Over all time Barchester Westvale House Care Home has 92 reviews.
My wife has been a resident for 8 months and I have no complaints about Barchester Westvale House Care Home.
His room was adequate but could have been cleaner. However, overall, the staff were really good and kind to dad and gave him the best care they could.
The care received was very good and carers were all respectful and caring towards her.
I have only praise and thanks for the team that took care of my dear mum.
I would highly recommend to anyone.
The only comment I can make is that there was never enough staff. The staff there worked so hard to look after the residents and the main nurse on the upstairs floor was excellent at her job, nothing was too much trouble.
They do not do enough activities for the bed-bound patients that are aware of being bored.
Patients are left too long to be changed etc i.e Staff shortages.
My sister is happy here but does get depressed with the lack of activities etc.
You need to employ people just for activities.
Thank you for your review, I am sorry to hear your experience of Westvale is not as we would have wanted. Westvale continuously reviews its staffing in relation to dependency of our residents, currently Westvale is one of the highest staffed homes in the area. We have had a gap in our activities,...
I feel happy and secure here. The staff are friendly and make me feel at home.
My mum passed away in august this year at Westvale House. She and all my family cannot thank the staff enough. She died with dignity and peacefully. The care she received was amazing, the staff all care. Always smiling staff, helpful in any way they could.
Nice, clean friendly home but it is understaffed, not enough carers. Do not get me washed and dressed before 11.30 because there are not enough carers. My activities get cancelled, very little activities on offer. No outings on offer. Would be a marvellous care home if more caregiving and activities people.
My care during this period has been very good. During October my son was away on holiday and the staff have ensured that I have not gone without any of the things he would do for me.
The whole atmosphere of the place is warm and inviting, the staff are very friendly. I find it difficult to nominate 1 person for 'employee of the month' as the ones who I meet via my mum are all brilliant.
I have 5 brothers and lots of nieces who visit mum regularly and they would all agree with my comments.
If I have any concerns/ queries I can always go to the office to speak to someone. They always have time to put my mind at ease. The carers I have seen always make a point of smiling, speaking and sometimes 'playing' with the less able residents.
We recently had a party at Westvale to celebrate mums 86th birthday. The chef made a tasty buffet and the activities worker arranged for entertainment and balloons etc.
I would highly recommend Westvale !!
Westvale cared for my aunt for six years. Care was excellent and very high standards in all aspects. Delighted with how happy she was there. It gave me great peace of mind.
I would like to say thank you to the care staff at Westvale for supporting our family and helping us through the recent loss of our father, they were very kind and although our fathers stay was short we think this was a very relaxed and pleasant home. In these situations there is never a perfect place but we all appreciated Westvale at our time of need. We would recommend this care home.

Hi, my name is Lesley and I'm Head Chef here at Westvale House.
I started working here in 2023, and absolutely love my job. My passion is cooking and baking, and trying new ideas, so I love that I get to explore and create new menus. Outside of work, I love to walk my Boxer dog Cooper. I also like to read, going to darts and rugby tournaments, and visiting my children and grandchildren who live over in Ireland.
Hi, I'm Clement, and I'm a Nurse here at Westvale House. I started here as a Care Home Assistant Practitioner in September 2022, and have since qualified and worked my way up to Nurse.

As a team, we ensure we maintain a professional, relaxed and friendly environment, and we work hard to promote a homely atmosphere. I love working at Westvale House.
