Woodside

from A M (Daughter of Resident) published on 2 February 2026
Submitted via Website • Report
Overall Experience 2.0 out of 5
My mum was a resident at woodside for a couple of years. The care she received when she first arrived was great. Staff were kind and caring, manager was helpful, food was good, the room was small but adequate, but the toilet in the room was not usable. As time went on care deteriorated. My mum ended
up with bed sores, she had a broken arm which could not be explained, lots of male staff looking after personal care after i had requested this should stop. As a family we felt like we were not listened to. The only consistent at the home was the long term staff who always kept us informed.
Reply from Lucian Balog, Operations Manager at WoodsideThank you for your review. We are responding on behalf of the team at Woodside, who have consistently worked with professionalism and care to support your mother.

As your mother's needs changed, her care was regularly reviewed and the situation was appropriately reported, reviewed, and investigated by all relevant authorised healthcare professionals and organisations. These processes and outcomes were discussed openly at the time, and you confirmed that you were satisfied with how the matters were addressed.

Unfortunately, some deterioration can form part of the natural progression of complex health conditions despite appropriate care and intervention. Throughout this period, we worked transparently with you, explored all available options, and focused on maintaining your mother's comfort, dignity, and wellbeing.

My mum has been in this care home for 6 years with Dementia .
She has been on all 3 floors residential memory and now nursing .
The home has a great family feel to it .
There are constant improvements being made
Staff are kind and considerate.
And management has an open door policy which is brilliant
.
Any concerns I have ever had have been dealt with straight away .
There is an amazing entertainment team who have a variety of activities twice a day from bingo sing alongs coffee mornings play your cards right .
Every event is celebrated with a party.
I like the fact that all professionals come to the home even dentists which is a Service not offered in many homes .
The home allows you to treat your room as your own with decorating
The home is also decorated giving it a more homely feel instead of clinical .
I would recommend this home. I have been to others and they dont come near the care and management here or the cleanliness .they have been a great help to my mum and me .

My sister arrived at the home from the hospital. She had vascular dementia, was very difficult didnt eat, drink, take meds and fought off all staff. She was sent to home that was told by whips & hospital she was mobile and had no problem with food and drink, which was the opposite. The staff tried their
utmost to get food & drink down her with no joy. She was very difficult, but the staff were amazing, very patient, and kind & caring. My sister was sent to hospital and after spending 3 days/nights on a trolley was sent back to home with DVTS in her leg. The staff treated her with injections of bloodthinning meds, but unfortunately, she passed away. All the staff that dealt with my sister was also very supportive and kind to me and family.

My Mum has resided at Hill House for over a year now, and has recently been joined by my Dad.
The care they have shown both my parents is outstanding and cant be faulted.
They have been patient whilst my dad adjusts to being there and they have handled him extremely well.
The meals look lovely and
they have both said how much they enjoy them.
As my Mum and Dad are bed bound they are kept clean everyday multiple times per day and are treated with dignity and respect
Their rooms are a fair size and we have furnished so them so that they feel more at home.
the garden views are fantastic and well maintained and hopefully in the warmer months we can get them out into the fresh air.
There is so much for them to do but unfortunately are limited due to there ability to get out of bed, however the entertainment team do go in and visit for a chat or to do some painting with my Mum, they have even taken a little dog in to see her, which she loved.
I cant fault Hill house or staff 5*

Lovely warm entrance and environment. Reception staff always helpful. The care is exceptional and nothing is too much trouble, from finding a blanket that my mum likes to providing medical care. My mum is very happy, she enjoys the company and feels very safe. Carers are always visible and interact
with residents. There is a high standard of care at Barton Lodge. I feel very lucky that my mum is a member of their community.

Staff at the care home are caring, they treat my mother-in-law with respect. She enjoys the activities, espeically the baking, having nails done, and hair. The care home is clean, food is good. She is in safe hands, and she is looked after by all.
