Overall Experience
I found Broomcroft to offer a good standard of care in a happy environment, although there were inevitably delays in receiving assistance at busy times, eg getting up.
My deafness meant that I could not participate in quizzes but visits from local school children, ukulele band, pet handling, proffesionally led exercise sessions and church services were good to join in.
Staff kept the premises safe, bright and very clean & my laundry was always done promptly and with a smile.
I enjoyed sitting chatting or reading in the beautiful, shady garden & joining in activities like sing-songs there.

It was good to be able to welcome family members to lunch, although communication between office & kitchen was sometimes poor. I am very grateful to Broomcroft for providing my lengthy respite care, which enabled my husband to recover well from his hip replacement.

My wife has been in Broomcroft House for 3 years and at all times has been cared for with dignity. The staff have all been caring with no job for patients to small. There has always been a good bond between them at all times.

It has been a pleasure to talk to carers at all times.

Staff are very good at contacting me if there are any concerns about my mother. Staff show respectful care and take my suggestions about how to personalise this. My mother enjoys the varied menu, especially the three-course lunches. The management are showing that they want to listen to residents & relatives to give the best possible experience.

We moved our parents to Broomcroft in Jun 2025.The home is in a nice setting, surrounded by trees, with lovely garden and outside space. Its a really pleasant home to visit. Inside, the environment is clean, well organised and maintained. Style is contemporary, but homely, with designated spaces for clinical activity. Rooms are lovely with good quality furnishings, bed linen etc. Food always smells good, and can be eaten in the dining room or residents own room. Activities/entertainment are provided on a daily basis, and TV/Radio in communal areas is chosen to reflect resident age/interests.

Supporting our parents to leave their beloved home and move them into permanent care has been a long and harrowing journey for us. However, finding Broomcroft has felt a safe harbour in our emotional storm. Staff have been welcoming, professional and caring. They have been really understanding and taken time to get to know our parents, and us as a family, which we are most grateful for. Thankyou.

Overall Experience

Welcomed by caring professional staff. A little overwhelmed by all the different staff coloured uniforms and grades which I had not worked out by the end of my one week respite stay. Unable to go outside in my wheelchair which was unfortunate because of the time of year and the replacement of windows. Nothing was too much trouble for staff and enjoyable food was served regularly either in the dining room or your own room whichever you chose. Good to go home but would be happy to return for respite care if required in the future.

This was my husband's second respite visit to Broomcroft. Once again he settled well, has been very well cared for. He was disappointed the weather was not as warm as his visit in the summer as he loves the outdoor facilities!
He said the food was good but portions too big - overfacing him.
His room was smaller than previously which meant no room for a spare chair for visitors but that is only a minor grumble - otherwise very good.

I have felt completely relaxed whilst he has been in care.

My mum has settled into life at Broomcroft. She has enjoyed being outside during the hot weather, especially the ice creams! The outdoor space has also provided a good place to entertain visitors. Mum has enjoyed the food, a wide variety. The activities have been appropriate and good to participate in. The VE Day celebrations were a highlight. The staff could not have done more to give the residents a fun day.

My husband has just had his second respite stay at Broomcroft House Care Home. He was extremely well looked after - all staff are unfailingly positive, caring and efficient.
The good and plentiful food and interesting activities (especially the singing group) all helped time to pass pleasantly.

Always greeted by friendly and helpful staff who all seem very caring and generous with their time in caring for my mother. She has been a resident for approximately six years and seen many staff come and go but the care has been consistent throughout. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend Broomcroft House Care Home, it is, by far, an excellent nursing home.

On the evening/early morning of 14th/15th June, my brother managed to get out of bed and walk with his frame into the corridor - this is unheard of as he is unable to walk more than a step or two. He fell and banged his head. I was called at 2.15 am and on attending the home, found him in very capable and caring hands. Everything had been done in terms of his care and an ambulance had been called. The Broomcroft House Care Home team could not have done more for them. Fortunately, no long-term damage.

As a respite resident, this is my fourth stay. I think 'fourth' explains what I think of Broomcroft House Care Home and all its staff. The carers (all the staff) are committed to looking after all the residents and will help them in any way they can, 24 hours a day. My room was more than adequate in size with plenty of storage and a nice, comfortable bed which is adjustable like a hospital bed. The food was excellent and the dining room is clean and very spacious, perfect for wheelchair users, in fact, all the care home is kept clean and tidy. I would have no problem in recommending Broomcroft to anyone for respite or long-term stays.

I have been at Bupa for 6 years. I originally came to work in the care sector in 2012, where I first worked in care in the community. I love helping people and caring for those most vulnerable in our society. I feel it is my chance to give back to those who have gone through so much in order for us to have the lives we have now.

In my spare time, I love taking long walks with my dog and spending time with friends and family. I enjoy travelling and visiting new places.

I’m Melissa and I've worked at Broomcroft House since 2014 - as a care assistant for four years, before becoming the Receptionist/Administrative Assistant six years ago.

I did a teaching degree at the University in Wales to teach Special Educational Needs (SEN). I started doing care in the community and found that care was what I wanted to do as a career. I did care in the community until 2014 in Wales and then moved home to Sheffield and decided that I’d like to work in a care home setting. I changed roles in 2018 for a new challenge as expanding my knowledge base is important to me. I love it!

I live in Sheffield; my family and I are from the local area. I have been married for nearly five years and spend my free time with my husband and those closest to me making memories.

I am passionate about singing and am often found on the Karaoke however I also like quiet nights in with a film and popcorn.

I live about 7 miles away from Broomcroft House, with my husband and our 18-year-old son. In my spare time, my husband and I enjoy travelling to different breweries and real ale festivals. Our family are all keen Sheffield United supporters and love going to the home & away matches as season ticket holders.
