Mum has been in Water Royd since June 2024, the care Mum has received from all the staff has been outstanding. Mum has been cared for with kindness, dignity and respect.

Moving Mum into permanent care was heartbreaking for all the family, Mum has advanced dementia, she became agitated, frightened

and very distressed most of the time, now she has constant reassurance and expert care which means Mum is content and importantly, feels safe.

Mum is always lovely and clean, and dressed in matching clothes, clearly Mum's dignity is important to the staff. All the staff are friendly and approachable, they always have time to listen to any concerns, and answer any questions with kindness and care. The laundry and cleaning staff do a great job, and the food is excellent. All the staff talk to Mum with kindness and respect.

Water Royd is like a family home, the care is outstanding, we can't say thank you enough for caring for Mum with such care, kindness and compassion.

My husband has been in Water Royd since October 2023 where he received nursing care as he has advanced Alzheimer's. I always wanted to care for him at home, but as his Alzheimer's advanced, I became unable to provide the care he needed. His move into a permanent care home was an extremely difficult
time for us both. The care and support we both received then and continue to receive from all the staff is outstanding.
Water Royd is very well managed by the manager and deputy manager. The care and support they and all their staff give to residents is excellent. All of their staff are very kind, friendly and very caring. I cannot thank them enough for the outstanding care they give. I highly recommend Water Royd to anyone who wants a first-class, caring and supportive home for their loved ones.

Since coming to Water Royd from a neuro rehabilitation unit my husband has improved immensely. This is due to the commitment of the staff. Who have listened to my concerns regarding his health and have acted accordingly. Nothing seems to be too much trouble for the staff. They always seem to be smiling
and are really kind to all the clients on my husband's corridor. The atmosphere in the home is a very happy one. The food is very good and my husband has put weight on since coming here after being underweight. Well done to all the staff.

In spite of my partner not waiting to be in a care home, he is well cared for. I see him most days and although his illness causes mood swings, the drug regime stabilises him. We are disappointed that room refurbishment is taking years, now looking shabby in comparison to other homes, especially considering
the fees. Staff shortages are sometimes a problem. Overall good.

My father went into Water Royd in August 2023. This move was hard for both my father and me, his daughter. Emotions were high and we were both very scared and upset. The management and staff at Water Royd were fabulous. They were caring and loving from the first day and showed obvious care for my father
throughout his stay. They made what was a difficult circumstance a very bearable experience for both of us. They made me feel extremely welcome on all visits and the communication when I was not there was excellent. I cannot thank them enough and would recommend them to anyone wanting first-class care. Thank you, I will never forget.

Both parents moved into Water Royd early August 2023, after looking around several other care homes.
Water Royd is definitely the best of all we saw. All staff are friendly and welcoming and nothing is too much trouble. The rooms and communal areas are clean, contemporary, and well-equipped, and the
homemade meals are delicious and plentiful.
Both Mum and Dad are very comfortable and happy to be here.

After leaving hospital and being in respite care Dad moved in to Water Royd a week before Mum could. It was the longest week ever, when she moved in she was completely different - more relaxed and settled.
I can't thank the staff at Water Royd enough for all they've done and how welcoming they've been
to all our family. Water Royd does feel like our extended family! Thank you!

This care home was excellent in looking after our father in the last few months of his life. The warmth of the team was impressive, helpfulness superb as nothing was ever too much bother. As a family, they supported us, giving us time to talk or a shoulder to cry on. We could see the genuine affection
for our father, and he was treated with dignity and kindness to the end.
A big thanks to everyone who works in the home

Put Mum into respite to see how she likes it, never done it before, but my husband and I want her safe while we have a holiday later in the year. She said she had really enjoyed it, all the staff were wonderful, and she couldn't thank them enough. Enjoyed the meals and really enjoyed the entertainment.
She said it was really nice to have some company. We know when she goes in again that she will be well looked after, and we won't have to worry about her when we go away. A big well done, and thank you to all staff.

We were so pleased to find our mum a nursing home where we feel she is safe and looked after. So far staff made mum feel welcome from the beginning, have lots of care and compassion. Water Royd House Nursing Home have also made my Dad feel welcome and have been very accommodating to us as a family.
After a previous bad experience for Mum in a care home, Water Royd has been our security blanket, and we cannot thank them enough

The home is trying desperately to overcome all the downsides of Covid when they were unable to entertain the residents to the previous levels. My grandma moved here after previously staying in a home that did not care for her properly. Her health had declined, and she needed nursing care. My grandma had not spoken to us for six-plus months and no longer recognised us. Two months later, with the care she has received and the care she deserves,
she is a different person! The best she has been in a very long time and talks to not only us but the staff too, which speaks for itself! Staff are lovely. Nothing is too much trouble, and my grandma is happy! We can't thank the staff enough for their support and care. Thank you for giving me my grandma back.

When my mum left the previous care home, she no longer recognised me and had stopped talking. Due to the excellent care provided here, she has improved greatly. Staff are lovely, friendly and caring, and we can't praise them enough. The management team are always available if needed and discuss any
concerns you may have and resolve them quickly or offer a full explanation so that you feel happy and content that your loved ones are safe and cared for.

Current Review Score: 9.8 (9.799)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.8 (9.799) out of 10 for Water Royd House Nursing Home is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.8 out of 5 from 23 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 5.0 out of 5 from 23 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.799 for Water Royd House Nursing Home is calculated as follows: ( (226 Excellents x 5) + (41 Goods x 4) + (7 Satisfactorys x 3) ) ÷ 274 Ratings = 4.799
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 5 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Water Royd House Nursing Home is based on 23 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 20 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews, 0.05 Points for the next five Positive Reviews, and finally 0.025 Points for the next ten Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.050, 7th = 0.050, 8th = 0.050, 9th = 0.050, 10th = 0.050, 11th = 0.025, 12th = 0.025, 13th = 0.025, 14th = 0.025, 15th = 0.025, 16th = 0.025, 17th = 0.025, 18th = 0.025, 19th = 0.025, 20th = 0.025) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 = 4
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 62 registered maximum number of service users is 12.4, which has been reached with 23 Positive reviews. Points = 1
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
