My aunty has lived here since 2020. She is thriving and seems to be very well cared for. The staff are all friendly and very caring. The management are kind and keeps me informed via telephone or email. My family and I are very happy with the care at Scorton Care Village.
Reply from Sharon Adjei, Ops/Clinical Director at Scorton Care VillageThank you for a wonderful review of Scorton Care Village. The staff team are our best asset as without their commitment to their role, we would not be able to state how much we value all staff and residents, who live here.

My Grandma recently passed away, I can't speak highly enough of all the staff that looked after her, I would definitely recommend this home, they have been fantastic 10/10. They took so much time to get to know my grandma and showed respect and dignity throughout her time there.

My husband has been in Scorton Care Village for about eight months now and in that time has been treated very well by all staff. This has made what could have been horrendous for us as a family a bearable time because his carers treat us very well too and it enables us to have precious family time together
in a pleasant atmosphere.
Reply from Sharon Adjei, Ops/Clinical Director at Scorton Care VillageYour comments are a credit to our whole staff team, who not only care for the people who choose to live with us but for their loved ones too. Thank you.

I can honestly say, I would highly recommend this beautiful nursing home. You are instantly welcomed into the family environment. The home truly demonstrates professionalism across all areas of service. They provide outstanding care, and most importantly, they are customer focused, putting our needs

My aunt has been at Elizabeth House for the last 11 month and she loves it! All the staff are so friendly and make my aunt feel at home by treating her with respect and adhering to her individual needs. She is so relaxed here and enjoys the activities she takes part in and all interactions with staff
- especially with the therapy dog.
As her family, I'm so pleased to see how settled, happy and content she is. The staff are brilliant, approachable, caring and are great at keeping me updated on any changes with my aunt. It's a weight off my mind knowing my aunt is safe, happy, well fed and has tea/coffee on tap!

My wife has been a resident of Elizabeth House for nearly 7 years and her care needs have changed over the years. The staff have been brilliant and fully understand her changing needs and I would have no problem recommending them to anyone. My wife's Dementia (FTD) is certainly quite advanced and the
staff are able to give me updates as and when they see changes which does put my mind at rest.

My mother has Alzheimer's Disease, which has progressed to a stage where she is unable to walk, is very sleepy and cannot carry out any day-to-day activities or do anything for herself. I usually visit twice a week, and when I visit, she now tends to communicate by nodding or shaking her head and has
her eyes closed. However, most of the time, she is asleep. I am unable to comment about activities in the home, it has been some time since activities were being done during a visit, but there are games etc, on shelves in the lounge, which I'm sure are used. Overall, I would say the care home is good, the staff are friendly and cheerful, and I feel this is a really important aspect of the care provided. I think Mum enjoys the food, she has a good appetite, and her weight appears to be stable. If Mum has any problem, I'm sure I would be contacted.
Reply from Sharon Adjei, Ops/Clinical Director at Scorton Care VillageThe staff and management of the home communicate with all relatives and ensure that any concerns are discussed. We take on board your suggestion about activities, and we are in the process of advertising for more activities staff to join our team. It can be very difficult to engage some of our residents to partake in events either in groups or individually, but staff try their best at all times. All personal files have activities documented when they have taken place/or not and monitored to ensure that all have the opportunity to engage socially.

Scorton Care Village was very supportive, kind and helpful in caring for my father-in-law. It was a difficult time for the family, especially my mother-in-law, and every time we visited, we were welcomed by all, kept updated on care regularly and treated so kindly. The care my late father-in-law received
was wonderful. He was always spotlessly clean and treated with empathy and dignity. They helped to make a difficult situation bearable - thank you.

Dad has been in Scorton since January 23. He has settled in very well, and the staff treat him with dignity and respect. The rooms are bright and airy, and personal possessions are allowed, which is important to him. The staff and admin are brilliant, and nothing is too much trouble for them. The home
and room are very clean at all times. The entrance is inviting, especially upstairs. The only thing I would say is a tea/coffee machine for the visitors would be good, although talking to admin, they said just ask in the ward if we can make a drink; we would be happy to pay.
Also, it would be nice if maybe once a week or fortnite, there could be a quick meeting with a nurse and carer to update us on Dad and how he is doing, what meds he is on if there is a change in him and if there is anything we can do to help him/them.
His personal care is also very good, and he is always clean-shaven and in clean clothing. Excellent overall.
Reply from Sharon Adjei, Ops/Clinical Director at Scorton Care VillageThank you for taking the time with your review. We encourage all residents to bring in personal possessions which can make their personal space special to them. We have taken on board your suggestion of providing a coffee/tea-making space for visitors to use when staff are unavailable to help with this hospitality. We hope that your Dad continues to enjoy living with us.

Lots of improvements taking place around the home, and there appear to be higher levels of staffing which is good too.
On my visits, my friends appear to be well looked after. He is, unfortunately, mostly confined to his bed nowadays, but says he is "ok" and does sleep a lot.
I have found the staff
always helpful, especially the ladies in the office, if I have any queries.
I feel confident that my friend is receiving good quality care and have no concerns at this moment in time.

Externally the home is adequately managed. The entrance is welcoming, as is the staff at reception. All the care and nursing staff are friendly and attentive. I feel that my brother is receiving good care at this home. Only occasionally, I have had to draw the attention of the staff to minor aspects
of personal care, such as fingernails and hair. He appears to be happy and comfortable.

I would like to write a belated review to thank Scorton Care Village and the Archery Bower House for the care my late mum received during her 2 years and 8 months there. She spoke with a great deal of affection about many of the staff. Her room was large and bright and had a lovely view of fields, trees
and birds which she loved to watch. She was very well cared for and considered several of the staff her friends.

I would belatedly post this review in relation to my mother's time in the Archery Bower House in Scorton Care Home.
She was a resident in Scorton for two years and eight months until she passed away, and during that time, we found the facilities and the staff to be excellent.
She had a lovely room,
was generally happy with the food and only spoke well of all the staff.
From a family member's perspective, it was a comfort for us that she was content and well looked after, and I found the staff to be excellent, very friendly and approachable.

The staff have been so kind and helpful with my parents, showing much respect to them, and always giving them the time to talk. They have been very helpful to myself and my brother, listening to our concerns and dealing as appropriate. My only criticism would be that not enough info is given at the
beginning of the residency, i.e. money for things and naming clothes, but these are minor issues so easily fixable.

Dad came to you in 2018 in an emergency when Mum was rushed to hospital. Two months later, Mum came out of the hospital and stayed with Dad in a double room for her recuperation. We made the difficult decision about their futures. Dad remained at Scorton Care Village, and Mum returned home. Dad’s dementia
continued to deteriorate, and sadly he died this year.
We would like to say a big thank you to all of the staff of Scorton Care Village for the wonderful care you gave Dad during his stay. The commitment you show to your residents is truly outstanding and is much appreciated by all of the family.
Also, we would like to thank you for the care you have given to us as a family. This ranges from a cup of tea and a chat when we visited, sending photos of Dad on Christmas Day (when we couldn’t visit due to Covid), allowing us all, children and grandchildren, to sit around a table to celebrate his birthday, baking him a birthday cake and giving Mum flowers on their 39th Wedding Anniversary.

My mother was very unhappy here for many many reasons. Luckily as she was of sound mind was able to discharge herself. The terms and conditions of leaving a review stop me from saying what I'd like to say. Sadly my mother has now passed away aged 64 so I will leave it to the imagination but I certainly
can't leave a good review.
Reply from Sharon Adjei, Nominated Individual at Scorton Care VillageThe team would like to pass on our sincere condolences for your loss.

We are sorry to hear that you feel compelled to write a negative review following the support we feel was given. As always we understand the sadness when someone comes into our service when relatives feel this is not to their liking. On this occasion, we had a different aspect of the care, support, dignity and respect provided not only by the staff here but also by the external people who were part of this support from the receiver of the care. All staff worked tirelessly to ensure that a discharge to home was able to happen for the benefit of the resident/family.

Current Review Score: 9.7 (9.655)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.7 (9.655) out of 10 for Scorton Care Village is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.7 out of 5 from 43 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 5.0 out of 5 from 43 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.655 for Scorton Care Village is calculated as follows: ( (360 Excellents x 5) + (113 Goods x 4) + (21 Satisfactorys x 3) + (3 Poors x 2) + (2 Very Poors x 1) ) ÷ 499 Ratings = 4.655
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 5 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Scorton Care Village is based on 43 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 20 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews, 0.05 Points for the next five Positive Reviews, and finally 0.025 Points for the next ten Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.050, 7th = 0.050, 8th = 0.050, 9th = 0.050, 10th = 0.050, 11th = 0.025, 12th = 0.025, 13th = 0.025, 14th = 0.025, 15th = 0.025, 16th = 0.025, 17th = 0.025, 18th = 0.025, 19th = 0.025, 20th = 0.025) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 = 4
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 114 registered maximum number of service users is 22.8, which has been reached with 43 Positive reviews. Points = 1
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.

I moved to the UK after living in Italy, during which time I completed further education to a high standard, working in a senior role. My first role upon arriving here in the UK was as a Care Assistant at Scorton Care Village, North Yorkshire. This position gave me an insight into social care, and I quickly made many connections within the area on a personal and professional level. My existing skills, knowledge, and experience gave me the opportunity to advance my career by seeking more challenging roles, including Unit Manager and Deputy Manager, before assuming my current position as the Registered Home Manager. During the past few years, I have implemented many changes within the service, achieving an overall “Good” from CQC and raising the profile of the home.
