Hill House provides nursing, residential and short stay care, as well as residential rehabilitation for the young and old. Hill House is a spacious, elegant eighteenth-century building converted to provide residential and nursing care, for long and short term needs. As well as supporting elderly residents, staff welcome those who are 18 and over and living with a physical disability or neurological condition, such as multiple sclerosis, in need of residential care.

Residents can expect a high standard of care in the midst of a friendly community. With each of their cosy bedrooms, residents can enjoy the convenience of an en suite, and there are lovely views across the gardens and surrounding countryside.

There are lots of places to relax, including the choice of six lounges. Residents can cosy up with a book in the library, use the computer room, or enjoy being pampered in the salon.

The large gardens are especially tranquil because they back onto a small area of woodlands. Within the walled space, residents can stroll along the paths, rest under the pergola, or catch-up with loved ones on the patio.

They want residents to settle in quickly and be happy here. That’s why they help them to hold onto as much independence as possible.

There’s also good food, lots to do, and a warm welcome for friends and family whenever they visit.

The team of activity coordinators plan all sorts of interesting things to do, including those who are less mobile. All activities are tailored to each person's likes and abilities too.

The chef prepares a range of delicious foods, including some family favourites and kosher meals.

This is my third visit to Hill House. I find it so relaxing here; everything works here. The staff are excellent, first class—nothing they won't do for you. I also think it's great value for money.

My grandad moved to Hill House 4 weeks ago. He has really enjoyed his time here so far. He has tried a lot of new activities, and the staff have been really welcoming to him. I've seen him enjoy his time with arts and crafts as well as gardening.

I have been a resident for four years. It has been taken over recently by DMP Health Care from the previous organisation. Very little has changed other than extra Nurses and Carers being employed. The staff remain excellent as before. My only real complaint is the new Management. Other than a residents/
family meeting some months ago, when they introduced themselves. There has been no further contact. Minutes of that meeting were taken together, including their contact details. Attendees were told that they would receive a copy of the minutes of the meeting, which would be included in a 'Package'. Despite two requests, nothing has been given. When the previous organisation had the home, the manager and his deputy would quite often walk around the home and speak to residents. I am very mobile, being able to move around the home, but I never see the current managers
Reply from Lucian Balog, Operations Manager at Hill House Care HomeThank you for your feedback and for your kind comments about the staff.
We apologise for the delay in sharing the meeting minutes. This was due to the recent transition and the administrative team prioritising key operational tasks. We expect this to now settle.
We also take on board your comments about management visibility. The management team is walking the floor daily, and we are going to continue to be present and accessible. A recent small-scale survey with residents has also been completed, and feedback shows an improvement in satisfaction, which we will continue to build on.
The Home Manager remains available for discussions, and both the Operations Manager and Director visit the home regularly, up to three times per week.
Thank you again for your feedback.

Very pleasant buildings. Room is pleasant. Staff are excellent whereall make a huge effort to make sure resident (my father) is spoken to like a human being and treated with the utmost respect. Staff got to realise his likes and dislikes very quickly and now he loves staying in this care home.
The
entertainment team are very proactive and ensure residents take part. Especially Inga.

My mother has been living at this care home following a stroke that left her unable to walk, and I cannot speak highly enough of the care she has received.

From the moment she arrived, the staff treated her with genuine kindness, patience, and dignity. Adjusting to life after such a life-changing

event is incredibly difficult, but the team here made the transition as smooth and reassuring as possible for both my mother and our family. They are consistently attentive, compassionate, and professional, and it is clear that they truly care about the wellbeing of the residents.

The support my mother receives with her mobility and daily needs is handled with great sensitivity and respect. The staff always take the time to ensure she is comfortable, safe, and included in daily life at the home. It is reassuring to know she is surrounded by people who are not only skilled at what they do, but who also treat her as an individual rather than just a resident.

I have had some previous experiences of care homes and had some anxiety when the family started discussing that my mother in law was in need of additional care and that care homes would be looked at.

But I can not express how staff have supported this move and taken so much stress and worry over

the family. My mother in law has not left her own home for several years and the only socialisation was with members of the family.

The staff at the home see to all her needs and have accommodated to her needs to allow a settling in period and have had her out of her room taking part in activities.

It has allowed the family to step back and look after themselves. Whilst also getting to bring back their relationships to just son and daughters.

We can not thank all the staff enough knowing she is getting all the care she needs as well as getting back some semblance of social life

My Mum has resided at Hill House for over a year now, and has recently been joined by my Dad.
The care they have shown both my parents is outstanding and cant be faulted.
They have been patient whilst my dad adjusts to being there and they have handled him extremely well.
The meals look lovely and
they have both said how much they enjoy them.
As my Mum and Dad are bed bound they are kept clean everyday multiple times per day and are treated with dignity and respect
Their rooms are a fair size and we have furnished so them so that they feel more at home.
the garden views are fantastic and well maintained and hopefully in the warmer months we can get them out into the fresh air.
There is so much for them to do but unfortunately are limited due to there ability to get out of bed, however the entertainment team do go in and visit for a chat or to do some painting with my Mum, they have even taken a little dog in to see her, which she loved.
I cant fault Hill house or staff 5*

I cannot speak highly enough of the care my mother in law received at Hill House from the show around until her passing. The management were always on hand and so helpful with any bridges we had to cross. Her nurse was amazing as were the primary carers. She was always treated with dignity and respect
often under difficult circumstances. We are so grateful that she was in such safe hands during her last 8 months.

My mother was in Hill House Care Home for the last 8 months of her life, and I cannot speak high enough of the care, attention, and respect that she received from the management to the care, and the respect that was always shown to her sometimes under trying circumstances. I always felt that even at
95 she was extremely safe and secure and this meant everything to me. I would recommend the home without any hesitation to any family facing the same circumstances.

Hill House has been my home for 15 months. In that time my experience has been excellent. The staff are knowledgeable and extremely caring. Nothing seems to be too much trouble. The facilities in the home are also excellent and there are a multitude of activities available. The medical help is wide-ranging
and comprehensive. In short my time here has been extremely positive.

I booked into Hill House for 2 weeks of recuperation and convalescence after a total knee replacement. I have been very pleased with the care I have received, the staff have been friendly and professional at all times. I have found my room adequate and the food and menu varied and rather more than I
would normally eat. I feel sure the two weeks spent here have set me up to return home.

It was my mother's 100th birthday. We had a great party for her at the home. The home made an enormous effort to help us to put on a wonderful celebration for her. The staff were very helpful and accommodating to the point that two members of staff even came in on their day off to join in the festivities.
This is a testament to the love and care my mother receives. Thank you everyone at Hill House.

Current Review Score: 9.7 (9.697)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.7 (9.697) out of 10 for Hill House Care Home is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.7 out of 5 from 30 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 5.0 out of 5 from 30 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.697 for Hill House Care Home is calculated as follows: ( (248 Excellents x 5) + (92 Goods x 4) + (5 Satisfactorys x 3) + (1 Poors x 2) ) ÷ 346 Ratings = 4.697
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 5 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Hill House Care Home is based on 30 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 20 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews, 0.05 Points for the next five Positive Reviews, and finally 0.025 Points for the next ten Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.050, 7th = 0.050, 8th = 0.050, 9th = 0.050, 10th = 0.050, 11th = 0.025, 12th = 0.025, 13th = 0.025, 14th = 0.025, 15th = 0.025, 16th = 0.025, 17th = 0.025, 18th = 0.025, 19th = 0.025, 20th = 0.025) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 = 4
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 75 registered maximum number of service users is 15, which has been reached with 30 Positive reviews. Points = 1
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
