from his arrival from hospital up to receiving palliative care for the last 3 weeks of his life.
The caring was sketchy during the first half of his residence with poor management.
New management has been in place for the last year and there have been substantial improvements.

The home deserves a higher rating.

If there is a medal which can be given to such a truly magnificent team. Weston Park Care Home will be nominated for the highest achievement for such a wonderful, caring, devoted team which go beyond there abilities to keep my Dad and Papa comfortable in his last days.
My daughter and I cannot thank you enough for the care and support which we received throughout our 10 days.
Three members of staff on the Weaver ward who stayed with me to the very end of Dads life.
You three are truly magnificent.
All our love forever.

Friends forever.

My Mother has been at Weston Park since January 2009 and during that time Weston Park has seen many changes, some good, some not so good. However, I have always been extremely impressed with the level of care and love that Mum has received. Yes, socks go missing, yes, she is sometimes in the wrong clothes but the main thing for me is that she is beautifully cared for and I can have a wonderful time in the lounge visiting her. My thanks go to the staff and all the carers, you are doing a great job!

My wife had Alzheimer's disease and was only a resident at Weston Park for 6 weeks before she died. During the time that she lived at Weston Park, she received excellent care. The staff treated her with dignity and respect and always went the extra mile to ensure that she was comfortable, well fed and safe. The staff also took excellent care of the family who visited every day. Staff demonstrated excellent values, I cannot thank them enough for the care they took of my wife.

We are extremely disappointed with the care our relative is receiving.

He is in the wrong unit in the home - he is in the dementia section and clearly, does not have dementia. We have mentioned this several times to staff and nothing appears to have been done.

My uncle reports that other residents enter his room unchecked during the night, and I have witnessed this myself during an evening visit. A man wandered into the room (my relative is bed bound so unable to move) and no member of staff was aware.

Staff don't seem to care about the patients and some of the staff don't appear to have a good understanding of English - evident when I have asked for things.

We have asked for physio to get my uncle moving again and nothing appears to have been done.

This gentleman was originally in a nursing placement, but disturbed behaviours required input from mental health nurses. This is constantly under review by the GP, the home and by other professionals involved in his care. Residents have freedom of movement within the unit and CCTV is in operation...

I have been dismayed and appalled at the management of this so called care facility.
My biggest concerns have been,
-Lack of liaison between residents, family and medical staff.
-Poor hygiene for residents, only one bath/shower a week.
-Rarely able to contact anyone at the home, by phone or in person.
-Very few meal choices offered.

-Insufficient staff to attend resident calls, particularly in an emergency.

Reply from D Hardacre, Home Manager at Weston Park Care Home

The home has recently changed ownership and is undergoing changes in leadership of the unit where this person is residing. Residents are offered baths/showers on a daily basis but it is their choice if they wish to refrain. The person this refers to has full capacity and is able to request and...
