Mum urgently needed a care home bed as she was medically signed off for discharge after a short stay in hospital following a fall at home and an infection. She was deemed not capable of independent living or of making a responsible choice of action in the event of needing help, and in need of professional
care. I had heard good things about Eaton Court previously when I lived in Grimsby, checked up on their Care Quality Commission report, and asked them if they had a bed. The manager went to see mum in the hospital the very next day to assess her needs, and how they could help her and by 6.00 pm the same day she was admitted into her new home. On our last visit she was looking healthier than for a long time, was talking to other residents, eating better, and her hair and nails had been done. Staff are all so friendly and genuinely caring, and when we left she went into the lounge to join the quiz which was just starting. We really couldn't be happier.

Friendly staff and nothing is too much trouble. Highly delighted with the range of activities and weekly trip out on the minibus. Food is excellent and plentiful. The manager is very approachable and takes on board any comments. The care home is very clean, light and airy. Dad is very happy.

We spoke about the promised furniture and redecoration of dads room. I was advised initially you would swap furniture from another room as it was in your own admission better than the shoddy furniture in the room my dad occupied. The day after you advised, you had taken two further admissions and
therefore would not be moving any furniture. You stated that you would order dad some new furniture. Bedding on my dad's bed was stained after washing, there was no quilt cover and pillows were out of shape. On one occasion my dad was covered with a sheet which had tattered edging. You did offer to move my dad to another room and showed me two but then said it was not advisable to move him to the new room due to noise. Dad was very agitated and distressed. A syringe driver was in place but I had to ask for an increase in med's as I didn't want him to suffer pain and distress. I spoke to the Palliative Team as I was concerned about dad. I wish I had sought Hospice care now.

The care and attention given to our father was first class. We could not have asked for anymore. All staff were considerate and professional at all times, not only to our father but also to us when visiting.
A great team who all worked well as a team.

My husband has been a resident at Eaton Court since Feb 2017 unfortunately with his memory loss he is unable to comment about his care in the home.
I, on the other hand, stayed in the home since Christmas 2017 and for the following few weeks having had a hip replacement and whilst convalescing I was
treated at all times with kindness first-rate care and friendliness.
To all at Eaton Court, I owe my heartfelt thanks.

My mum has come to this Nursing Home for 'end of life care', since being here her life has improved, she is well hydrated, eating well and joins the other residents every other day as soon as she says she is uncomfortable, the carers move her straightaway. Because of the excellent care and devotion
form all staff its meant I can have a bit more time with mum.

Eaton Court was recommended to us. We knew as soon as we came through the door that this was the right place for mum. The care is excellent, the staff compassionate and helpful. Nothing is too much trouble. The room is lovely, fresh and clean and newly decorated, and very comfortable. We were lucky
to have mum here for her final days.

Mum had been in hospital for three months, followed by two weeks in our local hospice for respite care. We needed to find a nursing home quickly. Having viewed two care homes we visited Eaton Court. We were impressed with the cleanliness and there was no odour.
The manager was very informative and
friendly. Mum has settled in well and the staff seem very caring and willing to help in any situation.

From our first inspection to my wife arriving we have felt "at home" and valued. Nothing is too much to ask and the staff are excellent. Not only is the care for my wife fantastic but the care and concern around relatives is amazing. The atmosphere is upbeat in a sad situation but that's what makes
is so special. The room is clean and home from home. This definitely is a happy place. The staff work as a team which is great.

We dropped in by chance to take a look, from the beginning this place was impressive. It had a lovely happy, homely welcoming feeling. Mum looks so peaceful here and we feel relaxed here and when we are not able to visit we are confident she is looked after. The staff are absolutely amazing. What impresses
me the most is how happy they are and how they work as a team.
Our situation is a sad one but we feel mum is in the best place for her.

My mother has been in this home for about 18 months and during that time her care, on the whole, has been good. However, just recently I have found the manager to be quite lacking in knowledge of my mother's ways and a senior carer lacking in the ability to do her job correctly leading to other senior
carers having to pick up the pieces. Also in the last couple of weeks, one resident has managed to get out of the building twice not good when he is supposed to be watched 24/7.
Reply from Tracy Gibbett, Home Manager at Eaton Court Nursing HomeThank you for your overall good review of the care for your mother. Your mother is very settled in the home and the care delivery she receives is a high standard and always looks well presented. We take on board your feedback and hope that this has now been addressed when we spoke in person and would continue to encourage you to speak to me directly in the first instance should you have any queries. As a manager I take great pride in all aspects of care and furthermore support families/friends should they wish to address concerns or submit compliments.

All staff who take up new roles are supported and mentored to bring them up to the standards expected by the manager and the company. The incident you refer to was an isolated and contained situation and additional measures are in place with the individual. I thank you for your continued support of the home and I will continue to have an open door policy.

Current Review Score: 9.6 (9.553)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.6 (9.553) out of 10 for Eaton Court Nursing Home is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.6 out of 5 from 18 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 5.0 out of 5 from 18 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.603 for Eaton Court Nursing Home is calculated as follows: ( (145 Excellents x 5) + (55 Goods x 4) + (12 Satisfactorys x 3) + (2 Poors x 2) ) ÷ 214 Ratings = 4.603
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 4.95 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Eaton Court Nursing Home is based on 18 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 20 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews, 0.05 Points for the next five Positive Reviews, and finally 0.025 Points for the next ten Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.050, 7th = 0.050, 8th = 0.050, 9th = 0.050, 10th = 0.050, 11th = 0.025, 12th = 0.025, 13th = 0.025, 14th = 0.025, 15th = 0.025, 16th = 0.025, 17th = 0.025, 18th = 0.025, 19th = 0.025, 20th = 0.025) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 = 3.95
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 45 registered maximum number of service users is 9, which has been reached with 18 Positive reviews. Points = 1
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
