My mother stayed at Ferndale Court for approximately 2 and a half years.
The staff were excellent and really cared for and looked after my mother.
I would and have recommended this facility to all my friends and family.

My husband has been in Ferndale Court now for over 2 months and he has had very good care and is treated with dignity. The staff in my husbands unit are very kind and nothing is too much trouble for them. They make sure that they include my husband in all the activities and always talk to him.

Dad was taken into Ferndale in March at the age of 82, he was mainly bedbound, he was Diabetic and had other illnesses. Because of the Nurses care and attention within a few months of constant care and monitoring, Dads fluctuating blood sugar readings and other infections were brought under control,
and Dads general wellbeing improved.
Our whole Ferndale experience is one which we can look back on and truthfully say, that everything to make Dad comfortable was done. The staff and Nurses did everything for him. He was always clean and in clean clothes and bedding.
The food at Ferndale is really good, having tried it myself. Our family are really grateful to ALL the staff at Ferndale, always friendly and helpful. At our request, Dad passed away at Ferndale, very peacefully, and with dignity. At the end, the Nurses and staff were so considerate, we stayed with Dad as long as we wanted.
In my experience, I have no hesitation recommending Ferndale for your loved ones.

Overall Experience 5.0 out of 5
On visiting my cousin at Ferndale Court Care Home in Widnes I was very pleased with the attention the staff gave to the residents. They were all treated with the respect we all deserve. As a visitor, I was impressed with the home itself. It was clean and tidy and there was a very happy feeling about
the place. I have been a caregiver myself so I am aware of the needs of the elderly and my honest opinion is that at Ferndale Court Care Home all these needs are met. The staff are happy and friendly and I feel my cousin is safe in their hands, whoever came up with the idea of a letterbox on all doors was brilliant. My cousin seemed more settled seeing her room as her house, not her bedroom and I think that made it easier for her.

Overall Experience 5.0 out of 5
My friend has been in Ferndale Court for more than three years. We have always been very impressed by the care she received. The office staff, cleaners, laundry, caretaker, activities Director and nursing staff have always gone the extra mile in being friendly, helpful and very thoughtful in the way
they have treated my friend. Today as we were leaving St Helen's hospital. The consultant and nurses commented to me and my friend what a good care home she had come from. They were very impressed by her cleanliness, not only physically but her clothes also. I would recommend Ferndale Court to everyone. It really does feel like home.

My two cousins visited today (not seen mum since first came here). They were amazed how much mum has improved, how happy and bright she was. They said it was the nicest nursing home they have been in. I told them we are very happy with mums care here and it is a blessing to all the family to see mum

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.3 (9.313) out of 10 for Ferndale Court Care Home is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.3 out of 5 from 25 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 5.0 out of 5 from 22 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.313 for Ferndale Court Care Home is calculated as follows: ( (173 Excellents x 5) + (84 Goods x 4) + (15 Satisfactorys x 3) + (10 Poors x 2) + (15 Very Poors x 1) ) ÷ 297 Ratings = 4.313
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 5 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Ferndale Court Care Home is based on 22 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 20 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews, 0.05 Points for the next five Positive Reviews, and finally 0.025 Points for the next ten Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.050, 7th = 0.050, 8th = 0.050, 9th = 0.050, 10th = 0.050, 11th = 0.025, 12th = 0.025, 13th = 0.025, 14th = 0.025, 15th = 0.025, 16th = 0.025, 17th = 0.025, 18th = 0.025, 19th = 0.025, 20th = 0.025) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 = 4
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 58 registered maximum number of service users is 11.6, which has been reached with 22 Positive reviews. Points = 1
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
