My father-in-law has been a resident since January 2017.
I have seen large improvements in both the condition of the home (which was not bad). The care he gets is 1st class. Anything you inform them about is dealt with straight away and nothing is too much for them.
Will cater for your likes on food.

My father has been in this home since the beginning of the year. Since he has been there, he has become much happier. The staff are always there for him. We at home are much more relaxed knowing he is being well cared for. The home is very friendly, helpful and caring staff. My father sees the staff
more as friends. He enjoys being able to join in all the activities they have and never feels lovely. Thank you, everyone, at Earls Lodge. He loves going into the gardens.

The care of our relative has dramatically improved since the upheaval, which recently took place. The staff levels, cleanliness of the rooms and the general slackness of the running of the home.
It was apparent that many residents were being left in their rooms for long periods due to low staff levels
or staff could not bother to attend when required.
Also at a recent relative meeting, several points were brought up and I'm pleased to say most of these have been addressed/on going.

The home is excellent and the care given to our father was exceptional. Our father was in the home from March until May 1st. The professionalism and humour in the environment of the home is a testament to the training and all the persons working there. The end of life care is second to none as we experienced
on the 1st May. Not only was the care of our father exceptional, their care and attention to our mother and to us were great.

The manager is very hands on and very approachable as I have found all the staff to be. They have occasional day outings for residents, in-house hair salon, tea and coffee room for residents. A warm and peaceful atmosphere. Overall I am very satisfied with this choice of care home for my mum.

A lovely welcome was received from all the staff when I visited Earls Lodge. The staff were caring and understanding of my friend's needs and the way she wanted to be cared for and they did it exactly right. She was always treated with dignity, respect and loving care, exactly what was needed at a difficult
time of her life.
Earls Lodge staff are a very conscientious team, led by a very understanding manager who values his staff very highly and as a result, they give their best to care for the residents.
I would have no hesitation in recommending Earls Lodge to anyone who needs nursing care for their loved one.

My relative needed end of life palliative care and Earls Lodge Care Home provided all the care she needed. Before she died my relative sad how happy she was with the home and said it was lovely. That was very reassuring and so good to hear at such a difficult time. The manager was very helpful and supported
us throughout. I am so pleased we chose Earls Lodge.

My dad came into this home in November. Unfortunately, he was only in here for just short of 2 weeks. The care that was provided for him was excellent all the nurses, management and coordinators were very friendly too. I would recommend this home to anyone.

We were very happy with the care they gave our father. He loved it there and was always happy to go back after a trip out.

During his last months, they cared and looked after him to make sure he was comfortable.

Mum moved to Earls Lodge in October 2007. A life changing holiday accident left her in need of nursing care. My late father and I visited other homes in the Wakefield area. We were warmly greeted at Earls Lodge. Mum has found true care from excellent staff and is happy and content to be a resident.
New management has continued to improve on facilities in the last year.

My mother settled in straight away eight weeks ago. She finds the food and staff very good. She was given baths which were not done whilst in hospital or at a remedial home. The staff and management are always helpful on hand when needed, both for my mother as the user and myself and family.

My mum was a resident for only a short time during the darkest times of her dementia-suffering, but the dignity, care and attention shown to her by all the staff was quite simply excellent. Living myself over 200 miles away, to know that mum was safe, looked after and provided for by the wonderful staff,
allowed me to feel so very grateful for this support, just when I and mum needed it most. Mum lived at '15 Memory Lane' (such a nice personal touch) in the care home and then retired finally one sunny day in August 2016. I cannot thank or praise the kind folks at Earls Lodge enough!

I am very pleased to be able to report a high standard of care at Earls Lodge and especially the commitment of the staff...any request for assistance was always promptly dealt with. Unfortunately, my appetite was virtually none existent during the stay and I am unable to comment on the quality of the
food. Likewise, as my 2-week stay was funded by the local authority, I cannot comment on value for money. Also, I stayed in my room the whole time (my choice) so cannot comment on any activities. Overall I was extremely satisfied.

Current Review Score: 9.7 (9.691)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.7 (9.691) out of 10 for Earls Lodge Care Home is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.7 out of 5 from 29 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 5.0 out of 5 from 29 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.691 for Earls Lodge Care Home is calculated as follows: ( (244 Excellents x 5) + (92 Goods x 4) + (7 Satisfactorys x 3) ) ÷ 343 Ratings = 4.691
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 5 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Earls Lodge Care Home is based on 29 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 20 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews, 0.05 Points for the next five Positive Reviews, and finally 0.025 Points for the next ten Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.050, 7th = 0.050, 8th = 0.050, 9th = 0.050, 10th = 0.050, 11th = 0.025, 12th = 0.025, 13th = 0.025, 14th = 0.025, 15th = 0.025, 16th = 0.025, 17th = 0.025, 18th = 0.025, 19th = 0.025, 20th = 0.025) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 = 4
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 52 registered maximum number of service users is 10.4, which has been reached with 29 Positive reviews. Points = 1
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
