The Laurels and Limes Care Home is a beautiful home situated in 3 acres of parkland close to the Sheffield suburb of Broomhill. Separated into two homes, one boasting the ambiance of old world charm and the other a purpose built, yet sophisticated home.

Carers offer residents and their families the support they need during what many find some of the most trying times of their lives. Families & advocates are truly grateful for the personal support they receive, when faced with one of life's very difficult decisions and pride themselves on continuing that support to residents and their families from the moment they contact throughout the whole of their stay and beyond.

The approach to care is simple - look after the person and not the ailment/condition alone - professionals want to get to know their residents and their families, thus enabling them to look after the whole person and not just to concentrate on the task in hand. Carers get to know their clients, who they are, who they were and how they have come to be at the home.

Carers get to know families too and like to understand the dynamics within the family setting and how best they can support these as they build a relationship of trust. I have visited the home more than 20 times during the past month. I find the staff very polite and friendly, parking at the home is very convenient, I find the cafe is a good idea but have not sampled it as I visit most nights to see my friend. All in all very satisfied with this place.

During Mum's stay for respite the carers made every effort to make my mum feel at home. All the staff are very friendly and caring. Mum settled in straight away. The food is very good and The Limes itself is situated within its own grounds with lovely gardens! Would highly recommend this care home.
The staff at The Limes Care Home do a really good job of looking after their residents.

My nanna is very settled here. She really likes the food! They were excellent with her when she recently banged her face and went to hospital. They always keep me informed /updated, especially about her medical treatment. The staff really care. The staff have also got to know me and my three kids. They
are helpful and have facilitated nanna sitting outside with us when it is warm and coming to visit my house. I think it's a nice atmosphere here.

Mum's really happy and I know sometimes she can be difficult but the staff seem able to look after her well. I think the facilities are clean and light. I did not want her to be in a dark dismal place. I have just been told that the new management is good, I cannot comment because I have not met them
yet, and hence my score is satisfactory. I just feel that my mum is in a safe place. She enjoyed her trip to the sea it was very good that you took her she always loved the sea. I also feel very welcome when I visit.

My mum went to The Laurels and The Limes Care Home on 19th May 2023. She was end of life/palliative care. She was on the nursing floor of The Limes. Mum was well cared for by all the staff. The nursing staff were all lovely to Mum. The carers were excellent. We visited Mum daily so that we could help
feed her. Nursing care isn’t 1 to 1 care and sometimes you need to manage expectations. Staff work really hard here to make sure residents are all cared for.
When we visited other residents always looked well cared for and different things happening. Thank you also to the new manager for your help and support.
Thank you everyone for making Mum's final days comfortable. You all do an amazing job.

After being in hospital and an interim care home since February Mum moved into The Limes in May. Every member of the staff we met were helpful, caring and compassionate with the people they were caring for, nothing was too much trouble. They cared for my Mum in the later stages of her life and were
respectful and caring with the utmost dignity. Thank goodness we found this wonderful haven for my Mum in the last few months of her life.

Mom has been here at the home for over three years, although she can’t tell us she seems so happy and the staff are amazing with her.
She loves to sing and they always take the time to sit with her hold her hand and sing with her. She has just had the best Sunday lunch outside, big shout out to the
chef it was delicious, Mom ate it all.
And a big thank you to all the staff who always take the time to chat with me when visiting I know she is in safe hands and don’t get as upset now leaving.

I would highly recommend The Laurels and The Limes Care Home. My mum is in residence here, the rooms are immaculate and the dining area and TV lounge are just like being at home. The staff are excellent and are always helpful. The people in residence are well looked after. The staff are fabulous and

Dad has been here nearly one year now! Most of the time he is happy (so am I) but is partially sighted and deaf. This creates problems with all sorts of things. If we ourselves try and live a day with what Dad faces we would realise the difficulties that can arise for him and the staff. He doesn't like
to cause too much fuss but he does like things right. He has had things right most of his life so to live in a strange environment now at this time of life is very hard to adjust to.

Staff were friendly, caring and attentive to Dad's needs. During Covid was tricky, but I think they managed it well with family visits and keeping residents safe.
Dad was treated with dignity and respect.
Staff were lovely with my dad, but also great when Mum and myself came to visit.
The monthly
zoom meetings for loved ones were a great idea during Covid times to relay information and for us to raise questions/listen to other questions.

In line with your caveat, this is not a complaint. In my view, Hill Care/The Limes is in serious need of some good senior management. The carers and on-site staff are very friendly and look after mum with warmth and generosity of spirit. But they are running on empty all the time. Understaffing is evident
and relying on carers 'going the extra mile' is fine until they've had enough and leave. Leadership is not proactive and there seems to be no back up plan for problems (lift not working for weeks, meant residents had to be helped up and down stairs - more work for carers, not managers) or staff absences. Carers are promoted to admin/junior management roles without adequate skills or support so they go from being good at the job they know, to having responsibility for staff and systems they have not trained for. Every time I visit my mum I leave thinking, they need some proper management in this place. Ticking legally required boxes is not management, it's compliance. For what we pay, I expect better.

We would like to assure you that we take all feedback very seriously. We did have to operate without a lift for a five day period when planned maintenance to install a new electrical system took place. We were able to minimise disruption and are very proud of the way our staff responded to these additional challenges for this short time.

All staff gave our mother excellent care for the last 18-months until she died in July. They were more kind and caring. The communication between the family and the home was very good.

This home is clean, well-run and caring.
The provisions put in place during the recent pandemic have been exemplary.
Our Mother suffers from dementia and is well cared for.

Could not recommend it highly enough. Mum has been in the Laurels over 2-years now, really settled. Small home, ten upstairs and ten rooms down, nice rooms, providing privacy and dignity, spacious and good communal dining room/lounge lots of room.
Always someone on hand to help, manager very attentive
and responds to questions quickly.
Been excellent during this last 8-months - safety first in relation to residents, and have adapted well to communications, video meetings, chats and weekly comms.
