When my husband died, not one person came to his funeral, this was very bad and was noticed by one or two people as this was his home for 18 months. Staff were like family to him. The manager and care worker should have attended. It's the first funeral I've been to where no one has attended from a care
home.

An excellent care home, clean and good food. Staff go out of their way to make residents comfortable and are very obliging with requests.
They make visitors feel very welcome and were very caring when my mother passed away in their care.
I would recommend it to anyone.

My father was in the home for just over six months. Myself, my daughter and my niece were very impressed with the overall care given to my father. All his needs were taken care off and we were always kept informed when needed.

Palliative care was patiently given. A special cake with candles was baked for his birthday. Although sadly, he couldn't eat it, it was a very nice gesture to mark the occasion.

Excellent care staff and nurses, my father being terminally ill, was transferred from the hospice and needed full-time care and support having a syringe driver in place and very weak and could not eat or drink unaided. The home is of a very high standard and the food is freshly cooked and some homegrown.
The staff are lovely and treat my father with respect and humility we are very grateful for this as he is unable to go home. I may add, this home is very clean and has some very good facilities.

On 1st August, my wife, presently a resident in Astley Grange Nursing Home, was taken on a visit to the animal park. Invited to accompany her, I was initially apprehensive because of my anxiety regarding the care she would receive but I decided to participate.
This delighted me because I witnessed
immaculate care from the 3 members of staff that accompanied the participants from start to finish, who ensured that they were supervised from start to finish of the expedition, which proved to be a happy and successful excursion. The staff are deserving of congratulations and gratitude.

My mother thoroughly enjoyed her four week stay at the home. She was treated well, with great kindness and understanding. She got on well with the majority of the staff with only one person that she felt intimidated with (this situation was addressed).
Overall I am extremely happy with her experience.

Just wanted to say a massive heartfelt thank you for the care you gave to my mum

Everyone involved always showed compassion, encouragement and understanding and her dignity was always maintained. It was a lovely environment for my mum to spend her last few months. Knowing she was safe and being

so well cared for was such a relief. There are some happy memories for us from her stay.

Thank you again for all you care and commitment.

My Uncle was here for a week of respite care. He was treated with dignity and respect and enjoyed his time immensely. Astley Grange is bright and clean with a really friendly atmosphere. Nothing is too much trouble for the cares. He was able to sit out in the garden and really enjoyed his meal times.
My Uncle reported how obliging everyone was.

Mum was a patient for a couple of months before her death. I am very grateful for the care given to mum.
The staff were so important. They were caring and encouraging and tried to get her to keep drinking and eating. They also had time to chat and be friendly which was very important.
The food was
good and thoughtful ion content, though maybe too much on the plate - a little daunting to small eaters.

Current Review Score: 8.5 (8.479)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 8.5 (8.479) out of 10 for Astley Grange Nursing Home is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.6 out of 5 from 4 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 3.9 out of 5 from 4 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.604 for Astley Grange Nursing Home is calculated as follows: ( (33 Excellents x 5) + (11 Goods x 4) + (4 Satisfactorys x 3) ) ÷ 48 Ratings = 4.604
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 3.875 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Astley Grange Nursing Home is based on 4 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 20 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews, 0.05 Points for the next five Positive Reviews, and finally 0.025 Points for the next ten Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.050, 7th = 0.050, 8th = 0.050, 9th = 0.050, 10th = 0.050, 11th = 0.025, 12th = 0.025, 13th = 0.025, 14th = 0.025, 15th = 0.025, 16th = 0.025, 17th = 0.025, 18th = 0.025, 19th = 0.025, 20th = 0.025) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 = 3.375
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 40 registered maximum number of service users is 8. 4 Positive Reviews ÷ 8 = 0.5
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
