Mum has been cared for by Water Royd House since May 2019. She has received excellent treatment and attention. Despite all the complications the Covid pandemic has brought I have had regular contact and updates on Mum's well-being and can see she is happy and content in her surroundings. Well done to
all the staff and a big thank you.

I feel my husband has been well cared for and seems quite content. The staff are very friendly and caring. Any request has been attended to. The food is good and plentiful. It was so very hard not to see him for long periods during Covid. Sadly, we are back in that position again.

Lovely, kind and thoughtful staff who help Mum on a daily basis, we haven't seen her room due to Covid restrictions so can't comment on this. Mum's clothes and belongings often go missing. Would be nice to visit her in private in her own room, also I think activities are restricted due to Covid. The
staff always keep us up to date with any health issues and have put measures in place to stop her falling - would like to thank the staff for their kindness.

Mum recently had two weeks respite here. She was unsure and anxious about going in. She has had excellent care including an unplanned visit to the doctor. The staff treated Mum with dignity and kept me informed at every stage. It has been a weight off of my shoulders!

Only had limited access as my parents entered Water Royd during the pandemic. So far I have not seen their rooms but everything I have seen is great. Lots of activities to help keep their minds active and the afternoon teas look well lush. All staff, management and activities staff are worth their weight
in gold. Keep up the good work and thanks.

Due to Covid restrictions, my experience of Water Royd House Nursing Home is slightly limited, but I find the staff are all very caring and helpful to both my wife and myself. I have the utmost faith in the standard of care provided and the standard of the buildings and grounds. I feel my wife is in
very capable hands. I cannot comment on two things; rooms -never seen one, value for money - funded.

During the most serious and disturbing time of certainly my lifetime, my wife has been cared for with the most loving tenderness I could ever wish for, equally so for me. I have been lept regularly informed of my wife wellbeing. On all occasions, Christmas, birthdays, anniversaries, and Valentine's
Day cards with absolute beautiful verses have been forwarded on my wife's behalf to me. From top to bottom, all the staff are so caring, loving and show so much affection not only to my wife but to all.

My mum has been in the home for a number of years. We have found the care and support she receives to be of an overall excellent standard. It has been difficult during the COVID situation to thoroughly cover all aspects of care however mum has remained stable and appears happy. The staff are to be commended
for their hard work and cheerfulness during this difficult time.

Very nice to be able to visit Dad during the Covid pandemic. Staff are very friendly and the guidelines for Covid safety were adhered to. It is a sunny day today and it was made extra special for Dad to be able to have his visit sat outside.

Mum moved into Water Royd in April 2019, when she was no longer able to manage alone at home due to severe arthritis and Alzheimer’s. We were able to bring pictures and ornaments from home to personalise her room, which helped her to settle in. She has always been treated with respect, care and consideration
by the staff at the home, and we have often seen her laughing with them. The staff are generally good at keeping us up to date with how mum is, especially since we have not been able to visit her for some time because of the Covid-19 restrictions. It is never too much trouble for them to talk to us about her care and condition, and answer our questions. No care home is perfect, but we have been very happy with mum’s care overall and would happily recommend Water Royd.

Current Review Score: 9.6 (9.635)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.6 (9.635) out of 10 for Water Royd House Nursing Home is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.6 out of 5 from 26 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 5.0 out of 5 from 26 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.635 for Water Royd House Nursing Home is calculated as follows: ( (214 Excellents x 5) + (79 Goods x 4) + (17 Satisfactorys x 3) ) ÷ 310 Ratings = 4.635
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 5 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Water Royd House Nursing Home is based on 26 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 20 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews, 0.05 Points for the next five Positive Reviews, and finally 0.025 Points for the next ten Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.050, 7th = 0.050, 8th = 0.050, 9th = 0.050, 10th = 0.050, 11th = 0.025, 12th = 0.025, 13th = 0.025, 14th = 0.025, 15th = 0.025, 16th = 0.025, 17th = 0.025, 18th = 0.025, 19th = 0.025, 20th = 0.025) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 = 4
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 62 registered maximum number of service users is 12.4, which has been reached with 26 Positive reviews. Points = 1
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
