Overall Experience

My wife was transferred to Springhill Care Home 18 months ago with an anticipated life expectancy of 3 to 4 months. With the dedication of the staff, she moved from being fed through a tube and being bedfast to eating normal meals in the restaurant and sitting in a wheelchair.

The nursing and ancillary staff were most caring. Everyone made a point of speaking and being very friendly. The activities staff provided various entertainments to keep the residents occupied.

The home is run as a 5-star hotel.

Springhill is not the cheapest of care homes, but the care is excellent for both patients and relatives.
Any minor niggles are always dealt with immediately.

The best testament for me was when I took Dad for a hospital visit. We arrived back and he said 'Oh it's good to be home'. That meant a lot to me.

My mum first went to Springhill needing both nursing care and dementia care. She lived there for just short of 5 years. Over those years, she was treated with care, dignity, professionalism, warmth and lots of hugs by some wonderful people. Every resident is different. They are all afforded as much independence as their condition will allow. Mum walked using a frame until this became too much effort. As mum's abilities declined, they introduced new equipment (e.g. special armchair) to keep her comfortable and safe at all times. When she could no longer remember to signal for assistance if she wanted to go to the bathroom during the night, they didn't barrier her in bed. Instead, they simply put a pressure mat down; so she automatically alerted staff as soon as a foot touched the floor. She had her hair and nails done every week and very much appreciated it too! In the earlier days, she did painting, cake decorating and other activities. She was treated like a person always.

Springhill Care Home is excellent. The staff work hard and are very friendly and helpful. They make what a very stressful time more easy to cope with. The staff are what makes the care home "great".

Everyone including the kitchen staff is absolutely fantastic and offer a very high level of care.

Springhill has an excellent reputation and I think that is mainly due to the staff, I can't praise them enough from reception, nurses, care staff, kitchen staff and cleaners. They all do a brilliant job and are very helpful. I only gave the facilities satisfactory because I think the ensuite bathrooms could do with an upgrade.

My Mother moved to Springhill in May 2013 and to be perfectly honest this was the best decision we as a family have ever made on behalf of my Mum.

The care and support was second to none on every level of the staff members, from the devoted carers, nursing staff and to the management. I know my Mum was very happy here from the day she moved in to the day she sadly passed away on the 19th May 2018. She always had a lovely smile for anybody who came into contact with her. I was always made to feel welcome and felt like it was my extended family.

My mother has been a resident here for the past four years. She is in the dementia unit but has not got severe symptoms. Her conditions of diabetes, poor mobility, leg ulcers, involves outside input from different NHS teams. This is all coordinated as soon as they are needed.
The staff, from carers, nurses, ancillary, maintenance, receptionists, office staff and management are fantastic, approachable, professional and treat my mum and myself with respect, dignity and care.
My mum and I have special relationships with certain members of staff and they genuinely love my mum and keep me informed on her mental status and condition.
The banter and contact with carers is the most important thing to my mum and they ensure this is present all the time.
Continuity of carers is kept the same, team leaders lead the teams professionally and with an understanding of the pressures they are under in a challenging, very busy unit. They themselves are supported by the nurse who is an amazing clinical lead, who makes herself available at any time for residents, carers and families.

I work in a care home myself and this home, Springhill, is the best.

Springhill care home has been a wonderful place for our mum. Having suffered a major stroke, leaving her with limited capacity, they have anticipated her care needs and looked after her like she was one of the family. I cannot thank the staff enough for the care, attention and compassion they show and how they have shown dignity and respect to her and her family. It is a wonderful place with laughter and a 'family' atmosphere. Well done Springhill.

Mum was transferred to Springhill after an awful experience at a previous care home. The staff have treated Mum with care, respect and compassion. Nothing has been too much trouble for them. Relatives have constantly been informed of Mum's illness and medications and it has been a pleasure to visit this care home.

Springhill is a happy place for the residents and there is always laughter and a buzz of activities going on when we have visited. I cannot recommend this care home enough. Excellent!

My mother was admitted following a serious car accident which left her with severe brain damage and partially paralysed. She was also unable to speak. I found the way she was treated was absolutely brilliant - always kept clean and respectful of her needs. The staff were always friendly and respectful and the most important thing of all - they cared and showed they cared.

My father passed away on 7th January '18 after a short illness (6 wks). Via the NHS, Dad was offered a place from a choice of care homes as per availability. Fortunately, for us as a family, we choose Springhill. The care and support we received from the management and carers to the laundry, catering and cleaning staff was a credit to the company. It has totally changed my opinion on the bad press that care homes receive. There are excellent homes out there and this is one!

My dad was moved from hospital to Springhill Care Home on 13th December but passed away on 7th January 2018.

The professionalism and care received by my dad and us (3 of us) as his family, especially in Dad's last week when we 'moved in', was beyond exceptional.

Your staff made the worst time in our lives easier (if it ever can be). Praise needs to go to all staff involved.

Unfortunately, my father came in with only a short time to live while receiving palliative care. From the first day father was made to feel welcome and cared for, also my sisters and I were made to feel welcome.
The nurses, carers and all the other staff were really helpful (no job too small) and they cared.
Altogether while we were there they made us feel like a part of a family.

They made my father's last week happy and cared for.

My father was a resident at Springhill Care Home for 2 years and 10 days.

The 1st year dad spent on Milnshaw and the 2nd year on Springwood. I have to commend all the staff for treating my father with extreme care and dignity. His room was always spotlessly clean and warm. I can highly recommend Springhill Care Home. My father dies in November 2017, surrounded by family the nurse on duty and 2 carers. Dad was never left alone which was one of his wishes.

Having visited around six care homes in the Accrington area, it was eventually decided that Springhill Care Home seemed the best option for my mother.

With hindsight, I am now totally convinced that this was the right decision. On all criteria - the quality of the accommodation, facilities and activities; the friendliness and professionalism of all the staff from the front desk to the "front line" staff who we met; and the prevailing caring and happy atmosphere - it is difficult to imagine how these could be improved upon. Above all, in the last days and hours of my mother's life, all the nursing and carer staff who were closely involved with her showed great compassion that was very reassuring.

My mother was in Springhill from January 2015 until April 2017. She had very complex care needs but was always cared for very well. The reception area was always staffed by very welcoming, friendly and helpful staff. The Housekeeping Team not only kept her room clean and tidy but cared for her many flowers and plants. The Kitchen staff were lovely and kind to all of us. They got to know her likes and dislikes and tried to provide her with food that she would like. She was in for quite a time and got to know most of the staff there. She was cared for with kindness and dignity and there are many staff there that we will never forget because they looked after her so very well and who went the "extra mile" to care for her. many many Thanks to everyone.

We couldn't have asked for a better home for mum. The staff were all totally sincere in caring, nursing, compassion and provision of dignity. Her final days were made to be calm and peaceful. The hygiene was excellent as was the ambience of the whole home. We as relatives were supported through the whole process with sympathy and kindness. Also, the security was particularly efficient.
