Can't rate this care home enough. So friendly and caring people. Mum loves it. She was so ill, lost loads of weight, and very depressed before she went in. Now she has put weight on, so much happier and better in health. Can't thank the carers enough for what they have done and continue to do. Thank

Mother in Law was in Balmoral and was looked after well. When it was her birthday, staff organised a party with entertainment and cakes. "Great". So when my wife developed dementia and the home she was designated to couldn't give her 24/7 attention, we decided on Balmoral, knowing they would look after
her well.

Throughout my husbands care with Balmoral I have nothing but the highest respect to all and everyone involved. I visit on a regular basis and the atmosphere is of the highest standard regarding the excellent warmth I receive from all the loving carers and staff. I also on every occasion leave Balmoral

I have found the staff extremely capable, friendly, and dedicated to the care and welfare of the residents of their home, especially the staff on Winsor Unit. The activities and care on this unit are exceptional.

I have chosen to pass on my thoughts on Balmoral Care Home, in a period where the Covid-19 virus was running riot throughout care homes across the UK.
Balmoral staff had kept our family up to date throughout this unprecedented period, squashing any negative reports on PPE and what was happening in
the home. The home manager phoned me personally to inform me that the home did and still does have a stockpile of PPE for both staff and residents.
My father is fragile, and if he has had any mishap, no matter how small or large I get a phone call explaining the incident and the procedures the care staff have taken, which is very reassuring that you know that the staff has Dad’s welfare as their main priority.
The home has still carried out lots of activities throughout this period and tried to let the residents socially mix where possible at mealtimes. This is probably the only time he wants to see others as he tends to stay in his room. The home opened a Facebook page as well.

Thank you to all the care staff for looking after our mam, especially during the lockdown. Unfortunately, mam contracted the Coronavirus and was then admitted into hospital, she was one of the lucky one’s going back to Balmoral. We can’t praise the staff enough for the love and care she receives from
them all. Mam can’t speak due to a brain stroke, but she had the biggest smile on her face when she saw all the care staff. Special thanks to a certain member of staff who called me to say we could all go and see our mam on VE Day in an outside area, keeping to the strict two metre distance. This was the first time we’ve seen Mam since the second week in March. She looked better than we expected and gave us the thumbs up. A big thank you to all the team.

My relative and I are very fortunate to have staff at Balmoral that are kind and sociable to us as visitors and have a very good rapport with my relative. I am pleased to say that our relative seems settled and happy regarding the care received.
Sadly though, over the past 12 months, I have seen
a lot of staff changes that, if I'm honest, has worried me. I understand staffing changes happen for a number of reasons, but there seems to be fewer staff available when we visit and they are not always available to share general information. More concern is that sometimes it has taken a visit from us as relatives, to notice things that require a member of staff's attention. Thankfully, any concerns that we have noticed have been dealt with swiftly and thoroughly.

I would recommend this care provider to friends and family if they needed similar care or treatment as I understand how difficult it is to decide where to place a loved one if they can no longer look after themselves and could be putting themselves in harm's way. The care/support they receive is excellent,
nothing is ever too much, they go above and beyond the call of duty. They are treated with dignity and the staff always have time to chat and take care of the residents' needs. From what I've seen of the rooms, they vary in size and style, some have ensuites and some are without. Overall the rooms are clean and are furnished with everything you could possibly need but you are free to make it more personal and hang family photographs, etc. There is a large dining room where meals are eaten, there are always a couple of options. You can see what activities are planned for the week on the wall in reception. Safety and security are very high. Staff exceptional amid Covid-19 pandemic.

My father is very happy here. I find all staff friendly, welcoming and very informative. I'm am always kept informed of anything going on within the home or indeed any change in my dad. I believe he is in good hands, and being very well looked after.

My Mum went into Balmoral Care Home 21-months ago after suffering a Hemorrhagic stroke and spending some months in the hospital. She now has limited memory and doesn't really understand her environment. She is consequently in the dementia ward of the care home, it is an awful time when you are trying
to come to terms with what has happened to your loved one, and you want to be sure you are getting them the best care you can. On my first visit to Balmoral, my impressions were that the decor was a little tired, but the staff seemed great. Having thought about this for a while, I realised that the most important thing is that the staff that look after Mum and care about her, well I can assure you that every member of staff I have come into contact with at Balmoral have been absolutely amazing, so much so, that I class many of them as family friends. They really are an outstanding team, and they deserve every bit of praise I can give, especially in these unprecedented times. Thank you all.

The staff at Balmoral Care home in Sheffield have gone above and beyond to do the utmost for my gran. They are very friendly and can't do enough for the residents. They all work tirelessly to give the care I would expect for my gran as she is my world. They have plenty of entertainment including games,
art sing-alongs. I cannot thank them enough for what they do and the hardships they face. I highly recommend Balmoral Care Home in Sheffield.

Although Balmoral Care Home is my only experience of care for a relative, I am confident that mum could not have received better care elsewhere.
Management have cooperated with external support services such as DOLS, NHS, Social workers etc.
The care staff are extremely friendly and compassionate
in view of mums demanding needs.
All requests from family have been met, within the bounds of H & S policies, especially allowing to have her budgies in her room and feeding them where necessary.
Being able to use the kitchen facilities freely, whilst visiting is greatly valued as this, indeed is her home.

We cannot recommend Balmoral Care Home enough. The care, dedication and sheer hard work shown by all the staff is superb. Our mother was a resident in Balmoral from September 2019 until her passing in March 2020 and we had reservations - we had read about care homes in the press. We should never
have had any qualms. From day one mum settled in and we were so happy with her care. Why had we struggled to help her when it was readily available, if only we had known. Thank you all the staff in Balmoral.

On initially picking this home for my nan we were pleased with the care however due to changes in management and a roundabout effect with staff the care has plummeted to disgraceful. The care on the dementia unit, it is frightening how understaffed and undereducated the management is in dementia care.
Heartbroken how a good home has gone down the toilet due to poor management.

To everybody in Hampton Unit. Eight months ago a heartwrenching decision was made to move Mum into Balmoral. If only I had known that this was the right decision to make, many sleepless nights would have been saved. Right from the day she moved in until the day she passed, the care, love and devotion
she received from all staff were outstanding. We, as a family, cannot thank the staff enough. The first day I left Mum I looked back with sadness and one of the residents looked at me and said don't worry, we will look after her. How right he was. From the bottom of our hearts, thank you.

Mum went into Balmoral for respite care to cover our holidays. Whilst the staff were lovely to her, the feeling was that there were insufficient people to ensure that personal care needs were met and unacceptable wait times for being taken to the toilet. The care home was clean and the food acceptable.

On entering Balmoral Care Home you get a nice feeling about it, the kindness that greets you and the management so caring and kind. The carers are so respectful, kind and caring, the kindness they show to all residents. They are also thoughtful to all visitors and make them feel welcome. My brother

Job Title: Home Manager at Balmoral Care Home, Sheffield

Since a young age Lesley has been passionate about helping others. With her kind and helpful nature, it was evident a career in care was perfect for her. At the age of 16, she became a care assistant and went on to gain her NVQ Level 2 and 3. Before becoming a home manager she gained experience through roles such as a senior care assistant and a team leader. She is very proud that she has been able to help her team deliver the best care possible. A family-minded individual, Lesley spends her spare time swimming, going to family events and getting lost in a good book. Words of encouragement from Lesley for someone looking for the right home would be: “Ask yourself, is there a friendly atmosphere? Is it nice and bright? Are there lots of activities? If yes, this is good.”
