At Saltshouse Haven, an extensively trained team of staff provide residential care, including care for adults diagnosed with dementia. Packages available include respite, convalescence and palliative provision.

This homely facility is equipped for modern care practice, having its own assisted bathrooms and shower rooms, and furniture to fit different levels of physical mobility. A light and airy conservatory is great for unwinding.

Meals can be taken in the dining room or in the privacy of residents’ own rooms, with mid-morning and afternoon treats also available, and personal tastes accounted for.

My Mum was in Saltshouse Haven for end of life care. The home itself and the staff there were amazing. My Mum was so well looked after, and the staff really cared for Mum. It's a lovely, friendly place, with lots of activities going on for the residents. I'm so pleased I chose this place for my Mum
to spend her last weeks.

Salthouse Haven was the best place to put Mum in her final months. The team showed nothing but care and dignity. The team were amazing in their care of Mum, and they went over and beyond with Mum, I can't thank you enough.

The carers in Preston Lodge at Salthouse Haven have been amazing looking after my grandma. She has been with the care home now for two years and the care has been outstanding, all the staff listen to any worries and concerns that we have about my grandma, will always ring us to keep us updated with
any new information regarding her care and health. I could not thank them enough for everything that they have done and are continuing to do for her.
During the lockdown, we have been able to have video calls with her and have been allowed to visit my grandma as she is now receiving end of life care. Thank you.

I just want to thank the carers at the home from the bottom of my heart, they looked after my mum for a short time from January to March. My mum was 91-years-old, sadly passing away in March. These ladies could not do enough for her. Her room kept clean; she was made very comfortable.
The home is welcoming
and the residents, whenever I visited, had smiles and looked well looked after.
My mum was in the lodge; a bit thank you, ladies!

Mum was passed from one building to another, they could not cope with her dementia. She could be difficult at times but this was due to her illness. They preferred if the resident just sat in a chair all day and was not challenging.
My mum had plenty of clothes but very rarely was actually in her own
clothes, several times I asked about her clothing.
Mum has now passed away, some of the staff were caring but when I went to collect mums belongings a male member of staff was packing mums clothes in the room, radio playing and him singing, this was a day later after mum passing. This was very disrespectful. Her ornaments, the few she had had been broken, her clothes thrown in a case, her watch was missing and her Chanel No 5 perfume. Also several coats and new bootie slippers that had been bought her at Christmas. Overall, very poor and I would not recommend anyone to put their parent into this home. Not enough staff that actually cared about the job, a few did.

My Mum was a resident in the dementia unit for 17 months. During this time we witnessed and dedication, compassion, caring, friendly manner the staff showed to each resident. My Mum was very happy during her stay. It is a place with high standards of cleanliness. I couldn't have wished for a better
home to take care of my Mum. The staff work extremely hard and are so kind and patient. They gave our family support at the end of Mum's life, making a traumatic time easier.

My mum was a resident Meaux House and all the time she was there the staff couldn't have been more helpful. They were always polite and willing to explain/answer any questions or queries we had. We always found my mum clean and tidy and in good health, she enjoyed chatting with other residents and made
a couple of close friends. From my mum leaving the hospital not eating or speaking she left Salthouse Haven eating 3 meals a day and speech improved. We would certainly recommend Salthouse Haven to family and friends.

My mam went in to Salthouse Haven in Bilton House in January 2018. The care my mam received was excellent. The staff were amazing. Sadly my mam ended up on palliative care and passed away in Salthouse Haven but the staff made her as comfortable as possible and I thank them.

Both the admin team and the care team were extremely helpful and caring from before my aunt took up residence. This friendly care continued until after my aunt sadly passed away. Very homely environment. Staff that really care.

When Bilton Lodge is fully staffed I.e. Four staff and a senior, it runs quite well with no problems. Occasionally one staff member is sent to replace absent staff on other lodges. When this happens the lounge area can be left unattended for 5 to 15 minutes, this can cause stress to patients in wheelchairs
or seated who cannot move away from an occasionally disruptive patient.

Thank you for your review; we value all feedback as this helps us to improve our service where required. The happiness and well-being of all our Residents are of paramount importance to us. Unfortunately, staff will call in ill occasionally at short notice which does not give the home adequate time to arrange for immediate cover. When this occurs we will look to utilise our existing staff in the home and use their skill mix accordingly to support all lodges whilst we seek cover. I appreciate this is not ideal but it does work well for immediate support until covering staff can come into the home.

Job Title: Registered Manager

Sara is a Registered Nurse by background and Saltshouse Haven Care Home Manager. As a Registered Nurse, Sara has gained a wealth of experience in providing care and nursing support to elderly people, to enrich their lives. She is a knowledgeable and dedicated leader who is passionate about delivering the highest standards in care and quality of life for Residents.


Sara is ultimately responsible for the effective and professional running of the care home, but will allocate time to discuss any aspect of our Residents' care or any problems they may be experiencing. She is keen to work closely and in partnership with our Residents, their relatives and significant others to benefit the Residents in her care. Sara is a dynamic team leader and has an ongoing interest in professional development and career progression.
