Each time we visit we have always been most welcome. The care Mum has has always been very good in my opinion. She is very well-liked and good care is taken.

Everyone is lovely and my auntie is always happy and clean. My aunt would love to go home when carers can be sorted for her to do so.

Reply from Trish McCaffrey, Support Manager at Weston Park Care Home

Thank you for letting us know how you think we are doing in the care of your aunt. We know that your aunt wishes for nothing more than to return to her own home and we will do all we can to support this when a suitable package of care is agreed upon.

My mother came home today after spending 8 days respite at Waterside after being discharged from hospital. She was in isolation so obviously, we couldn’t visit, but she was full of praise for the care home and the care that she received while she was there. Thank you so much.

Reply from Kate Barnes, Manager at Weston Park Care Home

Thank you kindly for your feedback. We appreciate it must of been challenging during her isolation but we hope that she is now doing well now that she is back at home.

My mother was here for respite at Waterside. She was very well looked after and staff did FaceTime with me, whenever she felt upset, for reassurance. There is one member of staff I would like to say a special thank you to for the video calls. She knows who she is and is a real gem. I would like to thank all staff, especially the care staff. Thank you for everything.

I was at Weston Park - (Waterside unit) after fracturing a bone in my neck in a rehabilitation unit. Excellent. Nothing was too much trouble for the care staff and the team leaders were wonderful. It was like a five-star hotel.

My mother needed care following a bad fall, which she broke her neck. It was a difficult time for her due to COVID, as she had to isolate in her room for 2-weeks and needed someone with her 24-hours as she kept trying to take her neck brace off. She likes to be outside, so found being confined a difficult experience. The staff at Weston were very patient with her, and once she had finished the isolation period did try and get her outside for short walks in the garden. They were very easy to stay in touch with and answered my and my sister's questions about my mother's care. They are clearly very busy but found time to talk to my mother and to try and engage her in the life of the care home. My mother seemed to like the food most of the time. She complained about her mattress, and this was changed at some point. The staff were always friendly and helpful when I dropped things off for my mother. As far as I am concerned, the home provided a good service for my mother.

My 86 year old mother was sent to Weston Park for Intermediate Care. I rang up every day to ask about her and was even able to speak to her on the phone. This was only possible as the care staff were very pleasant and helpful.

I was sent to this nursing home's rehab dept after having a knee replacement which I had on 2nd September. The home is very dirty. I was there for six days and nobody came into my room to clean the whole time I was there. (Not even the toilet). Most of the food was cold. I was given a cold baked potato. It was a frozen one that hadn't been cooked through.

Like most things, there can be good times and bad times according to unforeseen circumstances. I have known very great kindnesses at birthdays (twin sister invited to afternoon tea). Lockdown has not helped the residents nor the staff but the staff do not show it.

I am not that keen on having agency staff. I know it's impossible to do without, but they seem to be not so caring as a regular who's there all the time and able to answer questions for their doings. I feel it is of great importance to the care home and it was rather nice when lockdown was on and we didn't have outsiders in.

Prior to the lockdown, it was our 45th wedding anniversary. The assistance, support and encouragement received from the management, carers and catering staff were very much appreciated. A small party of relatives and close friends was held in the 'quiet room' which was very nicely decorated. Obviously, since lockdown, we have not been allowed to visit relatives in the home. But, all that matters, is the safety of the residents and care staff. It has been difficult trying to hold a conversation with my wife through the glass window and the fact that she does not understand the present situation. She is not one who joins in activities and soon gets frustrated if anything or anyone slightly upsets her routine. Overall, I am more than satisfied and happy with the care given to my wife.

I have been here since June 2020 for rehabilitation. I find the staff very efficient and understanding. Having been here for 2 months, I've never heard a cross word. The humour of the staff is a great boost to the residents' morale. It would help if there was more choice of food.

The team on the intermediate care unit have done an amazing job looking after my Mum for the last few months, they have been so kind and caring and I can’t thank them enough! After lots of great physio and support Mum is coming home today. All the staff have been wonderful but an extra special thank you to one staff member in particular for going the extra mile!

My wife has been a resident at this home for four years and I am quite happy with the care and attention which she receives. She feels safe and secure in there. Her medical needs are seen to by both in-house nursing staff as well as visiting doctors. All the staff, management and nursing, are thoughtful people, very approachable and willing to listen and help. I am always well informed of my wife's care and any treatment she needs is discussed with me. Her room is light and airy and has private facilities. The home has dining rooms as well as separate lounges for entertainment. During the present Covid-19 situation the manageress provided a speaker system so that it is possible to talk to my wife through a closed window meaning that we can see and communicate together during this difficult time. It is a measure of the care which the home provides. On no occasion have I felt let down by the home and wished to move my wife elsewhere. I am quite prepared to recommend Weston Park.

I am writing this review from a patients perspective as I am presently residing on the Waterside unit as an intermediate care resident who is coming to the end of my stay.
I struggled at first because of the pain and being able to get past that but the staff here have encouraged and sometimes pushed me (when I needed it) to get to my goal. Having an onsite physiotherapist team and occupational therapist has made the world of difference to my recovery. As I was medically fit but not physically the physio team worked on my mobility and the care staff worked on every other aspect of my care and they have been wonderful, cheering me up when I felt despondent and providing me with a great experience overall. The whole team are genuinely pleased with my progress and it has made me work even harder in case I disappointed them.

I do have one issue which is the level of agency staff that is used because it puts a strain on the permanent staff if they haven't worked on the unit before. Thanks.

My very independent Nan had a bad fall in June and was taken to the hospital. It was a horrendous time for us all as a family, especially with the Covid-19 and no communication. On the 2nd of July Nan was moved to Weston Park to the immediate care unit where I can honestly say they have been absolutely wonderful. Nan has settled in really well. She speaks highly of all the staff and the care she is receiving. Physiotherapists and Occupational therapists are also wonderful. They always have time to speak to me and explain what is happening. I know they have sat with Nan a few times to reassure her and I am truly grateful for that. Its been very hard not being able to visit Nan, but the staff have gone out of their way for us to visit in the garden so we can speak to her from her room and lots of phone and video calls. I really can not thank the team enough, especially two members of staff that go above and beyond to look after Nan and us as a family.
