My mum is a resident in Bluebell Home, she has increasingly worsening dementia and as a result is often hard to manage due to her changing behaviours. The staff have been absolutely amazing in keeping me informed regarding her changing care needs & provide regular updates when I visit. Her care needs
have increased due to her constant changes but the staff have been unbelievably loving, kind reassuring to her even when she is difficult and upset. I cannot say enough good things of the home, always trying to accomodate to Mums needs & those of the family

My wife, Carol, was admitted to Scorton Care Village at the beginning of May 2026 on the NHS fast track programme. From the outset, the nursing care she received was of an outstanding quality. All members of staff treated Carol with compassion and ensured her dignity was preserved.
I was given a great
deal of support, as were our children, during the weeks leading to her death on the morning of May 27th. I was able to witness the level of care at all times of the day and night, as the leadership provided a bed near Carol during her final few days.

My wife has dementia and has been a resident at Barton Lodge for the last 17 months. On the day that we arrived at Barton Lodge, we were met by the manager, and made very welcome as she showed us up to what would become my wifes room. We were told that we could bring pictures and ornaments from home
to help my wife settle in. The room was spotlessly clean and spacious with room for her wheelchair as she had a broken ankle at the time. All of the staff that we have met at Barton Lodge are very considerate and sympathetic to all of the residents and we know that my wife is getting the best care possible from a caring and professional staff.

Mum has been a resident of Barton Lodge for approximately 14 months and I feel she is well cared for. The Home itself is modern, clean and has a friendly welcoming atmosphere. Staff are always very professional. If there are concerns staff and the manager always listen and respond quickly to resolve
matters. It is a great relief to me to know that mum is being so well looked after.

I was impressed and am still impressed with the way my aunt is treated and cared for in Barton lodge, ensuring dignity and kindness. I genuinely cannot thank all the staff and management of Barton Lodge enough for everything they do for my mum, they go above and beyond. It shines through that this is more than just a job to them.
Staff and management are friendly, approachable and professional, always willing to help.
The unit
is immaculate and beautifully decorated throughout. Mum has a large spacious bedroom, we have brought pictures and such from home to help make it a home from home for her.
There is a cinema room, hair dressing and beauty salon, refreshments are always on offer for service users and visiting family members, we have made use of all facilities regularly.
Activities are enjoyed by all service users, they vary from bowling, darts, singing, colouring, board games, manicures etc.
I would rate Barton Lodge as Outstanding. It is not just a care home, it is a home from home.

To give some context to this review I think that it is important to understand my wife's situation. She has Alzheimer's is bedbound with very limited movement, speech and understanding. Essentially all her care needs have to be met. Without exception I have never had any worry or cause for complaint.
The staff are always friendly and helpful. There is an air of calm about the place, it is exceptionally clean from the building to the bedding and there are never any unpleasant of odors. I would always recommend Scorton to anyone looking for this type of accommodation. I would like to say a big, thank you, to all the staff for their help and understanding not only from my wife but myself also.

My husband has had such a good experience wile living in this home he loves all the staff and they love him he has been in 3 other care homes and they could never care for him as well as this home we have have no faults at the home it is so clean and well kept and he really enjoys the food and the staff
offer family and friends a cuppa the minute you arrive i have even been offered a meal wile visiting my husband the only thing I feel that could slightly improve is more activity but other wise its a 10 out of 10 from me and my family.

The nurses are so friendly and you can tell that they genuinly care. We need to move Mum closer to us, but if I could move
Hill House nearer, I would. The facilities could do with improvement, but the care is the most important thing and was excellent.
