Scorton Care Village

Externally the home is adequately managed. The entrance is welcoming, as is the staff at reception. All the care and nursing staff are friendly and attentive. I feel that my brother is receiving good care at this home. Only occasionally, I have had to draw the attention of the staff to minor aspects of personal care, such as fingernails and hair. He appears to be happy and comfortable.

I would like to write a belated review to thank Scorton Care Village and the Archery Bower House for the care my late mum received during her 2 years and 8 months there. She spoke with a great deal of affection about many of the staff. Her room was large and bright and had a lovely view of fields, trees and birds which she loved to watch. She was very well cared for and considered several of the staff her friends.

From a family member's perspective, it was a comfort for us that she was content and well looked after, and I found the staff to be excellent, very friendly and approachable.

Dad has settled in really well. He seems very content and is well looked after. He is treated with dignity and respect. All the staff are very friendly and helpful. We are all made to feel very welcome and at home. Thank you to all staff.

My partner was in Elizabeth House for almost a year, five days short. The staff go above and beyond their duties. All staff are very friendly with a lovely, welcoming smile. Housekeeping keeps the facility spotless. My partner felt very comfortable there and called it his home. He passed away in August in Elizabeth House, and the dignity he was given goes beyond words. To the manager - you have fantastic staff - feel proud.

The staff have been so kind and helpful with my parents, showing much respect to them, and always giving them the time to talk. They have been very helpful to myself and my brother, listening to our concerns and dealing as appropriate. My only criticism would be that not enough info is given at the beginning of the residency, i.e. money for things and naming clothes, but these are minor issues so easily fixable.

A very well-run home with friendly and professional staff. Clean and spacious areas, but with a real homely atmosphere. High standards are obvious but with a lot of room for informality. Residents cared for but without constant interventions.

Also, we would like to thank you for the care you have given to us as a family. This ranges from a cup of tea and a chat when we visited, sending photos of Dad on Christmas Day (when we couldn’t visit due to Covid), allowing us all, children and grandchildren, to sit around a table to celebrate his birthday, baking him a birthday cake and giving Mum flowers on their 39th Wedding Anniversary.

My mother was very unhappy here for many many reasons. Luckily as she was of sound mind was able to discharge herself. The terms and conditions of leaving a review stop me from saying what I'd like to say. Sadly my mother has now passed away aged 64 so I will leave it to the imagination but I certainly can't leave a good review.

My dad has been at Scorton Care Village for over 5-years, and in that time, he has always had very good care and respect shown.

The first time I had the chance to visit my Mum, who has chronic mental health after restrictions were lifted, she told me how much happier she was than her previous home and how lovely the staff were and that their professional/considerate/compassionate support with daily activities helps her achieve a life quality that results in such increased overall positive mood. Given by nature my mum is a very sensitive, thoughtful and compassionate person together with the embellishment of such traits that typically come from the experience of chronic mental health; this is high praise indeed!

My mum has been in Scorton house for about 4-years. I can remember the day we had to come to terms with knowing we could not give my mum the full care she needed at home! The day we left my mum was the hardest of our lives! I cried and felt so much guilt, but I can honestly say with a hand on my heart that the care staff are outstanding, and they helped me every visit! They are actually like family! During Covid was awful, I did not get to see Mum for about a year, and it was soul-destroying, but the staff made the right call. A decision had to be made as Mum can not swallow, so foods had to be soft, she needs change all the time, but we make the decisions together. They love my mum so much, and I trust them with my heart, and as a daughter, that’s all I need, my mum to be safe, clean and content as much as she can be. They greet me with a smile no matter how hard their shift is. I personally would like to say thank you.

I am very impressed by the attention and kindness shown to my husband. The staff are friendly and welcoming, and the atmosphere is very homely. I have every faith in the level of care and know that he is in safe hands. Thank you all.

Very supportive staff who are very professional and have coped very well with him, and I would recommend them to anyone with a relation with advanced dementia.

Mum has been in Scorton Care Village for 3-months now. We were all very anxious when she moved in, thankfully, we were worried for nothing. I would recommend this home to everyone. The manager and staff are fantastic. We always feel so welcome when we visit. Covid19 has had such an impact on us all, the home follows guidelines, and we receive monthly updates by email, which is good. The best outcome is Mum has come on leaps and bounds since moving into Scorton Care Village; she has put on weight, become more confident and is the happiest I have seen her in months.

Good to be able to visit again. Mum has been well looked after during these difficult times, and I was always confident that she was been well looked after and supported. The grounds are looking really good this year, and it is a pleasure to sit out in the garden with her and talk about the plants.

Thank you to all the staff at Elizabeth House for their continued hard work. Keeping relatives informed and allowing us to visit as soon as we were allowed, with efficient testing and a warm welcome has been so appreciated. Supporting my Dad to have Zoom calls has kept him going during the pandemic, and his needs are met with very high standards of professional practice and kindness. I feel reassured that he's in such good hands.

The home is looking after my husband in a caring and efficient manner. His mobility and speech have improved since he became a resident, and his challenging behaviour is managed well. Although visiting is restricted because of Covid regulations, the staff make sure that my visits are pleasant for both me and my husband. His room is spotlessly clean and tidy. My daily phone call is answered in a very caring manner.

Just wanted to say a big thank you to all the staff for taking such good care of my husband at a difficult time and being so understanding regarding the circumstances. I came in yesterday, the staff were very friendly, and everywhere was very clean. The nurses have done a great job of keeping him on track with his medication.

Very friendly and welcoming staff. Visited my mother under Covid-19 restrictions, the testing was expertly carried out and the precautions in the home were excellent and well supervised. Staff were very understanding and available if we required any information on the visiting process. Mother is being very well cared for and she's very settled and content.
