Garden Hill care home provides residential, dementia, nursing and respite care in a friendly, welcoming environment.

The home which is purpose-built is located over three floors and offers en-suite bedrooms on each floor. On the ground floor, there is a self-service coffee shop, conservatory, lounge and dining room. The middle floor has a cinema room and the top floor another dining room for residents. The home has secluded, spacious gardens.

The home has a 5 star food hygiene certificate and offers cooked breakfast, choice of lunch and dinner as well as a hospitality trolley with home made cakes made in the home kitchen.

The home has a full-time activities coordinator who organises a variety of fun and creative activities, entertainment and events for residents to choose from depending on their interests and hobbies.

Organised day trips and charity fundraising events give the home strong links with the local community and people from outside the home are often invited to take part in entertainment and events.

Came to view Garden Hill after a close personal friend recommended it to us. My mum needs full nursing care and all staff have ensured the transition into this new world has been as "painless" as possible. My mum has settled in very well and we all have been treated with care and respect.

The care home itself is clean and tidy. My granda said he really enjoyed the food. Some of the carers were fantastic with my granda. Unfortunately, we found the management to be inadequate and there were issues raised about his care on a frequent basis.

Friendly staff, very accommodating.

Always feels lively when you enter the home. The staff are always smiling and pleasant and on occasions when things get quiet they sit talking to individuals, show interest in the residents, and treat them with dignity. When I had to ring the alarm bell they responded in moments. My brother-in-law says
there is nothing he asks for that can't be given. Best carer home in the area. The staff are a credit.

I find this a good home for my mother she is happy here and well looked after. The food is good and the home is very clean and staff are friendly. They have activities and trips out on the bus. But as my mother is 95 she is quite happy in her room.

I visit my wife every day so experience a lot of the workings and activities of every day and am always impressed by the surroundings and workings of the home and staff.
Any comment I make which is seldom may I add is seen to immediately.
I go home each evening after seeing my wife to her room and
have not a worry about her well being although I worry about her decline with this terrible disease.

I called for an unannounced visit as part as part of my own background checks before considering placing my mum into the care of Garden Hill. I was welcomed by a very helpful receptionist who "buzzed me in" and arranged for me to speak with the manager. She was well informed and offered a "tour" of
the home.
Residents were clean, well presented, looked comfortable and staff were visible on each floor. Cleaners were active and tables already set for tea. A range of menus and activities displayed on boards. Some residents doors were "open", showing a "nothing to hide" attitude. The manager was efficient, worked well with social services who kept us fully informed. This has eased mum's transition into the world of nursing care. Although we are only 5 weeks into this new world, the team at Garden Hill appear to work well together to meet mum's needs. They have welcomed our input into mum's likes and dislikes and hopefully mum will start to fit in, as although she has dementia, she responds well to TLC.
The rooms I have seen are all clean and well presented and overall, I believe it deserves this recognition.

My mother has now been in care for 4 wks, so far I'm very impressed with staff (always pleasant and keep me updated on my mother). I have been at different times throughout the day and everything about the home seems to be decent and well looked after. Everything is kept clean and tidy and the staff
and nurses are on top of med situation. Can't comment on meals at the moment but will update you later. Management has kept in touch, especially with my sister.

As a retired nurse and former matron of a nursing home, I was and have been on previous visits, greatly impressed with the home. The cleanliness is at once noticeable. Staff are pleasant and happy, showing respect to both clients and visitors.
When we visited at the beginning of February, my brother-in-law
was in the process of making a cake and happily waiting for it to cook so it could be iced, something I have never known him do. He laughed at us because he was wearing an apron.
It was a delight and reassuring to see him to happy.

My Grandma is in Garden Hill and she is very settled here. Although due to health issues, she can become unsettled. However, the staff are marvellous with her and very patient in helping to make her feel settled and secure. The communication between the staff and families work very well. It is very
clean and the meals look fantastic. There are lots of activities to keeps minds ticking and overall a nice home.

I have visited my mam and dad at Garden Hill Centre on a number of occasions. On these visits, I have found the staff to be helpful and cheerful. I have also found the staff to be courteous, warm and emphatic to my mam and dad. The home has activities regularly which is a good structure to mam and dad's
day. The staff keep our family informed of any changes to my mam and dad or any concerns to regarding their physical conditions.
