Exceptional Care Home: as soon as you enter the building the warm friendly atmosphere is felt. The Manager, Nursing staff, housekeepers, admin, catering, laundry and maintenance are all professional, patient, kind, caring and always welcoming. Staff are always approachable and any queries, problems are dealt with quickly. The home, rooms and facilities are spotlessly clean. The food is excellent with a varied menu. The activities co-ordinator ensures that there Is plenty of activities throughout the day and residents are actively encouraged to participate. All information is displayed as picture cards on boards so residents/family /friends know what is planned/what loved ones have been taking part in. Rooms are spacious with en-suite toilet and wash basins. Residents/family are encouraged to make rooms a home from home with personal items. Residents are treated as individuals and their dignity upheld at all times but most importantly they are loved and treasured by all the staff.

Came to view Garden Hill after a close personal friend recommended it to us. My mum needs full nursing care and all staff have ensured the transition into this new world has been as "painless" as possible. My mum has settled in very well and we all have been treated with care and respect.

The care home itself is clean and tidy. My granda said he really enjoyed the food. Some of the carers were fantastic with my granda. Unfortunately, we found the management to be inadequate and there were issues raised about his care on a frequent basis.

Always feels lively when you enter the home. The staff are always smiling and pleasant and on occasions when things get quiet they sit talking to individuals, show interest in the residents, and treat them with dignity. When I had to ring the alarm bell they responded in moments. My brother-in-law says there is nothing he asks for that can't be given. Best carer home in the area. The staff are a credit.

I find this a good home for my mother she is happy here and well looked after. The food is good and the home is very clean and staff are friendly. They have activities and trips out on the bus. But as my mother is 95 she is quite happy in her room.

I visit my wife every day so experience a lot of the workings and activities of every day and am always impressed by the surroundings and workings of the home and staff.
Any comment I make which is seldom may I add is seen to immediately.

I go home each evening after seeing my wife to her room and have not a worry about her well being although I worry about her decline with this terrible disease.

I called for an unannounced visit as part as part of my own background checks before considering placing my mum into the care of Garden Hill. I was welcomed by a very helpful receptionist who "buzzed me in" and arranged for me to speak with the manager. She was well informed and offered a "tour" of the home.
Residents were clean, well presented, looked comfortable and staff were visible on each floor. Cleaners were active and tables already set for tea. A range of menus and activities displayed on boards. Some residents doors were "open", showing a "nothing to hide" attitude. The manager was efficient, worked well with social services who kept us fully informed. This has eased mum's transition into the world of nursing care. Although we are only 5 weeks into this new world, the team at Garden Hill appear to work well together to meet mum's needs. They have welcomed our input into mum's likes and dislikes and hopefully mum will start to fit in, as although she has dementia, she responds well to TLC.

The rooms I have seen are all clean and well presented and overall, I believe it deserves this recognition.

My mother has now been in care for 4 wks, so far I'm very impressed with staff (always pleasant and keep me updated on my mother). I have been at different times throughout the day and everything about the home seems to be decent and well looked after. Everything is kept clean and tidy and the staff and nurses are on top of med situation. Can't comment on meals at the moment but will update you later. Management has kept in touch, especially with my sister.

As a retired nurse and former matron of a nursing home, I was and have been on previous visits, greatly impressed with the home. The cleanliness is at once noticeable. Staff are pleasant and happy, showing respect to both clients and visitors.
When we visited at the beginning of February, my brother-in-law was in the process of making a cake and happily waiting for it to cook so it could be iced, something I have never known him do. He laughed at us because he was wearing an apron.

It was a delight and reassuring to see him to happy.

My Grandma is in Garden Hill and she is very settled here. Although due to health issues, she can become unsettled. However, the staff are marvellous with her and very patient in helping to make her feel settled and secure. The communication between the staff and families work very well. It is very clean and the meals look fantastic. There are lots of activities to keeps minds ticking and overall a nice home.

Mother and father-in-law admitted together, staff extremely attentive and compassionate to enable the transition to go smoothly. The facilities are more than adequate, clean and well maintained. It is my first experience of care facilities so I have no real comparison but confident my in-laws are in very good hands.
