My dad came here in February 2021. The Manager and her staff have been excellent. They have done everything possible to help my dad settle and ensure he is comfortable and well looked after. Can’t praise them enough.

In the time my mother stayed at Aspen Court, I found the care to be very good (and mother happy with it) and the staff very helpful. Particularly towards the end of my mother’s life, staff were compassionate, helpful and informative. All much appreciated at this difficult time.

My father-in-law came to Aspen Court in October 2020. He's rather a challenging case, to say the least, but the care he has received in these challenging times is superb. Caring, understanding, and patient, the staff are all of those and more.

Aspen Court is a very nice care home, and all the staff look after my brother very well. The staff always have time to speak with you if you have any questions to ask, and I would highly recommend this care home to people I know.

During the 18 months plus that my dad has been in Aspen Court, I have only seen positive caring attitudes towards my dad and other residents, there is nothing seems to be a bother to the staff. My mam spent a few weeks in Aspen Court before she died leading up to Christmas 2019 and again, I have nothing
but praise for all of the staff.

Since my grandma went into Aspen Court she has been like a new person, the staff are lovely and make people feel very welcome, especially the residents. They are very accommodating to the individual's needs.

Really lovely, accommodating, and genuinely caring establishment.

My father has been a resident in Aspen Court for around a year now, he has been well taken care of, and I can’t fault this home at all.
He has dementia and can be very difficult and abusive.
The staff have been very patient and helpful.
My mother was also in last year for end of life care, her care
was first class, and the staff were absolutely wonderful and caring with her. Sadly she only lived three weeks there. We walked in and there would be a member of staff sitting holding her hand as she slept; I could not have asked for better treatment of a loved one.

My father has had Alzheimer’s for over 13 years and unfortunately it has now become severe. He has been under the care of Aspen Court for nearly 2 years. I can not recommend highly enough the dedication of the staff who look after Dad. He is looked after as if he was their own relative and we couldn’t
be happier with our difficult decision to place him at this home.

From the minute we walked in; we were all made to feel welcome and were impressed with the friendliness and professionalism of all the staff we met. Since my mother has been in Aspen, she has been happy and is always telling us that the staff are so lovely, caring and that they can't do enough for her.
They constantly pop in and check on her.

My brother is well cared for and comfortably settled here. The staff know him well and understand his needs. many of the staff have worked at Aspen Court for some length of time which is reassuring, and enables continuity of care. We are kept up to date with any information relating to my brother by
the medical team, carers and receptionist. Although my brother's behaviour is challenging at times, I am very satisfied with how this is managed.

Both of my parents, at different times, were cared for by this care home and the wonderful staff that work there. My mother recently passed away, she was treated with the utmost love and respect anyone could have wanted. Myself and my family were always made so welcome at anytime day or night. I would

My dad sadly passed away earlier this month after 6 month battle with cancer. His final 4 months were spent in Aspen Court where his care was well above and beyond our expectations.
The manager and her team were magic and certainly went the extra mile with care and attention to my dad's needs. Our
frustration at him not being allowed home due to his care needs was quickly dispelled by the commitment of the staff, especially the girls on his floor, who became our extended family.
A big thank you to the manager and her team for supporting my dad through his final days and for helping myself and my family to cope throughout a very emotional time.

My mam was a respite resident for 2 weeks. I visited 3 times, and each time I found there to be only 2 staff on the shift at any one time on floor 2. There were a few residents who needed 2 staff to assist them with personal care which then left no staff in the lounge. A few of the residents are prone
to getting up and wandering but are very unsteady and this caused drinks to be knocked over. Some of the residents are loud and shout a lot and nothing was said or done to calm them down. I asked if there was going to be any activities one day and the staff member said she had no idea what to do with them. On the day I dropped my mam off, I left money for her hair to be cut and the manager said she could get a chiropodist in. Neither of which were done. I took her to her day centre, and when she was brought home the staff said that her incontinence pad was soaked and soiled when she had arrived. Not a good experience.

We chose Birchdale when the refurbishment programme was in full swing, every care by staff and management was taken to minimise disruption to residents and visitors at all times and the areas we left clean and tidy every evening. A positive reflection on how the home is run.


The rooms are of a high

quality, spacious, clean, and well furnished with ensuite WC and shower/wet room facilities. However, it is the staff and management team that impressed me the most with their compassionate care and professionalism shown at all times, they helped my Dad enormously encouraging his walking and engaging him in activities throughout the day, not only did they demonstrate this whilst caring for my Dad, but all the residents with dementia.


The manager and her team provide a safe and caring environment for the vulnerable; I can’t thank them enough for what they have done for our family.

I have spent a considerable amount of time during the past nine months (4/5 visits per week) at Birchdale Care Home. The organisation is extremely well managed by the Care Home Manager and this is, without a doubt, it's major strength. Clearly, she knows the business inside out and nothing gets past
her. The vast majority of staff regularly go way and beyond their normal call of duty, I have personally witnessed this on many occasions.
The care given, particularly on the nursing floor is outstanding. Compassion, sensitivity and consideration come as part of the package, often under the most difficult of circumstances.
Following recent refurbishment, the rooms (all ensuite) are of an exceptionally high standard.
