Highstone Mews Care Home provides residents with a warm and welcoming living environment where they can enjoy a range of stimulating activities and pursue any existing interests or hobbies that they may have or learn new ones.

The home's dedicated activities coordinator organises a range of group activities that take place both indoors and in the home's gardens.

Highstone Mews Care Home is located in Barnsley and staff at the home work to get-to-know each resident as an individual and gain a good understanding of their personal care and support needs.

I found Highstone Mews Care Home extremely well run. From management right down the line everyone who works there is very caring and friendly. My husband had a really good experience with everyone. He was comfortable and felt very secure and well cared for.

Mum recently spent two weeks respite at Highstone Mews Care Home. she requires a high level of physical support due to her advance Alzheimer's Highstone Mews provided Mum excellent care. Having been let down by an alternative care home a couple of weeks before our holiday finding a home with the physical
aids and support was essential. Highstone Mews were enthusiastic to help and we weren't disappointed. Thank you.

My mother had good care from the immediate care staff, they could not have been better.
However, the practises of the management left a lot to be desired. Labeling my mother as a thief did not go down well, when she never has been - nor is she now she is in her new care home. I think a lot of it
was to do with them wanting the room that she was contracted for and wanted to move her into the higher grade dementia unit (more money for them!).
She was/still not is ready for that kind of unit yet, almost twelve months later.
So, the efforts of the carers gets Highstone the score of 5, if it were down to the management it would be a zero.

Best possible care we could have hoped for our mother. All staff are extremely kind and helpful and are on hand anytime they are needed.
Mum says the food is very good. The afternoon tea for the Jubilee for family and friends was wonderful.

Even though the past sixteen months, with the pandemic, has made the care of residents in the home extremely challenging the staff and management have done an admirable job. The home has continued to be a happy, safe and caring environment with good relationships throughout. My mother has always been
treated with great care and patience and has always been clean and well looked after. She is always spoken to with respect and dignity and reassured when necessary. Like all residents, she experiences a variety of suitable activities. Also, the management are open, approachable and always helpful with any questions, queries or concerns.

I can’t thank the staff enough for all the love, care and attention they have given my nannan while she has been in their care. The love and support they show towards my mum as well it's amazing. As a family, we cannot thank the staff at Highstone Mews enough for the continued care of my Nan. My Nan entered the care home just before the lockdown, this was a very difficult decision for my mum to make however it happened to be the best. Not only have the staff gone above and beyond to make every
day fun for the residents they also helped us through the process. Not being able to visit has been tough but the regular updates and the effort they have gone to keep residents in touch with their loved ones throughout the pandemic is nothing short of amazing. Excellent care, very clean and one happy Nan. From the bottom of our hearts thank you.

As a full-time carer and friend to one of the residents now at Highstone Mews I could not be happier with the care that she has been given since leaving mine.
The adjustment has been difficult for us both, and Covid has made it painful in many ways, but the staff's readiness to answers questions on
a day to day matter, the importance they put on making sure that each person there feels it is their home. The relaxed use of the phone when you call to speak with your loved one has really put my mind at ease. The building of the POD room for viewing visit, really nice touch.
There is always room for improvement but at Highstone Mews care is not one of them and if I have to name one person who for me is always on point it has to be one of the nurses in Kingstone. A caring nurse and helper who gets the job done.

My nannan has been in Highstone Mews for just over a year. You’re great, like family and we can go at any time. The carer has gone above and beyond getting my nan's medication sorted - it is honestly like home from home.

A care home not only needs good management but also the numbers of carers and a caring, loving attitude of those carers. The staff have been great with my dad who has Alzheimer’s, he became too aggressive to care for at home, but the family were worried how he would be able to cope in a care home. At
Highstone Mews, the staff are very caring, they have different activities for them, they are able to walk about if they want to (within the home). My dad may occasionally have an outburst, on the whole, he is calm and happy, which is all down to the staff. I’m so very grateful that my dad ended up at Highstone Mews after being disgusted with his care at another care home that he attended for respite care. Brilliant staff and management.

The home itself is pleasant and comfortable. Everywhere is cleaned daily. I've been very happy here. The staff are efficient and friendly. Nothing is too much trouble for them. They get to know everyone and treat them as individuals, which is important. The department I've been staying in over the last

I wish to thank the staff of Highstone Mews for all the love, compassion and kindness that they have shown towards my mother in the eight years that she has spent at this care home. They treated her in much the same way that they would treat one of their own family members. They always ensured that
her dignity was maintained. I also appreciate the support I received in her final days.

My mother who is 95 was admitted to the rehabilitation section of this home on the 6th of May, after falling and breaking her arm. My mother has nothing but the highest praise for both the establishment and all the staff. She told me the staff were marvellous and nothing was too much trouble. She says
she was looked after with care and dignity, the meals were wonderful and varied. The care of the staff has obviously gone a long way to enable her to be released to her home address on the 23rd June along with a care and physiotherapy plan being put in place. Whenever I rang to speak to her the staff were always jovial, pleasant and helpful. This home is an absolute credit compared to the horror stories relating to care homes, many of which should take a leaf out of their book.

My mother loved being here. The staff were terrific with her and totally understood her "Yorkshire" sense of humour. She wasn't always easy and could be very stubborn but she was jollied along. She was at Highstone Mews at various points in the last year. She regarded staff as members of her extended
family. She shared their stories as they shared hers which gave her a sense of belonging. After being in hospital her return to Highstone was nearly as good as if she had got back to her own home. She made as much progress as she could and didn't want to leave.

The staff are very friendly and attentive; they are always willing to help in every way. I would be nice to have showering facilities. I would recommend it to anyone who needs to use the facility.
