Mum receives very good care. Some of the carers go the extra mile to help; this is very commendable when on occasion the unit is obviously short staffed.

The activities coordinator is very good and there is a good weekly timetable of activities. Appointments with a professional e.g dentist/continence nurse are not always passed on and mum misses that appointment. Overall, however, Colton Lodges is a very good care home.

My mother has been in Colton since January/February 2018 and my father since January/February 2019. They have both always received an excellent standard of care. All the staff are a credit to the care profession. They treat the residents like members of the family and are always willing to put themselves out and go the extra mile. They are not just doing their hours and filling in time. They truly care about the service they give.

My father has been at Colton Lodges Care Home for a couple of years. He recently passed away at the care home. He suffered from Alzheimer's dementia. During his time in the home, his care has been very good both personal and medical. He was always clean and tidy, he would eat good portions. The staff were friendly and understood my dad's needs. He was treated with dignity and in his last days was made very comfortable.

My Dad came to live at Colton in August this year. The facilities that he has needed to access have been excellent. The staff go above and beyond not only for my Dad but all my family. I can not thank the staff enough. They are committed to the needs of all the residents, and they know them so well. They do an amazing job. Thank you so much Colton.

I received good care when I was unwell during the night. There is a shortage of staff and they are underpaid.

The nursing staff work very hard, often short staffed e.g. carers. The cleaner staff work very hard. The laundry staff also work hard and are very helpful girls. The admin ladies are so very helpful ladies, will always help me out when I have needed it. In fact form the gardener, maintenance man. They are a good crowd. Whitkirk House is well run. The nursing manager is very good. She has her eye on everything. In fact, all the nurses, they all do their job 100%. Well done to everyone, they all have a hard job to do.

In the four weeks, my husband has been here, he has settled very well. Nothing is too much trouble for all the staff who care for him. All areas are clean and comfortable for residents and relatives are treated very well whatever time of day. My husband knows he is very fortunate to be cared for in such a good home. I am so grateful we got a place in this home.

After looking at numerous care homes Colton Lodges took in my brother and it was the happiest he had been in such a long time. The care that was provided to him was wonderful, they were kind and caring all the time.

He also liked them and as a family, we were totally thrilled. I would recommend Colton Lodges to everyone.

I can give full marks to staff who work very hard even though there aren't enough of them. The care staff are wonderful but it's very hard when some residents need two people to help them. The rooms could do with updating and hearing residents and families. The food isn't so good. They don't need big pieces of chicken or a chop on a plate all it takes is to cut them into a couple of pieces so they can manage to eat it. Rooms are clean and the staff do their best to keep people happy.

We are constantly reviewing staffing in the home to ensure staff numbers are in line with resident dependencies. Rooms are redecorated as required and food service is a big part of our day. During our mother's stay in the nursing unit, she received first class care. Professional, respectful, sensitive, caring and friendly, are all descriptive of the level of care she received. We never had any worries about her well-being during her time there.

My sister has been a resident for 5 and a half years.
At all times with the odd exception, her needs have been dealt with. Concerns have been there, I have had a sympathetic response and management have endeavoured to correct them.

All in all, I have found things generally satisfactory.

The staff and carers are exceptionally dedicated people who have consistently helped and cared for my mum. The facility is well kept, clean, bright and airy, and being all single storey, all residents can see outside with grassed areas, trees and gardens all around. Meals are basic but appetizing with ample portions and choices of menu items offered, which I know is not always the case in other homes. In summary, I am glad we found Colton Lodges to look after Mum.

I cannot praise the nurses and carers highly enough for the wonderful care my mother received in Whitkirk House at Colton Lodges. She was always shown great respect, kindness and affection and I felt she was safe and among friends. The staff also showed great kindness to me, particularly during my mother's final days and it was a comfort to feel how loved she was. Thank you so much!

Staff very friendly and polite but overstretched. Not enough carers for the volume of residents.
Good variation of meals/food but hot meals sometimes barely warm.
Generally room clean and tidy but there have been occasions where I've had to pick things up, tissues etc.

Residents room looking tired, a fresh coat of paint needed.
