Barchester Westvale House Care Home

The home is spotlessly clean and kept to a very high standard.

Very welcoming atmosphere, staff seem happy to be working there and always have a smile on their faces.

It's difficult to entrust a loved one in the hands of others, but I can see that she is so well looked after 24/7 that she is in the best place for her to get the care she needs.

My mother recently passed away at Westvale House and I cannot fault the compassionate and effective care she received in her last 2 weeks. Before that, as a resident, she had a whole new lease of life by going into the care home. From living a lonely life as a widow in her own home she has nice meals, people (staff and residents) to talk to every day and some really good activities like pet and animal visits and games and musical events. When I have put only 'good' below it is because I see very slight scope for improvement. 1) Maybe better supervision and communication between the carers. 2) My mum's room could have had shelves and better bathroom storage. 3) And her induction was a bit uncoordinated (April 2025).

Mum loves it here! She always says she wants for nothing and she loves the staff. Personally I find the staff very friendly and approachable. The home is clean and tidy, with excellent facilities. It is always a hive of activity with things going on for residents all week. I feel the home is well run and it is never a chore to visit. Mum is very happy and feels at home here. 10/10 from me.

The speed and professionalism in which my mother was admitted to Westvale was impeccable. Your manager ensured that the process was explained clearly so all concerned were fully aware of the next steps. She went above and beyond to ensure a swift assessment of my mother and that the accommodation was ready for my mother to move from another care home at very short notice - at a time of great stress, she was amazing, calm & reassuring. The person I visit has been in your care for 12 months. I visit at different times so have come across lots of staff. All have a smile and a hello. I would particularly like to thank Denise and Jane - they are the front face and are so patient. But, it is obvious that there is a real effort from all the staff of Westvale to look out for and care for the Residents. Thank you.

My mum has been a resident for 2 years. She enjoys all the activities when she is able to. She has been very happy at Westvale. She has had excellent care and has made great friends with the residents and staff, who have now become part of our family.

My mum Elaine has bin here only 3 weeks but what we have seen as a family everyone has bin amazing with her very friendly indeed, staff amazing in everythink they do , so as family we are soooo happy for mum plus mum loves it that's main thing , so thanks to everyone that cares for my wonderful mum xx

My mother spent 3 weeks in respite care at Westvale. The staff were very caring, befriended her and supported her and us through a difficult time. I recommed Westvale without hesitation.

Mum has been at Westvale fo a few months now and I have been so happy with the care she is receiving - she is happier than she has been in a long time, she has also gained a little weight and with it she has gotten stonger - she is positively thriving. The team at Westvale have helped made her room very homely - nothing is ever to much trouble - the poor handyman has been put through his paces putting things of on the walls, then moving them, adding stuff etc and they are - like all the staff, only to happy to help. Westvale is a wonderful, caring, thriving environment & I am happy mum is here.
