Permanent staff make all the difference at Alpine Lodge. Staff that know the residents really do provide great care.
The activity team are great, interaction, games and hands on stimulation make time pass and ensures residents aren't sat in front of the TV all day/night.
Food could be more versatile
to suit the needs of dementia patients. Please use a specialist dietitian.

Good care home - wonderful caring staff and management - entertainment and activates excellent. Cleanliness good but like 99% of dementia homes have a certain smell - associated with the condition. Always room for improvement - meals - good. As for other homes more staff needed.
Reply from Rachael Dunseath, Head of Marketing at Alpine LodgeThanks for taking time to leave a review, and the praise for our team. I will make sure they are made aware, and will pass on the ideas for areas where we could improve.

My Mother has been in this care home for just over a year suffering with Alzheimers disease. I visit quite regularly at different times of the day. I have always found my Mum"s room to be spotless clean. Also the comunal rooms are well kept. All the care home staff are exceptional and very caring and
understanding of the residents needs. Particularly, the Activities team do great work for the residents. Supervisor, Tracey, on Mum"s wing is amazing. She always keeps me up to date with how Mum is doing. She is a credit to Alpine Lodge and her profession.

Alpine Lodge is the ideal place for my Mum to live her later years. Her desire to be independent is respected, with just enough support for her to feel safe and cared for.

The staff are all lovely and friendly and there are plenty of activities to improve the quality of life for residents.

I'm

very grateful that my Mum is here. It's the first time in years that I've been able to relax and not worry about her.

Keep up the outstanding work all at Alpine Lodge. You are fantastic.

My mother suffered with Alzheimer's and could no longer cope, living at home with care visits. She moved into Alpine Lodge, and was immediately made to feel welcome and comfortable.
Her care has been exemplary. Daily care was tremendous and the activities were a really brought a smile to her face
albeit fleetingly.
Sadly, she passed earlier this week. The staff were fabulous and carried out her wishes with regard to end of life care.
I can wholeheartedly recommend Alpine Lodge. Thank you for caring.

Thank you to all the wonderful staff at Alpine Lodge. He was end of life when he arrived, we chose them because of the wonderful care my dad had received in earlier years. Again nothing had changed the care and love he received from the staff was second to none. The meals were first class and great
care and personal choice nothing was unavailable. A special thank you to the nursing staff who made him comfortable in his final days. He was very comfortable and peaceful which was wonderfully reassuring when we really needed them.
Reply from Jackie Brook, Care Relationships at Alpine LodgeThank you so much for your kind and heartfelt words about Alpine Lodge. When I was informed that my father-in-law was being transferred from the hospital to Alpine Lodge I was very dismissal. But to be honest it was the best thing that could have happened to him, he came on leaps and bounds and I cannot thank the staff enough for the care and affection provided. Every member
of staff is very courteous professional, overall genuinely caring. I am sorry that he had to be relocated due to distance from home and family. Once again thank you from the whole family.

I left a 5 star review when my mother in law first entered Alpine Lodge. However, I wish to change my star rating to 2 as although the building is really nice, we have found the level of care/service to be lacking, especially at weekends. In my opinion, they are seriously understaffed.
Reply from Dolores Pooley, Regional Manager at Alpine LodgeThank you for sharing your concerns about the staffing levels on weekends. I want to assure you that our service uses a dependency tool as a guide for staffing, but we always staff above the recommended levels. If a staff member calls in sick and we cannot cover with our own team, we have a plan to use a local agency to ensure that our staffing remains safe at all times.

We understand that when you visit our building on weekends, the manager and administrator may not be present. We apologise if this has made you feel neglected. We value your feedback and assure you that we take it seriously. Thank you for sharing your comments with us.

Current Review Score: 9.6 (9.594)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.6 (9.594) out of 10 for Alpine Lodge is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.6 out of 5 from 18 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 5.0 out of 5 from 18 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.644 for Alpine Lodge is calculated as follows: ( (146 Excellents x 5) + (64 Goods x 4) + (5 Satisfactorys x 3) + (1 Poors x 2) ) ÷ 216 Ratings = 4.644
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 4.95 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Alpine Lodge is based on 18 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 20 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews, 0.05 Points for the next five Positive Reviews, and finally 0.025 Points for the next ten Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.050, 7th = 0.050, 8th = 0.050, 9th = 0.050, 10th = 0.050, 11th = 0.025, 12th = 0.025, 13th = 0.025, 14th = 0.025, 15th = 0.025, 16th = 0.025, 17th = 0.025, 18th = 0.025, 19th = 0.025, 20th = 0.025) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 = 3.95
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 67 registered maximum number of service users is 13.4, which has been reached with 18 Positive reviews. Points = 1
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
