It seems clean, tidy, helpful staff. Bit smelly sometimes. It's Ok.

My mother has been a resident for just over a year now, and like others, initially, I was concerned not over the care home but the fact that I had to be a part of the decision to place mum in full time nursing care. These concerns were very quickly lessened.
The staff are both professional and caring, taking time to learn both my mums and our stories.
Yes, sometimes things get missed and occasionally clothing is misplaced but for the size of the unit, the staffing levels and varied needs of residents I find these issues minimal. When issues have been highlighted the staff are very responsive, solution lead and appropriate in approach.
I can honestly say the burden of guilt hasn't gone but I feel relief knowing my mum is settled, appears happy and is thriving.

The hospitality team have worked wonders in supporting my mum to gain weight and enjoy food again, the diet I find is varied and there are always well balanced snacks and drinks available for the residents.

When our very dear friend and former professional colleague became a resident at Dove Court we had our initial concerns. (Based on previous experience of care home visits).

However, we were quickly reassured by the atmosphere at Dove Court. The staff are friendly and helpful. Our friend is treated with respect and his dignity is not compromised. He seems to be happy, well treated, settled and well fed.

We are very pleased with Dove Court. Would like to see more variation with meals. Seem to have a lot of chips, and cheese on toast. Have had one or two experiences where our mother has not taken her tablets and hidden them in her bag. Not sure whether she has put them in her mouth, then taken them out when staff have thought she has taken them. Would like a little bit more care with laundry. Keep getting somebody else's clothes.

Have not answered question about activities as I wouldn't say it was poor but believe there should be more stimulation for residents. As far as value for money, find £1,200 a week rather a lot but not everybody is paying that.

Staff have been wonderful, kind, supportive, helpful and caring. The comment also applies to the agency staff as well.
Communication is good and staff have always listened and responded to requests and issues I have raised during the past year.
All staff never fail to welcome me on arrival with a smile which puts me at ease immediately.

Always a difficult subject due to cost constraints but Dove Court Care Home could do with a coat of paint in main rooms.

The quality of care does differ from one staff member to another. On the whole mum's care does seem to be ok but there doesn't seem to be much interaction between residents and staff. I think this could be down to staffing levels. On my latest visit, I noticed mum was down for curry for her tea but I mentioned that she probably wouldn't eat it and was told that she would be offered an alternative if she didn't want it, but I wonder how much time is given to residents to decide what they would like.

Mum's clothing is all marked but on more than one occasion I have found clothes that were obviously not hers in her room or she was even wearing them. This can only be down to the laundry staff not taking proper notice when returning items to residents.

This home has given good service to all who need care. My late husband was here and nothing was too good for the staff who cared for him in the three years he spent here. My friend does not have any other family except people from my church. But she loves her room and the staff.

My mum has been a resident in "Swallow House" Dove Court Care Home for 7 months now. She is very well cared for by the hard working staff there. I would like to say a big thank you to all for keeping my mum warm, safe and healthy. She looks so happy and settled now. The staff are polite and very friendly. With high marks from CQC I would never hesitate to recommend Dove Court Care Home to relatives of persons affected by Alzheimer's/Dementia.
