them to settle in and feel comfortable in their surroundings.
We feel very lucky to have found Swallownest,, on day one the staff were friendly and welcoming, that hasn't changed at all in the three months mum has lived there, you can feel the happy atmosphere just as soon as you walk through the door.
We as a family now can visit our mother, enjoy our stay with her and leave her with the knowledge that she is in safe hands. If she is happy then so are we.
Thank you for taking the time to write such a lovely review. I will share your kind words with my team.
I've visited Elsie for a few months now and she seems to have fitted in very well. While I have been there the things she has requested such as fresh fruits and ice lollies in hot weather etc have always been provided. Staff are very caring and even I am asked if I need drinks in hot weather too. It is very clean and well kept.
Thank you for taking the time to share this. We're glad Elsie has settled in so well and that little touches like fresh fruit and ice lollies in the warm weather help her feel at home. It's good to hear you feel looked after on your visits too. We'll pass your thanks on to the team.
Came to see my grandma for the first time since she's been at the home, a musical show had just finished and the service users were all given a cup of tea and a bun. The atmosphere of the place was lovely and the staff were all very caring. The maintenance man was making sure with all the residents that it was ok for him to go in their room and to check what issues they might have had. Everyone knew everyone by name and everyone treated my grandma with kindness and respect. We were shown photos and videos of another recent performance and even found my grandma on the photo wall in one of the boards, she looks like she's having a great time and much happier to see her with people than at home by herself. We were also invited back for the summer fayre a week on Saturday. Thankyou for all you do
Came to see my Mama this afternoon. She was watching a show but two ladies (manager I think) brought her to us and got us all settled in a little corner so we could spend time with her. She looked immaculate and cared for and appeared very happy. Everything about our visit was lovely and everybody couldn't do enough for Mama and for us whilst we were there. A beautiful place for Mama to now be living and I'm certain the care she will continue to receive will be to an outstanding standard. Thank you for making a hard thing much easier.
This is lovely to hear, thank you for taking the time to write such an amazing review. I will share your lovely comments with my team.
All the staff we saw seemed to go out of their way with every resident giving a personalised approach to care.
Thank you
It is our pleasure to care for your relative here.
I will be sure to share this review with the my team.
We were very happy with the staff, who were very caring. I felt that he was safe and being cared for properly. I think he would have liked a few more activities, as he felt that he was sitting in a chair for a long time. On the whole, we were very pleased with the experience.
Thank you for taking time to write this lovely review.
We initially contacted Swallownest care home in May 2025 regarding respite care with a view to hopefully encouraging mum to move in on a permanent basis.. The staff were all friendly and welcoming and despite her initial reservations mum soon acknowledged that it would be a good idea to stay. The care that mum received was excellent, we were welcomed to visit whenever we wanted. The team all work really hard to provide a great service and quickly became an extended family to mum . She enjoyed taking part in some of the activities organised by Dawn and Tracey from the wellbeing team but even when she chose to remain in her room staff constantly checked in to say hello. The catering staff worked really hard to accommodate mums changing dietary needs.Sadly mums health deteriorated and she required end of life care . It was so comforting that she was surrounded by people that she knew . Our only regret is that she didn't have more time there as her quality of life was improved so much
All the staff were very helpful, caring and supportive especially on the day my mum died. The home manager was also excellent on a particularly bad day i was having when I visited. The night staff were excellent too.
My 101 year old mother has been in several care homes over the last couple of years and Swallownest is the best by far. The atmosphere there is warm and friendly and this is obvious as soon as you walk through the door. The staff interact with the residents and their families and treat them with warmth and respect. It is obvious that they enjoy their caring roles. There are frequent activities held in the large, sunny lounge and the residents are encouraged to join in. The home and grounds are clean and well maintained. I would have no hesitation in recommending Swallownest Care Home to anyone looking for a well run, caring 'home from home' for their loved ones.
Swallownest Care Home go above and beyond to care and look after my grandma. It's not just a home of care its a "home". During December there has been the most amazing activities for the festive season and the residents have had a brilliant time. Thank you to all the staff but a big shout out to Tracey and Dawn- activities and wellbeing for giving the residents a lovely Christmas time.
The staff attempt to do their upmost to help in every area. The choice of food is good and variable. Activities great and everyone is welcome to attend. Facilities are constantly looked at and upgraded, this includes a new bathroom with bath and chair lift which will make a massive improvement to new residents, some who have not been able to have a bath for years. Management are excellent in all aspects. Great [lace to be a resident.
I came to visit a friend and all the staff are lovely. The lounge facilities are decorated festive. My friend is very happy and its the best she looked for a long time with hair done and nails. The care home is very welcoming and I would be happy to stay here if ever needed.
Swallownest Care Home is one of the nicest places, during my time visiting my lovely friend, they made me so very welcome and made me part of the team. They supported me through some tough times and were there to enjoy the good times too. The care my friend got was incredible and not just from carers from everyone. The team there are brilliant. Dawn and Tracy are absolutely brilliant at their job as activity co-ordinators and i am very pleased to be able to call them friends, the same goes for many other staff, too many to list. Since the loss of my friend I am still welcome to pop in for a cuppa and participate in social events. Anyone thinking of using Swallownest Care Home for their loved one should do so without question !
All staff always have a smile and a giggle with my dad.
I can't actually find any fault with this place. May seem a quick review after a short while, but after being in a few others, I just knew.
Admin lady has been epic at helping me fill all the forms in.
After visiting for only a week, I feel like part of the furniture and my mental health has improved knowing and feeling he is safe and looked after.
My dad is a joker and he has met his match with the staff haha. They are ace xx
Mum was welcomed by warm friendly staff upon her arrival. She settled in very quickly and well little teething problems were dealt with straight away. Mum made friends and took up knitting again! She had some fabulous afternoons with the wellbeing ladies. Food! Plenty of it and all good! Plenty of choices and drinks. It was so helpful to myself as I know someone was around day and through the night to see to her needs. Weekly doctor visit a fantastic help. We both had a well deserved rest. Thank you.
Great place for grandma, taken great care of her and really helped me and mum out. Thanks again!
Was so pleased when Mum went into Swallownest Care Home. The staff, atmosphere and room and facilities are great. The only negative is waiting for mum to be assessed for a chair so can join in the activities in the lounge and be around people. I know this is not the home's fault but OT comin out to her, she's now been stuck in bed 4 weeks and her physical and mental health has gone down hill. The period of time needs addressing but I have no fault with the home itself.
Dear Karen, Thank you for the positive feedback about Swallownest care home. I appreciate your concerns around the chair; however a chair has now been ordered, but we have no control on how long it takes for a chair to be delivered. I hope you are happy with the temporary measure we have put in place to ensure your mum can come out into the communal areas to spend time with other residents.
I am a regular volunteer at the home and although I have connections to the home through both my father in law and my mum being resident here. Although my father in law was only in the home for a few weeks, some time ago, I got the feeling that the home was somewhere special and so when it was time for me to consider somewhere for my mum, I had no doubt where I wanted her to go. Since mum passed away a few years go I have continued to go to the home to volunteer and still see the difference that the dedicated staff make to the lives of the residents. I hope that my small part in making the home seem like "home" to the residents helps. I love to help the residents if we are crafting, or singing if there is a concert or sometimes just sitting down having a chat with them one to one. The management team at the home also do a great job as do the kitchen, laundry and cleaning staff. Great place.
This home's attentive manner is outstanding. Each & every one of the management/staff go out of their way to treat you as one of their own. My husband said that everyone was so kind & lovely, that they went out of their way to make you feel welcome. Nothing's too much trouble. The food is so good & plentiful. I don't think he wanted to come home from the respite! Thanks again to all.
There are some lovely people working here whom I have the utmost respect for. They do a great job, sometimes in difficult circumstances, with the residents and their families. They should never underestimate the impact they have.
