My wife has dementia and has been a resident at Barton Lodge for the last 17 months. On the day that we arrived at Barton Lodge, we were met by the manager, and made very welcome as she showed us up to what would become my wifes room. We were told that we could bring pictures and ornaments from home
to help my wife settle in. The room was spotlessly clean and spacious with room for her wheelchair as she had a broken ankle at the time. All of the staff that we have met at Barton Lodge are very considerate and sympathetic to all of the residents and we know that my wife is getting the best care possible from a caring and professional staff.

Mum has been a resident of Barton Lodge for approximately 14 months and I feel she is well cared for. The Home itself is modern, clean and has a friendly welcoming atmosphere. Staff are always very professional. If there are concerns staff and the manager always listen and respond quickly to resolve
matters. It is a great relief to me to know that mum is being so well looked after.

I was impressed and am still impressed with the way my aunt is treated and cared for in Barton lodge, ensuring dignity and kindness. At times I know my aunt can be challenging but the staff understand her behaviours and treat her accordingly. I genuinely feel that the carers really care for all their
residents. The overall atmosphere of the home is very welcoming and friendly. Thank you for all you do.

I genuinely cannot thank all the staff and management of Barton Lodge enough for everything they do for my mum, they go above and beyond. It shines through that this is more than just a job to them.
Staff and management are friendly, approachable and professional, always willing to help.
The unit
is immaculate and beautifully decorated throughout. Mum has a large spacious bedroom, we have brought pictures and such from home to help make it a home from home for her.
There is a cinema room, hair dressing and beauty salon, refreshments are always on offer for service users and visiting family members, we have made use of all facilities regularly.
Activities are enjoyed by all service users, they vary from bowling, darts, singing, colouring, board games, manicures etc.
I would rate Barton Lodge as Outstanding. It is not just a care home, it is a home from home.

My father George is a regular respite client and has used Barton Lodge many times.
I find the staff very accommodating and genuine care / nursing staff who take a real interest in the residents.
The environment offers residents many spaces and activities due to its modern layout.
I noticed a great
selection of foods being offered which take into account all residents preferences, cultural and dietary needs.
The staff whilst I recognise work within what sometimes could be considered demanding all seem to enjoy their work and get a long in an inclusive workforce. I suggest the management within the home deliver great management and supervision to the staff.
I would suggest this home for all types of residents needs as they assess and place within a suitable space.
It is very hard to send loved ones into care and I would suggest that you visit the home and maybe send your loved one on a trial basis before decisions are made.
Laura & Rebecca from management are very approachable.

I just want to say how incredibly grateful I am for the care and support you give to my friend. It brings me so much comfort knowing she is in such a safe, caring, and supportive environment.
The staff are always kind, patient, and respectful, and it's clear that they genuinely care about her wellbeing
and happiness. She is always clean, comfortable, and well-presented when I visit, and the home itself is warm, welcoming, and well looked after.
What stands out the most is how you treat her with dignity and compassion. You take the time to understand her needs, listen to her, and make her feel valued. I can see that she feels settled and cared for, which means everything to those of us who love her.
Thank you for the amazing work you do every single day. It truly makes a difference.

Our mum came to Barton Lodge in March, and from the first day the staff have made her feel welcome, safe and comfortable, which gives us great peace of mind. She is always clean and tidy as are all other residents. The home is always clean and welcoming. There are lots of different activities, including
keep fit and different entertainment as well as residents and family parties. We would like to thank all the staff for the fantastic work they do, which has been a lifeline for us as a family during difficult circumstances.

Lovely warm entrance and environment. Reception staff always helpful. The care is exceptional and nothing is too much trouble, from finding a blanket that my mum likes to providing medical care. My mum is very happy, she enjoys the company and feels very safe. Carers are always visible and interact
with residents. There is a high standard of care at Barton Lodge. I feel very lucky that my mum is a member of their community.

From the moment my dad arrived at Barton Lodge, we felt very reassured that he was in a lovely place and in good hands. Throughout his stay, we repeatedly saw the kind, expert, compassionate, patient, thorough and attentive care my dad was given by the whole team. Knowing that my dad was there - in
such a lovely, safe environment and being so well cared for - gave us complete peace of mind. My dad was calm and 'at home' at Barton Lodge and we are so grateful to all the staff for everything they did for him. Thank you.

The staff and carers are so friendly, helpful and caring. Whenever I visit, there is always someone popping in to see my mum to check on her and attend to her needs. I am always made to feel welcome. The home is always clean and tidy and well maintained. My mum particularly enjoyed the summer barbecue
this year which I also attended and she is pleased with the garden outside her window following
Various gardening days arranged by the home, her garden and those surrounding it look lovely and colourful. I would not even consider using a different care home as this one is so good.

Current Review Score: 9.9 (9.852)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.9 (9.852) out of 10 for Barton Lodge is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.9 out of 5 from 21 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 5.0 out of 5 from 21 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.852 for Barton Lodge is calculated as follows: ( (214 Excellents x 5) + (35 Goods x 4) + (1 Satisfactorys x 3) ) ÷ 250 Ratings = 4.852
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 5 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Barton Lodge is based on 21 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 20 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews, 0.05 Points for the next five Positive Reviews, and finally 0.025 Points for the next ten Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.050, 7th = 0.050, 8th = 0.050, 9th = 0.050, 10th = 0.050, 11th = 0.025, 12th = 0.025, 13th = 0.025, 14th = 0.025, 15th = 0.025, 16th = 0.025, 17th = 0.025, 18th = 0.025, 19th = 0.025, 20th = 0.025) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 = 4
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 70 registered maximum number of service users is 14, which has been reached with 21 Positive reviews. Points = 1
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
