Abbey Grange in Sheffield provides residential, dementia and nursing care. During my Dad's short stay until his passing on December 3rd, the staff at Abbey Grange have shown nothing but compassion, care, dignity and total professionalism. They treated us with total respect and compassion and went out of their way to help us and keep us informed during tough Covid restrictions,
including numerous phone calls and Facetime. If anyone is looking for a care home for their loved ones, I highly recommend the Grange.

We have only had contact with the home since July 2020. As a family, we are very pleased with the care that has been given. We have been kept informed of all aspects of care for the whole of the time. The staff are warm and friendly and nothing is too much trouble when we have contacted them by phone
as we cannot visit at this moment. We are kept up to date by email as well as phone.

I am extremely happy with the care given to my father during these trying times. There has also been a readiness to give support to me and regular updates whenever there are any health issues. While I miss seeing him I know he is in good hands.

My mum has been in respite care at Abbey Grange. She has put on weight since she moved in. She doesn't seem as nervous. All queries have been answered promptly. The staff seem very caring and even arranged a video call between me and my mum.

The staff at Abbey Grange are friendly and pleasant, due to the current COVID situation, they have adapted and put measures in place so that visiting my grandparents was like a home from home experience. The staff are patient and kind and engage my grandfather, who despite having dementia, make him

Always a friendly welcome. My dad appears happy and mostly well cared for although he hasn't got out of bed often enough and spends large amounts of his time alone. I feel staff could offer more entertainment for him within his room through staff putting DVDs on or music for him to enjoy.

My brother is a resident at Abbey Grange. As I only get to see him once a week for a couple of hours, going on this I can see the carers/clerical staff do their utmost to see to the needs of the resident. I realise this is a difficult thing to undertake, as I helped my sister cope with care of my other
brothers some years ago. I am a half brother a lot younger than them.

Staff at Abbey Grange cared for our mother as if she were their own. She was shown dignity, compassion, stimulation and kindness by care staff, support staff and management. Her rooms were kept clean and tidy all the time, and mums belongings always safe and secure. The food was good and adapted to
her needs, she was helped to eat when required. Staff were also keen to ensure Mum had stimulation and this included encouraging her to participate in activities as well as simply talking with her. They made time to understand her background so they could engage her in conversation despite dementia. Mum was encouraged to help herself to maintain her independence but never left to struggle. The staff were kind and patient with her. The whole facility is clean and generally well maintained, tired in some areas, but not in any way that affects the care the service users receive.

I feel the home provides an acceptable level of care. Staffing levels appear good in terms of the ratio of carers to patients. I have visited on a regular basis and found this to be so on all visits. My major concern is the standard of the rooms which is very poor. I have only, in my many visits, ever
seen one domestic and never seen any deep cleaning and in fact, my relative's room has always got food (biscuit pieces) on the floor (the same pieces in the same place) for several days.

I was very nervous how dad would settle in at a nursing home but he likes it here and that's mainly down to how he's looked after. Recommended.

I am very happy with the care my mum received at Abbey Grange. Carers are very thoughtful and managers are very approachable. My mum's room is lovely, as she is bed-bound, this is really important.

Comfortable care home and suitable for my aunt's needs. She has improved measurably since she came here and increased in well-being and put on weight.

The home always feels welcoming and the staff and management are very friendly. Always very helpful and if you have any issues they are dealt with immediately. Nothing seems too much trouble when you approach the staff for anything. When being in the home I have noticed how caring the staff are with

I believe the care staff do the best they can but I am not convinced there are enough of them or that they are "directed" appropriately. When I want information about my father, it is difficult to get an answer without being passed around from one person to another and this is very frustrating. I worry
about the stimulation of residents due to what appears to be a lack of staff to spend time individually with residents.

Our Mum has recently had another fall through her determination to do things on her own even though there are things in place to alert staff when she moves. We would like to commend that carers for responding quickly, notifying medical staff and contacting me by phone. The staff are very patient and
caring ans always settle Mum down when she has irritable and confusing days. She is always treated with dignity. We are always informed of any change in her health and medication, also personal needs for anything to make her as comfortable as possible.

My mother has a large room in Abbey Grange which is excellent for her as she needs a hoist for mobility.
The food has been erratic in quality but there has been a recent improvement.
Why aren't items such as malty drinks and mint sauce provided for meals/every day? For the money paid they should be.
Many
of the staff are very pleasant and welcoming.
Have had to mention poor hygiene care on one occasion which seems to have improved.
Someone needs to clean the window sill where flowers/plants are kept.

Sharon is our Activity Coordinator at Abbey Grange, she is always coming up with creative ideas to keep our residents happy, occupied and entertained. We have a full weekly schedule of group activities and Sharon will get to know people individually in order to help them to continue the hobbies and pastimes that are important and meaningful to them.
