Mum was a patient for a couple of months before her death. I am very grateful for the care given to mum.
The staff were so important. They were caring and encouraging and tried to get her to keep drinking and eating. They also had time to chat and be friendly which was very important.

The food was good and thoughtful ion content, though maybe too much on the plate - a little daunting to small eaters.

The staff are extremely helpful, friendly and caring. Everything appears to run smoothly. I'm surprised but impressed by the number of different vegetables supplied with lunch. Something different will always be supplied if patients don't fancy what is on the menu, always a choice for every meal. Pleasant area for sitting out, watching the squirrels in the trees.

I think the care provided is exceptional. From what I have seen so far. All the residents seem to be well cared for and clean. If I ever need a care home I would come here.

When we first came into the care home it was a very calm and relaxed feeling. All the staff are excellent. Nothing is ever too much trouble for them. Their care for the patients is excellent, nothing is ever too much trouble. If I ever need a care home I hope I will be able to come here. I would definitely recommend this one.

Mum has only been in a fortnight and has settled well. Carers and senior carers are very good at their jobs. Mum's always clean and tidy and has her hair done every week. Would prefer to have mum showered twice a week as at the moment she only has one.

Bedrooms are clean - no smells - would be good if had their own en-suite. Happy overall.

Could not ask for better staff, the care they have given to my mum has been 100%. We have been informed of everything that they have done and what medication she has been given and how it works. Thanks so much to the excellent staff.

My mum came to Astley Grange for respite care. She received the utmost care and attention, the staff were caring, considerate and informative and most of all, compassionate. From mum's beginning to end of life.

My respect goes out to all staff who cared for my mum, especially one lady who went out of her way to care for my mother even on her day off she came to visit her. The staff need commending, they are stars.

My mother came into Astley Grange Nursing Home for some respite care. Her illness led to a complete failure in her health and the need for palliative care.

She is receiving a high degree of care with all staff giving their all. I am extremely grateful to the whole team for their care and dedication to my mother. I cannot praise them highly enough.

Overall Experience

My mother was a resident for the final five months of her life at Astley Grange, having been discharged from hospital and being in need of nursing care as she was essentially confined to bed. Throughout, all of the staff were utterly professional but also genuinely caring and friendly folk. They were personally sad when she died, having built up various relationships with her over the months of her residency. Moreover, all of the staff took a genuine interest in those of us who visited regularly or occasionally. I was impressed by the flexibility shown in managing the difficult needs of my mother over time and the helpful and candid conversations I was able to have with the nursing staff concerning her health and well being. Given the pressures under which staff necessarily have to operate and the demands upon them, they seemed to me to retain both an exemplary humanity and high standards of professionalism at all times. I am grateful to them all and I know that my mother was too.

Overall care is very good. My mum has settled in very well and seems happy and content. She is happy to sit in her own room and watch TV but will interact when she feels like it.

My mother was resident at Astley Grange after discharge from the hospital in the knowledge that she may have had only a short time to live. We visited several nursing homes in the area and found Astley Grange to be of a significantly higher standard than all others. Mum spent the last few weeks of her life here and was very well looked after and received excellent care and compassion during that time. All the staff were very caring and professional helping mum and her family got through this very difficult time. I would have no hesitation in recommending Astley Grange to others in a similar position to myself and my family.

My mother was transferred to Astley Grange after 8 weeks' traumatic stay in hospital. On arrival, she immediately improved. An excellent relationship was quickly built with the caring and compassionate staff. The atmosphere in the Grange was warm, friendly and relaxed, and not only was my mother cared for, but we, her children and friends, were made most welcome. I cannot praise the staff enough.

On my first visit, I was greeted in a friendly manner, I was then escorted to my friend's room where seats were found and drinks were offered almost immediately. The room is bright and cheerful with trees, birds and squirrels outside in a lovely sunny position. The residents comfort is uppermost. Staff are very friendly and are always on call if needed. I willingly visit once or twice each week. Hoping my friend gets stronger and sleeps better as time goes by. Thank you.

Overall Experience

When the hospital told us we had to find a nursing home for Mum we were devastated! The hospital gave us a list of nursing homes who could offer the help Mum needed and had a vacancy and so the search started. We had been told how important the CQC was and my goodness did it help. We rang Astley Grange who invited us down and what a joy. It was clean & fresh, the staff were singing as they worked and the patients joined in; the whole ambience of the place was great. Following an assessment, Mum was 'delivered' a few days later and we got her settled in with lots of personal stuff around her. Some of the nurses came to introduce themselves which felt really welcoming. I felt confident leaving her overnight but the home rang at 4:45 am to say Mum had been taken to A&E and we lost her 48 hours later. The home was fantastic and although it was a very brief experience, I would highly recommend this facility. They were welcoming, flexible, accommodating and very caring to Mum.

My father has been in Astley Grange Nursing Home for 2 months and is receiving excellent care. I have found all the staff to be efficient and caring. However, it takes a special person to deal with my father, due to his short term memory and temperaments. We are very lucky to have his nurse. She is compassionate and really understands my father and knows exactly how to deal with him and talk to him and especially with things like being able to persuade him to have a shave when he refuses. Overall, very happy.
