Our auntie moved in after a fall breaking he arm and hip. We looked at many homes and found this one was the one we thought was best for her and it was for her short stay. The staff made her at home and looked after her so well till unfortunately, she passed away, everyone was wonderful throughout. Thanks again.

Our relative came to Mulberry Court for respite care and unfortunately passed away after only a few weeks with them. During the time she was with the home the staff were very understanding and kept in touch with us between our visits. She was looked after by everyone with care, compassion and understanding. Each and every member of staff were very friendly and helpful, nothing was too much trouble. Unfortunately, she did not get the chance to be fully involved in all the brilliant activities the home offered.

My father spent a week at Barchester Mulberry Court Care Home and he was really well looked after. I was very impressed with the care and kindness shown by all staff to my dad and that they were all so friendly when we visited. As a registered nurse myself, it was so nice to know that Dad was in a safe and comfortable place being looked after by the super staff.
My dad developed a chest infection after a few days but a prompt referral for medical advice meant he received antibiotics and treatment quickly and he recovered well.
His room was clean and comfortable and the food looked very tasty!

Having a really good respite facility available is vital for my mum so that she can have a break as she is Dad’s full-time carer.

We have nothing but positive comments for this care home.
The manager arranged care for my dad at very short notice and went above and beyond to ensure he was settled and well looked after. The facilities are excellent and the rooms are bright and comfortable.

We feel really lucky that our dad got to spend time at Mulberry Court Care Home and would highly recommend it. Thank you to all the staff.

Mulberry Court Care Home provided essential end-of-life care for my mum. From the initial visit through to the last, the warm and compassionate environment was welcoming. Knowing that nursing care and regular visits from other medical professionals were easily available was a comfort. Also, the wider care team delivered personal care with empathy and understanding.

The home is friendly and comfortable and has activities for residents, a hairdresser and a garden with plenty of wildlife for a mindful distraction for all to enjoy.

My mum moved here in July 2022 to receive end-of-life care. The home was identified by the NHS, but I couldn't have found anywhere better: I have no worries about the care mum receives. My mum is comfortable and in no pain, due to the quality of nursing and carer support she receives. She looks clean and well cared for when I visit - every 2 days - and she has a pleasant and nicely furnished room, which is always clean. Mum says she likes her carers and they are kind to her. Mum can't access other facilities as she is now bedbound, but my observations are that the restaurant menus look tempting and smell lovely, and there are plenty of activities available for residents. Staff are genuinely welcoming and supportive to relatives, and communicate well with me, updating me on mum's health as needed. I think Mum's unit manager has built a passionate and skilled team who are all positive about their role. I hear lots of laughter, which is lovely.

My dad has regularly stayed in Mulberry Court for respite, for both him and myself (as his full-time carer), for about four years. During respite breaks, I don't usually visit. However, Dad has lived here permanently since February, and I am here every day. I am extremely impressed with Dad's care providers. The staff are fabulous and so friendly. It feels like a family home. I go home in the knowledge that Dad is being very well cared for.

My husband and I visited my mother-in-law on Christmas Day which was also her Birthday. We watched a member of staff feed her the lovely Christmas lunch. My mother has lived at Mulberry Court (Barchester Healthcare) in York for two and a half years. Like so many people, she would have liked to stay in her own home, but this became impossible. We initially booked a respite stay of three weeks. During this period she began to make friends and was very happy with the care she was receiving. She decided that she would like to move in permanently.
I can honestly say that she is looked after with professionalism, care and love by wonderful, dedicated staff and I have seen so many instances of kindness. Everyone really does go the extra mile.

She has made new friends and is no longer lonely. She now refers to Mulberry Court as ‘home’.

Reply from Steve Edgar, General Manager at Barchester Mulberry Court Care Home

Thank you for taking the time to review the service at Mulberry Court. We are so pleased that we have supported your mother to find her new 'home' and that she has made friends here. Your kind words are very much appreciated by the team, and will also help other families when faced with the difficult decisions that are part-and-parcel of looking for a care home placement.

We are hugely impressed with the care that my Dad, a 95-year-old stroke patient, has received at Mulberry Court. The staff and leadership are, without exception, kind, good-humoured, well-trained and helpful. Everyone on the staff has gone out of their way to make my dad's life as pleasant and comfortable as possible. The food is of a high standard, and my Dad's room is pleasant and cosy. We cannot thank the manager and his team enough.

Hi my name is Toni and I started my journey with Mulberry Court back in 1999 at just 16 years old, my mum worked as a carer at the time and I loved the residents and atmosphere and so my Mulberry court career started as a waitress after school, then a carer before moving into the laundry. At that time I stayed for 7 years before having my children, I had a place at university but decided it wasn’t for me so came back to Mulberry Court and was quickly promoted to a senior carer role before becoming a care practitioner a role I love and continue to do.

Hi, I'm Mark I am the new head chef here at Mulberry Court Care Home, I've been working in the hospitality sector for over 20 years now after starting in a country pub at the tender age of just 14 washing up!

That is where they began to teach me how to cook and that’s when my love for cooking and this career path began, once I’d finished my exams at school, I then went to York College to gain both experience and a recognised qualification.

As I progressed and furthered my career, I worked in several places before I then became head chef at a number of busy restaurants both in and around the York area developing my skills further as I went.

Outside of work, I have two young children who are my absolute world and when I am not at work, I will be found doing something with them.

It’s nice to be able chat to with residents whilst carrying out my work hear their stories, and life experiences and learn about their varied backgrounds.

I have settled in well here at Mulberry and I look forward to using my knowledge and background for some projects around the lovely home and award-winning gardens we have here at Mulberry Court.
