Mum needed 24-hour end of life care in 2019. We visited all the nursing homes within the area unannounced on a Saturday morning to try and get a feel for one that was right for mum. On arrival at Priory Gardens, a carer welcomed and chatted with us to see what we were looking for. She then took us for a tour of the home. First impressions were, very clean, tidy and most important, it didn't feel like a nursing home. Upstairs, lovely rooms, clean, the visitor's kitchen and restroom are spacious and comfortable with Tea and Coffee facilities. All the staff cared for mum and was made to feel at home like one of the family from day one. We had an issue with the food being served to mum and made an official complaint. This was dealt with promptly by the home manager and she resolved the issues we had. As mum approached the end of life, we cannot thank the staff enough for the care, love and compassion they showed her. We would highly recommend Priory Gardens.

I was very anxious when our Nan decided she wanted to go to a care home, especially as she had always expressed she would hate it and I have seen some that are not so great. We took her around a few and could tell immediately she liked it at Priory Gardens, we got a warm welcome and a cuppa, always a good start. She has been there for a year now. The staff are amazing. She has mixed dementia and is very prone to urine infections, but they know her so well, they see the smallest change and get her on antibiotics. Her room is lovely, looking out over the garden and trees. It is clean, and we have been allowed to make it her own sanctuary. She tells us the food is good, especially the cakes! We are always kept up to date with her plan of care, and if anything changes, this is reviewed. It has been a tough year not being able to visit her as normal, but we know she is in safe hands and that reassures us. She likes the staff, and they can have a banter which is important to her. Thank you!

The staff are most welcoming to visitors as is the building itself offering a clean and warm pleasant ambience. The range of activities are impressive. Foods offered to residents looks wholesome, tasty and varied. The staff appear to have a good rapport with the residents, in my opinion, are doing an excellent job to a very high standard. Overall I was very impressed.

Old people enjoy 'traditional' food (e.g. Roast beef and Yorkshire pudding) rather than things like pasta and other savoury food. Most have been brought up on a diet of meat and potato pie, stew and dumplings etc.

Mum went to Priory Gardens needing 24/7 care, after badly breaking her leg, which is in a brace, non-weight bearing. From the moment mum arrived, she felt at home, all the staff from the managers, carers, nursing to the chef are always smiling, friendly and very very caring. Holding residents hands and giving them cuddles are a daily occurrence and is lovely to see and means a lot to the residents. Mum's room has a nice garden view and like the rest of Priory Gardens, it is spotlessly clean. The equipment mum needs to move her, were all there and in place, special mattress, rotary stand etc. Mum is not a big eater, but the chefs delicious meals have tempted her and she is eating really well, she tells me his homemade Yorkshire puddings are like her own. There is regular entertainment from Bingo, Bollywood Dancers, Sing-a-longs and that's just in the last two weeks. I feel so lucky mum is in Priory Gardens because I know she is in a safe and very caring place, this is a really good feeling for family members to have. Many many thanks to everyone at Priory Gardens.

Being a relative of a new service user I have found the whole experience very helpful in settling my Dad into his new home. Staff have welcomed him and us all as one family, helped with any teething problems, have been happy to assist whenever we needed them. Dad has done more, moved more, enjoyed all activities that are set out to encourage the elderly to mix, which has made me very happy.

My experience of Priory Gardens has so far been very good. My grandad is happy so that makes me happy. The move here has been a massive change for him, especially moving out of his home of more than 60 years. As a family with toddlers, we are always made to feel welcome and not pressured to keep the kids quiet. Very happy so far.

Since my Mother in law has been in Priory Gardens we have seen a remarkable change in her, she has been a lot more settled and contented and there has been no aggression. The staff are very friendly and welcoming and have treated my mother in law with respect and care, nothing you ask is too much trouble and they put our minds at rest with any issues we have had. The dinners that they are served look and smell amazing and the dining room is set up beautifully and looks more like a little restaurant where all the residents come together to eat and socialise. They have activities on for the residents throughout the week run by a lovely lady. I would like to thanks all staff that have made a very difficult transition for us a lot easier it’s a pleasure to go and visit, a special mention to the senior management who helped us every step of the way it’s been very much appreciated.

My mother transferred to Priory Gardens back in October 2018, it was a very difficult time for me, it was made so much easier by the way senior management handled it. Very helpful and kept me informed of all the decisions made at the time. My mother has settled in extremely well and I have seen a big difference in her behaviour for the better, staff are always on hand, very helpful and friendly. They treat my mother brilliantly and with dignity which is very important, she eats well and the food served is fantastic, she has lots of opportunities to socialise with other residents and staff and there is also a variety of activities put on for them to do. Her room is homely and very well decorated, I can’t thank all the staff enough for the help and peace of mind I now have where my mother is concerned.

When my dad first went in, Priory Gardens Care Home was OK but it went downhill fast. Manager after manager was rubbish, it was dirty, smelt bad, stuff going missing.
But then we got a new lady manager who is here now. She has turned the place around. It's now lovely and clean, the place has got a lovely feel to it. All the staff are happy and caring. The place has a buzz to it.

A fantastic job done by the manager.
