Most of the staff are very polite and helpful but could do with a few more staff and cleaners, so that when residents ring their bell there is plenty of staff to see them, without too long a wait.

I visited a friend today (24th February) and as soon as I walked in the front door of the home the smell of urine hit me! My friend's room was just as bad and her quilt was damp and urine-stained. She too smelled of urine which is not her fault and is all down to her dementia. Some major improvements in this area need to be made.

Thank you for your review and I feel I must address the points you have raised. I have investigated this matter and unfortunately, the resident does have quite challenging continence care and the room is deep cleaned daily in order to support this.

In relation to the entrance and communal...

Myself and my family are so grateful to the kindness that the staff in the home have shown to my mother.
The home is clean and tidy, and Mum loves spending time in the lounges - participating in the events and activities the home has on.

Overall, we are thrilled with how Mum has been treated in the home.

All the staff we have met have been kind, caring and friendly. Grandpa seems well-fed, clean and supported. There is not much stimulation for him, he doesn't get outside in the fresh air and seems to spend most of the day in a chair where he can't even see the TV or look out into the garden. He is profoundly deaf so most activities pass him by, he can only really join in if someone sits with him and writes things down for him as he can't hear conversation. Staff don't have time to do this, so he is quite lonely and bored a lot, although happier than living alone.

The care home is clean and the staff are friendly and kind. There isn't much stimulation for my grandfather due to his deafness. Some trips out or interaction with a chalkboard to write what is said would really improve his quality of life in his later years. There is lots of space for the residents and it's quite clean and bright.

My mother has only been in Broom Lane for 4 weeks but I have noticed a difference in her due to the company she has. The home is lovely and clean, the staff are very caring and my mother loves to chat.

It's a very clean and happy place to walk into. All the staff make you feel very welcome. Been round other care homes but this is the only one I would have my mum in. They do everything in their power to help keep my mum safe and happy. She has been there two years.

All staff are friendly and welcoming and pleasant when speaking to the residents. It is always nice to be offered a drink if staff are not too busy. All enquiries about doctors, food, opticians, feet and teeth have been dealt with promptly and to my satisfaction.

During the time my granddad was a resident at Broom Lane he was well looked after and staff supported all of his needs very well. From visiting my granddad often I could see how settled he was and how comfortable they made him during his stay. Staff were all very friendly and taken time to get to know my granddad and understood that sometimes he could have been challenging. With working in care myself, I know that little things like that mean a lot and make a big difference and we couldn't thank them enough for what they did for him. Also, thank you to the management who always had time to reassure us and keep us informed about my granddad when needed.

My father has only been here for just over a week so it is early days yet.

So far I have found the carers to be extremely helpful and friendly. The food seems to be good and I believe my father to be good and I believe my mother to be comfortable and happy. I have not yet seen much evidence of activities but I understand they take place.

I have been a resident in Broom Lane Care Home for two years. I am very happy here and would recommend the home confidently. The directors visit regularly, are polite and respectful, the manager is very caring, listens to all your needs, goes out of her way to make sure you are well cared for, feel safe and are comfortable. All the care workers work very hard to meet your needs and are so friendly. I would be very happy to stay here for all time.

The staff and atmosphere at the care home are lovely. From my perspective as a daughter, it is a huge support to know my dad is getting the best care and if there were any concerns they would contact us immediately. The staff are professional and friendly with dad. He respects and listens to them but they can have a laugh together too. He was asked recently what the care home was like? "It's like being at home" was his reply. That says it all really.

My parents entered Broom Lane Care Home in early October 2018. From the start, the care, attention and kindness they received was exceptional. Sadly my mother died in November, after a very long illness. The carers supported us wonderfully throughout. My mum's passing was very peaceful and I can truthfully say I am comforted that she died in this home surrounded by these lovely people. Thank you all.

Our family chose to transfer our parents to Broom Lane Care Home following the announcement that their previous Care Home was closing.
Throughout this whole stressful process, the manager and all the staff and carers here have been kind, considerate, caring and dealt with any queries promptly and professionally. Mum and Dad appear to have settled well into their new home and I feel that this has been achieved through the hard work and dedication of everyone at Broom Lane.

To me it appears to be a bright, friendly and homely place to live.
