Bilton Hall Nursing Home is a 58 bedded care home which provides residential and nursing care for older people and people living with dementia. A new manager has recently been appointed and residents and relatives can be assured of the continued, excellent standards of care and high-quality facilities in a beautiful tranquil setting.

The home, which is situated in an old manor house, one of the oldest buildings in Harrogate, is set in seven acres of landscaped gardens with extensive lawns, flower beds and mature trees with panoramic views over Knaresborough. There are a range of sitting areas with chairs, tables and parasols to enable the residents to enjoy the outdoors, with a dementia friendly area.

This Jacobean former manor house has up-to-date facilities for up to 60 residents, with all rooms having private en-suite facilities. There are beautiful lounges and dining rooms together with some 'quirky' areas giving residents plenty of spaces to sit and enjoy the company for friends and family.

A person-centred dementia unit has recently been completed offering expert nursing care for people living with dementia. There is a dedicated activities co-ordinator who has developed a programme, offering a wide range of entertainment and activities to suit all tastes.

Situated conveniently between Harrogate & Knaresborough, Bilton Hall offers 24-hour nursing care to residents in a homely, compassionate environment and prides itself on its delicious home-cooked food.

My mother moved to Bilton Hall in July and I am very impressed with all the staff - both clinical and non-clinical.
My mother in law spent two years in Bilton Hall ten years ago and I have been associated with B.H. as a GP for 30 years.
I have nothing but praise for the organisation and all the staff.

My husband had been at Bilton Hall for 8 months, needing full nursing care due to numerous brain tumours (he did not want any more treatment). He was treated as an individual with dignity. The last month of his life they were attentive and at the end, one carer and two nursing staff were sat with him
so he was not on his own. I will always be grateful to the staff who made his last months bearable.

Mum came here having been in other care homes. Her dementia was quite progressive but she received the best of care from the staff here. Beautiful relaxed surroundings with a happy atmosphere. We wished we had found Bilton Hall earlier.

My aunty is extremely well cared for at Bilton Hall. She was in a previous home which was fine but not as exemplary as Bilton Hall. Her appetite has improved as they've worked hard to encourage her to eat; her skin complaint has ceased but above all she's happy and content. She has peace and quiet when
she needs it but staff are always popping in to see she's OK. Staff are warm and welcoming and they genuinely know her, her humour and love of conversation and company. I recently recommended Bilton Hall to a friend and his mum has recently moved there. I know my aunty is extremely well cared for and that is such a relief to me and such a pleasure to see. Thank you, Bilton Hall.

My Mum has been a resident for the last five weeks. I cannot praise the staff enough from the management, nurses, care workers, cleaners, kitchen staff. Everyone goes the extra mile to help in such a professional, kind and caring manner, which has really helped me during this difficult time dealing

From the moment we walked through the door, we were treated with respect and sensitivity. All the staff have been amazing and my mother was happy to be there. The public area needs a facelift but that would be my only negative comment.

My Mum needs nursing care and Bilton Hall Nursing Home is not only the closest to all of the family but is very clean, tidy and the staff are friendly and helpful. They look after my Mum's needs as if she was their Mum.

I could not have had any better support and understanding during this very difficult time. My late sister had advanced dementia and very poor health when she was admitted. The care compassion and devotion that she received from the staff during her stay provided her with the support and dignity that
enabled her to spend the end of her life in such a caring and deserving situation. I shall always be grateful to each one of them.

My mother was in the home for 5 months until she died. She had a pleasant room and found the lovely quiet lounge downstairs a good place to chat with family. The new "dementia" garden is beautiful and some of the best memories I have of her there is of her enjoying sitting out in the sun and admiring
the flowers. The carers were fantastic - they were gentle, attentive and loving even when my mother was difficult to handle. The deputy manager particularly was outstanding. All the staff were really supportive of me too.

My mum has severe dementia and cannot do anything without help, she cannot walk or feed herself. I am away for up to three months at a time, so it is very important to me that mum is looked after properly. I visit at random times and always find my mum is very well looked after. She is always clean
and tidy up and dressed. The home itself looks nicely carpeted and furnished, no nasty smells! Just like being at home! I cannot thank the staff enough for looking after my mum with dignity and care.

My father has been a resident here for 9 months and finds everything very pleasant and enjoys all aspects of his life. The caring and friendly staff, delicious meals, interesting activities and events. When I am unable to visit the carers take him out to walk in the lovely grounds and he plays the piano
regularly. I am really happy with every aspect of the care my father receives and I enjoy visiting the home regularly!

A charming historic building with the ambience or country house hotel. The staff are extremely caring and gentle towards residents and visitors!. Collette Backhouse

Collette is Bilton Hall’s Manager and has several years of experience. Her main interest and experience are in managing successful care homes housing elderly and frail Residents, some of whom have mental health issues. Collette is very experienced in the management of care homes and is committed to providing a high–quality service.


She is ultimately responsible for the effective and professional running of the care home, but will allocate time to discuss any aspect of our residents' care or any problems they may be experiencing. Collette is keen to work closely and in partnership with our Residents, their relatives and significant others to benefit the Residents in her care. She is a dynamic team leader and has an ongoing interest in professional development and career progression
