Westvale House is situated within the Sankey Valley Park area of Warrington in Cheshire. It is a purpose-built care home for older people that require residential and general nursing care. In addition they provide end of life/ palliative care and care for young people with physical disabilities. The home is set in beautifully landscaped gardens with outdoor seating and easy access from all downstairs lounges.

A team of highly qualified and attentive staff really focus on the individual needs of residents with a tailored care plan for each person. And their dedication can be seen across the board - in cooking, hospitality and organising activities.

The team are also very keen to promote a home from home atmosphere recognising that this is the residents' home and they want them to feel relaxed and comfortable and safe. They offer a wide range of activities, have regular entertainment and really encourage families to get involved. They recently had a group of relatives help in the garden as well as attending a relative focus group.

During Dad's relatively short time here, he was treated with the utmost care and respect by everyone at Westvale House.
His room was comfortable with a lovely view into the garden, and although Dad rarely ventured into the lounge area, when he did, he really enjoyed what was going on.
Generally,
a very friendly atmosphere throughout the home with a fabulous group of dedicated and caring staff.
Through what is always going to be a difficult time for everyone, their support and kindness to both Dad, my wife and I, especially during Dad's final days was truly outstanding - thank you all so much.

Now that Mum has been diagnosed with dementia, we have sadly had to move her to another home. We are sorry to do this as the staff at Westvale have been so good to Mum and very helpful to us. She was extremely happy there, which gave us peace of mind.

Westvale's greatest strength is its staff and I mean all of them. Caregivers are patient, kind and thorough. The food - I'd be very happy to eat there and the cleaning staff do an excellent job. Office staff give clear explanations and were very supportive and kind when I was traumatised. Last, but
most definitely not least, the nursing staff are wonderful. It's still early days for us, but Mum's settled so quickly. It was a hard change for us too, but the care of the staff there has made it work.

Overall, the standard of care us excellent. However, staff levels have dropped over the last couple of months, especially at weekends. This led to my mother-in-law waiting over 20 minutes for someone to come and change her soiled pad. When she first arrived here that would have been less than 5 minutes.

I cannot praise enough the professional and loving care my mum received at Westvale. She settled well, was treated with dignity and respect at all times. He bedroom overlooking the garden was lovely and she took part in social activities each day and loved the meals. From going in in a wheelchair, she
was patiently treated and mobilised and after a week's stay, she walked out with a walking stick. The staff are so lovely and were genuinely sad to see her go. My mum was happy to go but couldn't praise them enough. Fantastic.

When we were told my Mother in Law was in end of life stages of dementia. We were obviously heartbroken. She had spent 3 months in hospital and was deemed medically fit and could be discharged, but she still needed 24-hour care and the thought of not being able to take her home could only be understood
by those going through it. So, the many visits of nursing homes started and we had almost given up hope of ever finding anywhere. We know it is not going to be home but none of the others were up to the standard we expected. At Westvale, as soon as we walked in, we felt comfortable. The care provided is exceptional. Everyone from management, nurses, carers, cleaners, chefs and the maintenance team are second to none. I an very grateful my Mother in Law is so well looked after. Thank you!

In the last few months, me and my family had to make the difficult choice to put my mum in nursing care due to an injury from an accident.
My mum is still young and lovely Westvale House has exceeded our expectations. All the staff are kind and dedicated to the residents care and wellbeing, there is
always someone to talk to and the manager follows any issues up quickly. Food and cleanliness is spot on and she enjoys activities each day.
Knowing mum is well cared for has helped me at such a stressful time.

Food - Variety and quality top class. Chefs always will offer an alternative dish to residents. Very much appreciated.
Less TV and more getting everyone involved - the sound of the TV takes over the room.
Room - often clothes just put on the top shelf in wardrobe and on the chair. No idea whether
clean or worn. Wardrobe full of items for use, as is the toilet room - more like a storeroom. Shelf piled up with razers - this is a new occurrence - storage of items is now on the packs in there. Not good.

Hello, my name is Natalie and I am the Deputy Manager here at Westvale House.


I joined the Westvale team in March 2025, but I have been with Barchester since 2019 when I joined as a Registered Nurse at Cheshire Grange Care Home, this is where I progressed to become Head of Unit, then Acting Deputy Manager, before working across the region as Deputy Manager supporting multiple homes – this is where I fell in love with Westvale House, so when the permanent position became available for Deputy Manager, there was no question this is where I wanted to be.


I decided to become a nurse when my children were small and I was a carer, I quickly discovered I love working in care, looking after people makes me happy. Whether that be my family or patients in a hospital or residents in a care home, it gives my life meaning. As a nurse it can be the most challenging job but also the most rewarding job.


I am a true believer in team work and I value every member of staff. Each department cannot work well without the other. I aim to support the staff so they feel appreciated, educated and empowered to be able to their job to the best of their abilities and in doing so, we as a team can deliver the best care possible to our residents.

There's not a request we haven't had!


Outside of work, I love to walk my Boxer dog Cooper. I also like to read, going to darts and rugby tournaments, and visiting my children and grandchildren who live over in Ireland.

I qualified as a Nurse in 2022 and having worked as a carer for many years it was a natural progression for me and I love it. The best part of the job is the people, the Residents and the families you meet.


There is always something going on at Westvale House - which suits me down to the ground. It matches my life outside of work, where I enjoy paddle boarding and kayaking with my Husband and then what better way to end a day on the water than with a BBQ and a glass of fizz!

Since I've been here for a number of years, I know the residents well and am able to care for them like they are family. Aimee Dyas

Job Title: Activities Co-Ordinator Joined: 2025

Hi, I’m Aimee and I am the Activities Co-ordinator here at Westvale House.


My role is to support Residents well-being, to provide enriching and meaningful activities and promote independence and social engagement.


I joined the team in April 2025 and by far the best part of the role is getting to know our Residents and their families. They have many stories to share and understanding their individual needs enables me to plan and deliver a tailored activities program that captures and includes everyone in the home.


Prior to joining Westvale I worked in Forensic Mental Health and prior as a Community Support Worker and feel that along with my NVQ Level 3 in Adult Social Care, I bring a wealth of knowledge and expertise not only to my role but to contribute to the Barchester whole home approach.


Outside of work, I enjoy regular trips to the cinema with my Fiancée, we adore our six cats and have plenty of cuddles and when time allows we get out and about for long walks.

Pam Gannon

Job Title: Head Housekeeper Joined: 2021

Hi, I'm Pam and I am Head Housekeeper here at Westvale House.


I have worked at Westvale for a number of years and then took the position as Head Housekeeper in 2021. Me and my team strive to keep the home looking its best, and ensure residents' rooms are always clean and tidy. I work hard to make sure our home always meets Barchester's high standards and create a warm and friendly atmosphere for residents, families, team and visitors.


Outside of work I love spending time with my two horses and enjoying downtime with my family.

Barry Hindley

Job Title: Head of Maintenance Joined: 2019

Hi, I'm Barry and I'm part of the Maintenance Team at Westvale House.


I joined the team in 2019 as a Kitchen Assistant, and in November 2023 moved over to Maintenance as this is where my passion is. I love being a helping hand in every corner of the home, and I'm always around for the team to rely on.


Most of all I love the interaction and variety my role provides, and I feel privileged to be able to make a difference in people’s lives by ensuring their home is maintained and presented to a high standard.

Hello, my name is Joy and I am a Senior Care Assistant at Westvale House.


I have worked here at Westvale House for the past 19 years and I have seen many changes, but what always remains the same is the level of high standard care which we deliver as a home to all our residents and the friendliness of the staff. I really do feel honoured to work here at Westvale House for Barchester.

Job Title: Admin Assistant Joined: 2025

Hi, I'm Jayne, and I am the Administration Assistant here at Westvale House.


I joined the team in January 2025 and I am the first person you will see when you walk into the home – you will always receive a warm and friendly welcome!


I support the front of house team in everyday admin tasks, reception duties, meeting and greeting family members, visitors, and professionals as they enter the building.


Outside of work I enjoy socialising with my friends, visiting coffee shop hotspots and dog walking.


I enjoy being part of the wonderful staff team at Westvale House and look forward to meeting you all when you visit.
